"From This Moment On" (4:43) Featuring: Bryan White Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Music Video
Live Performance
Unpopular opinion alert!!! I like the duet version of "From This Moment On". The song is #5 from Come on Over and was released as the fourth single from the album on May 4th, 1998.
This is one of Shania's many wonderful ballads and it is just so romantic and pretty. I know Bryan White's feature is not the most loved part of the song but I enjoy his edition to the track.
The music video shows Shania walking down a hallway trying to open many doors before finding a room with an orchestra to match the energy of the song. It is just another one of Shania's many unique videos.
She continues to perform this song on her tours and residencies and it remains a classic. I absolutely adore this song.
Final Score: 9/10
I do swear that I'll always be there I'd give anything and everything and I will always care Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow For better for worse, I will love you With every beat of my heart
From this moment, life has begun From this moment, you are the one Right beside you is where I belong From this moment on From this moment, I have been blessed I live only for your happiness And for your love, I'd give my last breath From this moment on
I give my hand to you with all my heart I can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start You and I will never be apart My dreams came true because of you
From this moment, as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this There is nothing I wouldn't give From this moment on Ohh
You're the reason I believe in love And you're the answer to my prayers from up above All we need is just the two of us My dreams came true because of you
From this moment, as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this There is nothing I wouldn't give From this moment
I will love you (I will love you), as long as I live From this moment on (On) Mmm, mmm

"Come on Over" (2:55)
Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
One of Shania's few singles without a music video is next - the title track of her iconic 1997 album Come on Over. It was released as a single on September 7, 1999. The song reached #6 on the Hot Country Song chart and #58 on the Billboard Hot 100.
And I gotta be honest, it is one my least favorite Shania's singles ever. I think the song is okay but it is not one I often seek out. You can tell she loves to perform the song but it does not excite me as much as a lot of her other singles.
I really do not have much else to say about this one other than I think it is alright. It has grown on me over the years though.
Final Score: 6/10
Get a life, get a grip Get away somewhere, take a trip Take a break, take control Take advice from someone you know, oh
Come on over, come on in Pull up a seat, take a load off your feet Come on over, come on in You can unwind, take a load off your mind
Make a wish, make a move Make up your mind, you can choose When you're up, when you're down When you need a laugh, come around
Come on over, come on in Pull up a seat, take a load off your feet Come on over, come on in You can unwind, take a load off your mind
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Be a winner, be a star Yeah, be happy to be who you are Got to be yourself, gotta make a plan Got to go for it while you can
Come on over, come on in Pull up a seat, take a load off your feet Come on over, come on in You can unwind, take a load off your mind Oh-oh, yeah Uh-huh Come on in
Get a life, get a grip Get away somewhere, take a trip Take a break, take control Take advice from someone you know, oh
Come on over, come on in Pull up a seat, take a load off your feet Come on over, come on in You can unwind, take a load off your mind, yeah
(Come on over, come on in) Come on over, come on in Come on, come on in (Oh, oh, oh) And I say yeah, yeah, yeah (Oh, oh, oh) (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh) No, no, no (Oh, oh, oh) Come on over, come on in

"When" (3:39) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Music Video
Live Performance
We will all be happy the day money grows on trees. "When" is the seventh track on Come on Over and was released as fifth single on June 1, 1998. It did not do as well as the other singles from the album.
Shania included it in her Queen of Me tour for the first time since her return to music. I would say this song is one of her more vocally demanding songs which is difficult with her voice change.
The music video, directed by Markus Blunder, portrays Shania as an angel who goes around New York in pursuit of her love interest. It was originally released exclusively in the United Kingdom but eventually made its way to YouTube.
This is such a sing-a-long and it gets stuck in one's head so easily. I wish it would have done better and become another staple of her career. This is definitely a good one.
Final Score: 8/10
One, two, now Yeah!
If elephants could fly. I'd be a little more optimistic But I don't see that happening anytime soon I don't mean to sound so pessimistic But I don't think that cow really jumped over the moon
When will I wake up? Why did we break up? When will we make up?
When money grows on trees People live in peace Everyone agrees When happiness is free Love can guarantee You'll come back to me, that's when
I'd love to wake up smiling, full of the joys of spring And hear on CNN that Elvis lives again And that John's back with the Beatles and they're going out on tour I'll be the first in line for tickets Gotta see that show for sure
When will I wake up? Why did we break up? When will we make up?
When money grows on trees People live in peace Everyone agrees When happiness is free Love can guarantee You'll come back to me, that's when Yeah
When will I wake up? Why did we break up? When will we make up?
When money grows on trees People live in peace Everyone agrees When happiness is free Love can guarantee You'll come back to me, that's when Oh, that's when

