Very consistent album on first listen. I think the production is a step in the right direction for him, I find there's some more organic sounds coming through. Not to say I disliked his last album, it was actually my favorite since 'Set This Circus Down', but that album could've used a bit less "polish".
The songs are where this one isn't hitting like 'Here On Earth'. I feel like the writing was stronger and more memorable on that album. Having said that these are very easy to listen to and I can see them growing on me, just not really any major standouts to start off. "Nashville CA/L.A. Tennessee" may be the one that caught my ear first outside the single. I like the way Lori sounds supporting Tim here, and the easy melody is really nice. I also think it's vocally the most natural sounding for him and I really appreciate that. He's always had a tendency to have his recorded vocals touched up just a little too much imo.

I'm really loving this on first listen, think it might be my favorite album from him since 'Sundown Heaven Town'. I think overall it's a little more country sounding than 'Here on Earth' and I like the production quite a bit better. "Hey Whiskey", "Cowboy Junkie", "Nashville CA/LA Tennessee", "Beautiful Hurricane" and "Paper Umbrellas" are my favorites so far, but there's honestly not a song I don't like. "Hold On To It" has hit written all over it and seems like the obvious choice for the second single, "Remember Me Well would be a good single choice as well at some point.

This Album is great! I think "Some Songs Change Your World" is a big hit if they edit the length and send to radio.

Pleasantly surprised that the title track seems to be the sonic outlier here. This sounds like a 2000s-era McGraw album in a really good way. "Hey Whiskey" is my personal favorite upon first listen.

It is absolutely wild to see how streaming has impacted a lot of the 90s/2000s heavy hitters. Very interested to see how Luke Bryan's next album performs whenever it is released.

Isn't Luke Bryan closer to 2010s hitmakers? I would worry about Brad Paisley (with no active radio single, it's definitely going to flop), Keith Urban or even Kenny Chesney.

^ I was pretty much expecting Brad's to underperform, since he's been declining a lot with his singles. Definitely am interested in seeing how Keith and Kenny's next ones perform. Also am expecting Darius' to flop as well.

As long as this doesn't lead to their labels dropping them then I have no problem with their sales not being as high as some of us may want. I just want them to continue releasing albums and having fun with it.

I know album sales are way down for most artists and Tim is 56 now and in the 31st year of his career, but those numbers are LOW for someone who has had such a legendary career.

Not to take anything away from Dierks, but Tim's had one of the biggest careers in country music history, which is why I find his low sales numbers so surprising. Given the fact that he's just a few years shy of 60, I guess I really shouldn't be so surprised.

This is a strong album. The title track was a great lead single choice, and he has a lot of options for follow-ups.
My early favourites are: "Hold On To It", "Hey Whiskey" and "Small Town King".

I'm astonished and surprised by those poor album sales numbers. Never thought that this album or any other McGraw album would react like that to the audience. Even his Greatest Hits Vol. 3 back to the Curb Records era sold more and peaked at Number 9 on the Billboard 200 charts for its first week.

Has there been any promotion of this album? I completely forgot it was coming out until this thread was made.

Disappointing numbers for sure, especially when the title track is shaping up to be his biggest hit in years.

Maybe he need a duet with Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen to regain more audience to the new generation like he did with Florida Gerogia Line when they were at the top of their game.

Disappointing numbers for sure, especially when the title track is shaping up to be his biggest hit in years. Is it though? Granted, it's doing better than a lot of his singles have recently because it looks like top 10 is doable, but it also doesn't exactly seem to be doing exponentially better than "I Called Mama" or "7500 OBO" from his last era. I'd love to see it go all the way to #1 since he hasn't achieved that since "Humble and Kind" clear back in 2016 now, but it's performing more on par with those other modest top 5 hits from the past couple years than it is to "Humble and Kind." Still, I echo the sentiments that the album opening is a bummer. It's definitely a product of the industry as it operates now though. The majority of new releases are underperforming on the charts except for a select few thanks to the way streaming has taken ahold of the chart metrics.
