If the country rumours for Beyβs next album/act are true, Iβm really curious how sheβs gonna perform on streaming with country as a genre now catching up in that field. Honestly, probably not good. Let's be real, the country industry is still resistant (to put it mildly) to Black people and women, and then her core audience isn't likely to be excited about a country album. If she went country she'd surely break records for a Black woman making country music, but she herself would likely get lower numbers than she otherwise would. It's not a coincidence that every country artist as of late who has gotten into the top 10 of the Hot 100 - Morgan Walgreens, Luke Combs, Blackface Aldean, Oliver Anthony, Zach Bryan, even going back to Sam Hunt - is a white male.
I don't disagree that this is how it would likely play out, but I would hold out some hope. Back in the 60s, what Ray Charles did with Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music was unprecedented (even though that wasn't a completely Country album and incorporated R&B and other genres, but it's likely Beyonce would do the same), and that became his biggest album yet by far, so there is some precedent that the genre could potentially be open to black artists, especially if they are already big in other genres.
As for Zach's album, I've started to listen to it and am enjoying it pretty much so far! It's obviously different than the mostly Bro-county that's smashing on the charts now and receiving the most airplay, being more folk/americana, so I'm not sure how much Country radio (let alone pop/AC) would catch on? Something in the Orange itself only peaked at #20 on country radio. And the standout track is with Kasey Musgraves, but she never got much country airplay either.

yowch i think Blackpink were still popular... also "It's not a coincidence that every country artist as of late who has gotten into the top 10 of the Hot 100 - Morgan Walgreens, Luke Combs, Blackface Aldean, Oliver Anthony, Zach Bryan, even going back to Sam Hunt - is a white male." are you intentionally leaving out a certain someone who had a top 5 hit from a country song last month? That BLACKPINK song isn't a proper single, it's just a cut from a promotional game they're in. READY FOR LOVE was treated the same. It were an acutal comeback single, it wouldn't have been dropped without warning or promo, K-Pop singles don't work like that. Also I looked at the Top 10 singles from last month and the only artist who could fit this "certain someone" hasn't been a fulltime country act in almost a decade, it makes sense Taylor wouldn't be included in discussions about country acts. And no, it charting on the country charts doesn't matter.

If we're going as far back as Body Like a Back Road, then there's also been Gabby Barrett. Also, Maren Morris, got top 10 on the year-end chart with The Bones, although that song was like 95% pop to my ears, but she's considered a country artist normally. It doesn't go against your overall point, that country is dominated by white men, but just for the sake of accuracy.

"The Bones" was a long running song but it didn't go top 10 on the Hot 100 (or at Top 40), so it didn't fit what I was saying.