"Whatever You Do! Don't!" (3:49) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Whatever you do, don't give a music video to a fantastic song like this - because apparently it was acceptable to do that. "Whatever You Do! Don't!" is eighth track on Come on Over and one of the four songs from the album to not become a single. It is also one of the songs that showcases Shania's love of exclamation points.
Shania, to my knowledge, has never performed this one live but I would love if she did. I absolutely love the vibe of the song and think it could have easily worked as another single from the album.
Final Score: 8/10
Here we go Yeah!
Deep in Denialville Tryin' a' fight the way I feel I go jello when you smile I start blushin', my head rushin' If you stand too close to me I might melt down from the heat If you look my way one more time I'm gonna go out of my mind
Whatever you do
Don't even think about it Don't go and get me started Don't you dare drive me crazy Don't do that to me, baby Oh yeah
You stop me in my tracks My heart pumping to the max I'm such a sucker for your eyes They permanently paralyze
Whatever you do
Don't even think about it Don't go and get me started Don't you dare drive me crazy Don't do that to me, baby
(Whatever you do, don't do that to me) Oh You got my heart under attack You give me shivers down my back Do you have to walk the way you do? I get weak just watching you
Whatever you do
Don't even think about it Don't go and get me started Don't you dare drive me crazy Don't do that to me, baby Don't even think about it Don't go and get me started Don't you dare drive me crazy Don't do that to me, baby
Don't do that, don't do that

"If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask!" (4:04) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask!" because CONSENT IS IMPORTANT. And it is the ninth song on Come on Over and one of the four songs from the album to not be a single. As such it does not have a music video and it was also never performed live to my knowledge.
I love this song mainly because of the message. Also, the production and Shania's voice on the track are both phenomenal. I don't have much else to say but just this song is great.
Final Score: 8/10
Let me let you in on a secret How to treat a woman right If you're looking for a place in her heart It ain't gonna happen overnight
First you gotta learn to listen To understand her deepest thoughts She needs to know you can be friends Before she'll give you all she's got
If you start from the heart You'll see love is gonna play it's part
If you wanna get to know her (Know her) Really get inside her mind If you wanna move in closer (Closer) Take it slow, yeah, take your time You must start from the heart and then... If you wanna touch her Really wanna touch her If you wanna touch her, ask! Mmm, baby
A little physical attraction Romantic, old-fashioned charm And a lot of love and tenderness Is gonna get you into her arms
You gotta start from the heart You'll see love is gonna play it's part
If you wanna get to know her (Know her) Really get inside her mind If you wanna move in closer (Closer) Take it slow, yeah, take your time You must start from the heart and then... If you wanna touch her Really wanna touch her If you wanna touch her, ask!
Let me let you in on a secret How to treat a woman right If you're looking for a place in her heart It ain't gonna happen No, it ain't gonna happen
If you wanna get to know her Oh, really get inside her mind Deep down If you wanna move in closer Take it slow, yeah, take your time, no, no, no If you wanna get to know her (Get to know her) Really get inside her mind (Oh, really get inside her mind) If you wanna move in closer (Move in closer, baby) Take it slow, yeah, take your time You must start from the heart You'll see love is gonna play it's part If you wanna touch her Really wanna touch her If you wanna touch her, ask!

"You're Still the One" (3:34) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Music Video
Live Performance
"You're Still the One" remains one of Shania's signature songs and is often played at weddings. Shania and Mutt originally wrote the song to deflect naysayers about their relationship. But even after the divorce, Shania found new meaning in the song and continues to play it in concerts today.
The song was released as the third single from the album on January 13, 1998 and reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #2 on Billboard Hot 100. It remains criminal that this song never reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 much like its parent album.
Most of the music video was filmed on a beach with some scenes being in a beach house due to unfortunate weather during filming. The music was nominated for a Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards which made Shania the first female country artist to be nominated for the award show.
This song is just so iconic and a classic in Shania's discography. It is such a sing-a-long and one that will be remembered for many years to come.
Final Score: 8/10
When I first saw you, I saw love And the first time you touched me, I felt love And after all this time You're still the one I love Mmm, yeah
Looks like we made it Look how far we've come, my baby We mighta took the long way We knew we'd get there someday
They said, "I bet they'll never make it" But just look at us holdin' on We're still together, still goin' strong
(You're still the one) You're still the one I run to The one that I belong to You're still the one I want for life (You're still the one) You're still the one that I love The only one I dream of You're still the one I kiss goodnight
Ain't nothin' better We beat the odds together I'm glad we didn't listen Look at what we would be missin'
They said, "I bet they'll never make it" But just look at us holdin' on We're still together, still goin' strong
(You're still the one) You're still the one I run to The one that I belong to You're still the one I want for life (You're still the one) You're still the one that I love The only one I dream of You're still the one I kiss goodnight You're still the one
(Ooh, ooh, ooh) Yeah
(You're still the one) You're still the one I run to The one that I belong to You're still the one I want for life, oh, yeah (You're still the one) You're still the one that I love The only one I dream of You're still the one I kiss goodnight

"Honey, I'm Home" (3:39) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Honey, Shania didn't film a music video for this song for some reason. "Honey, I'm Home" was released on August 10, 1998 as the sixth out of twelve singles from Come on Over.
"Honey, I'm Home" reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and has continued to be performed on most of her concerts and residencies.
I have the same feelings toward this song as the title track of the album. I like both of them however they are at the bottom of the album for me. It's an okay song.
Final Score: 6/10
The car won't start, it's falling apart I was late for work and the boss got smart My pantyline shows, got a run in my hose My hair went flat, man, I hate that (Hate that) Oh, just when I thought things couldn't get worse I realized I forgot my purse With all this stress, I must confess This could be worse than PMS
This job ain't worth the pay Can't wait until the end of the day Hey honey, I'm on my way Hey (Hey) Hey (Hey) Hey
Honey, I'm home and I had a hard day Pour me a cold one and oh, by the way Rub my feet, give me something to eat Fix me up my favorite treat Honey, I'm back, my neck's killing me I need to relax and watch TV Get off the phone, give the dog a bone Hey (Hey) Hey Honey, I'm home
I broke a nail opening the mail I cursed out loud 'cause it hurt like hell This job's a pain; it's so mundane It sure don't stimulate my brain
This job ain't worth the pay Can't wait until the end of the day Hey honey, I'm on my way Hey (Hey) Hey (Hey) Hey, hey, hey
Oh, rub my neck, will you? Yeah, woo Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Mmm, I'm home Oh Oh, that feels much better

"That Don't Impress Me Much" (3:38) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Music Video
Live Performance
That does impress me much. And by that, I mean this incredible song. "That Don't Impress Me Much" was released as the seventh single from Come on Over on December 7, 1998. Despite the iconic-ness of the song, it only reached #8 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
The leopard outfit Shania wears in the music video continues to inspire outfits she wears to this day. She even brought out the original outfit for the Queen of Me tour.
I absolutely love this song and love how fun and carefree it is. This song and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" are the two songs I would say are the most associated with Shania. She has had many hits but these two songs are what she is best known for.
Final Score: 9.5/10
Ow Uh-huh, yeah, yeah
I've known a few guys who thought they were pretty smart But you've got being right down to an art You think you're a genius, you drive me up the wall You're a regular original, a know-it-all
Oh-oh, you think you're special Oh-oh, you think you're something else Okay, so you're a rocket scientist
That don't impress me much So you got the brains, but have you got the touch? Now, don't get me wrongโyeah, I think you're alright But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night That don't impress me much Uh-huh, yeah, yeah
I never knew a guy who carried a mirror in his pocket And a comb up his sleeveโjust in case And all that extra hold gel in your hair oughta lock it โCause heaven forbid it should fall outta place
Oh-oh, you think you're special Oh-oh, you think you're something else Okay, so you're Brad Pitt
That don't impress me much (Oh, oh, uuh) So you got the looks, but have you got the touch? Now, don't get me wrongโyeah, I think you're alright But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night That don't impress me much Yeah
You're one of those guys who likes to shine his machine You make me take off my shoes before you let me get in I can't believe you kiss your car good night Come on, baby, tell me, you must be joking, right?
Oh-oh, you think you're something special Oh-oh, you think you're something else Okay, so you've got a car
That don't impress me much (Oh, oh, uuh) So you got the moves, but have you got the touch? Now, don't get me wrongโyeah, I think you're alright But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night That don't impress me much (Don't impress me) Oh, oh no, you think you're cool, but have you got the touch? Now, now, don't get me wrongโyeah, I think you're alright But that won't keep me warm on the long, cold, lonely night That don't impress me much Uh-huh, yeah, yeah
Okay, so what do you think, you're Elvis or something? (Whatever) That don't impress me

"Black Eyes, Blue Tears" (3:39) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
After taking Friday off, I am back with Shania's reviews. Next up is "Black Eyes, Blue Tears" which is one my favorite non-singles by Shania. It is the 13th track on Come on Over. I absolutely love this and wish it would have been a single with a proper music video.
I love how the song flows, how Shania sounds, everything about it. The outro with Shania talking brings me so much joy for some reason. Final Score: 10/10
Black eyes, I don't need 'em Blue tears, give me freedom Oh, yeah Oh
Positively never goin' back I won't live where things are so out of whack No more rollin' with the punches No more usin' or abusin'
I'd rather die standin' Than live on my knees Begging please, no more
Black eyes, I don't need 'em Blue tears, give me freedom Black eyes, all behind me Blue tears will never find me now
Definitely found my self esteem Finally I'm forever free to dream No more crying in the corner No excuses, no more bruises
I'd rather die standin' Than live on my knees Begging please, no more
Black eyes, I don't need 'em Blue tears, give me freedom Black eyes, all behind me Blue tears will never find me now
I'd rather die standin' Than live on my knees Begging please, no more
Black eyes, I don't need 'em Blue tears, give me freedom Black eyes, all behind me Blue tears will never find me now
Oh, never find me now It's all behind me, they'll never find me now Find your self-esteem and be forever free to dream

"I Won't Leave You Lonely" (4:13) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"I Won't Leave You Lonely" rounds out as the last non-single from the album. Because the album is stacked full of many hits, I did not fully appreciate this song until I got older. I have come to enjoy the song quite a lot.
I don't have much else to say about the song but I do think it fits well this the rest of the album.
Final Score: 8/10
Together, midnight in summer The air's so much warmer Falling in love under starlight Holding on so tight together
I won't leave you lonely tonight I want you to hold me all night It's gonna be alright I won't leave you lonely tonight
Imagine the air filled with Jasmine The breeze blows with passion You and me dance with desire The moon is on fire Imagine
I won't leave you lonely tonight I want you to hold me all night It's gonna be alright I won't leave you lonely tonight
Je t'aime beaucoup, mon amour You are the one I adore
I won't leave you lonely tonight I want you to hold me all night It's gonna be alright I won't leave you lonely tonight
Na-na-na Te amo mucho mi amor You are the one I adore Te amo

"Rock This Country!" (4:23)
Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
We're gonna rock....this song all night long. "Rock This Country!" is the 15th song and 11th single from Come on Over released on January 10, 2000. This is one of the few singles from Shania's career that did not get an official music video.
This is not one of my favorite singles by Shania but I like it enough. I like that she is not specific with what country she is talking about. Shania is from Canada but spent a good portion of time building her career in the United States. So, it could really be about either country or maybe not even either of them. The song itself is okay.
Final Score: 7/10
I woke up this morning with a buzz rollin' 'round in my brain I haven't been drinkin', but it feels pretty good just the same It must be contagious, looks like it's goin' around It's cool once you catch it, you can't keep your feet on the ground
Oh now, come on, come on, let's get something started (Let's get something started now) Come on, come on, let's start something now (Let's start something now)
We're gonna rock this country We're gonna rock this country Every brown-eyed boy, every blue-eyed girl Gotta really go psycho, give it a whirl We're gonna rock this country Right outta this world Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Come on, come on, let's get something started (Let's get something started now) Oh yeah, come on, come on, let's start something now (Let's start something now)
We're gonna rock this country We're gonna rock this country Every brown-eyed boy, every blue-eyed girl Gotta really go psycho, give it a whirl We're gonna rock this country Right outta this world Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Let's go Hey, hey, hey
We're pluggin' in the power Crankin' up the sound It's comin' your direction It's headin' to your town We're kickin' up dust Blowin' off steam Let's get nuts Now everybody scream
We're gonna rock this country We're gonna rock this country Every brown-eyed boy, every blue-eyed girl Got gotta really go psycho, give it a whirl We're gonna rock this country Right outta this world Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Ah-ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na

"You've Got a Way" (3:29) Album: Come on Over (1997) Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Music Video
Live Performance
We have made it the final song on Come on Over with "You've Got a Way". Outside of the album, the song is also known for being in the film "Notting Hill" starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts (which I definitely recommend you watch).
The song itself is so romantic and is a perfect closer for the album in my opinion. The music video is really dreamy and perfectly matches the tone of the song. I quite enjoy this song and am glad it was released as the ninth single from the album.
Final Score: 8/10
You've got a way with me Somehow you got me to believe In everything that I could be I've gotta say, you really got a way You've got a way it seems You gave me faith to find my dreams You'll never know just what that means Can't you see? You've got a way with me
It's in the way you want me It's in the way you hold me The way you show me just what love's made of It's in the way we make love
You've got a way with words You get me smiling even when it hurts There's no way to measure what your love is worth I can't believe the way you get through to me
It's in the way you want me It's in the way you hold me The way you show me just what love's made of It's in the way we make love
Oh, how I adore you Like no one before you I love you just the way you are
It's in the way you want me Oh, it's in the way you hold me The way you show me just what love's made of It's in the way we make love
It's just the way you are

There's only Up! from here! After I finished reviewing Shania's third studio album, I decided to take a break. I originally started the reviews on Shania's birthday and since today is mine, I thought why not start up the next era. Shania's fourth studio album Up! was released on November 19, 2002 and went on to have a measly eight singles after 12 were released from the previous era. The album featured 19 tracks and was released in three versions: country (green), pop (red), and Indian film-style (blue). This album remains my favorite Shania album and one of my favorite albums of all time. Let's review it, shall we...
1. "Up!" 2. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!"
3. "She's Not Just a Pretty Face" 4. "Juanita"
5. "Forever and for Always"
6. "Ain't No Particular Way"
7. "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing"
8. "Nah!"
9. "(Wanna Get to Know You) That Good!"
10. "C'est la vie" 11. "I'm Jealous"
12. "Ka-Ching!"
13. "Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon)"
14. "Waiter! Bring Me Water!"
15. "What a Way to Wanna Be!"
16. "I Ain't Goin' Down"
17. "I'm Not in the Mood (To Say No)!"
18. "In My Car (I'll Be the Driver)"
19. "When You Kiss Me"

The title track of Up! is the first song on the album and was released as the second single on January 6, 2003. I have always loved how bouncy this song is and how joyously carefree is it as well. This is the definition of a "feel-good" song.
The music video includes Shania dancing around in a white room and features different photographs and items relating to Shania. The energetic video won the MuchMoreMusic Video of the Year Award in 2003.
The song itself reached #12 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #63 on the Billboard Hot 100. It definitely should have charted higher on both charts.
Shania continues to perform this song during all of her tours and residencies. It will probably remain a staple for the rest of her career which I think is the right move because the song is great and so uplifting.
Final Score: 10/10
I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) I'm goin' up I'm goin' up, up, up, up
It's 'bout as bad as it could be Seems everybody's buggin' me Like nothing wants to go my way Yeah, it just ain't been my day Nothing's coming easily
Even my skin is acting weird I wish that I could grow a beard Then I could cover up my spots Not play connect the dots I just wanna disappear
Up, up, up Can only go up from here Up, up, up Where the clouds gonna clear Up, up, up There's no way but up from here
Even something as simple as Forgetting to fill up on gas There ain't no explanation why Things like that can make you cry Just gotta learn to have a laugh
Up, up, up Can only go up from here Up, up, up Where the clouds gonna clear Up, up, up There's no way but up from here
Oh Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
When everything is goin' wrong Don't worry, it won't last for long Yeah, it's all gonna come around Don't go let it get you down You gotta keep on holding on
It's about as bad as it could be (Bad as it could be) Seems everybody's bugging me (Everybody's bugging me) Like nothing wants to go my way Yeah, it just ain't been my day Nothing's coming easily Oh, oh, oh, oh
And up, up, up Can only go up from here Up, up, up Where the clouds gonna clear Up, up, up There's no way but up from here Up, up, up, ooh I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) Up, up, up, up, I'm goin' up (I'm goin' up) Ohh

YES!!!!!!! @ 10/10 for "Black Eyes, Blue Tears"
Fun Fact: In the early 2000s, there was a page on Amazon for an import single of "Black Eyes, Blue Tears" that was always out of stock. So my brain always wants to think of it as a single.

"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" (4:29/4:29/4:34)
Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain
Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
We have reached what I claim as one of my favorite songs... ever. From the opening instrumental to the bombastic production throughout, I have loved this song ever since I first heard it as a young boy. Every time I think about this song, it automatically gets stuck in my head.
"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" was released as the album's first single on October 7, 2002 and is the second track on the album's tracklist. The song reached #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 (should have been higher) and #7 on the Hot Country Charts (should have been higher). Despite Shania being the best selling female country artist of all time, her songs deserved better on the charts.
The futuristic music video consists of Shania being chased on a motorcycle by a robot who turns out to be another Shania. I have always loved the music video for how unique it is. Some of Shania's more recent music videos have been lackluster compared to the "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" video.
This song remains a staple in Shania's career on tour and during her Vegas residencies. I hope she never retires this one because I personally enjoy it too much to see it disappear from her setlist. She truly gets us good with this song!
Final Score: 10/10

"She's Not Just a Pretty Face" (3:49/3:49/3:40)
Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Shania is not just a pretty face! And the song is great too. I've always wondered why Shania didn't include this song on her greatest hits album, but she definitely should have because it is a hit in my eyes.
"She's Not Just a Pretty Face" is the third track on Up! and was released as the sixth single on October 6, 2003. The song reached #9 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #56 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Originally, album track "Nah!" was supposed to be the sixth single but "She's Not Just a Pretty Face" was chosen instead. I think both of them were worthy for the spot.
The song's official music video is a concert video which is disappointing to me. I would have loved for Shania to play the multiple characters that she displays throughout the song.
Final Score: 9/10
(Oh na, na, na, na, na)
She hosts a TV show She rides the rodeo She plays the bass in a band She's an astronaut A valet at the parking lot A farmer working the land She is a champion She gets the gold She's a ballerina The star of the show
She's not just a pretty face She's got everything it takes
She has a fashion line A journalist for "TIME" Coaches a football team She's a geologist A romance novelist She is a mother of three She is a soldier She is a wife She is a surgeon She'll save your life
She's not just a pretty face She's got everything it takes She's mother of the human race She's not just a pretty face
Oh, oh-oh, yeah Oh, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na
She is your waitress She is your judge She is your teacher She is every woman in the world Oh, la, la, la, la, la
She flies an airplane She drives a subway train At night, she pumps gasoline She's on the council She's on the board She's a politician She praises the Lord
She's not just a pretty face She's got everything it takes She's mother of the human race She's not, oh
No, she's (She's) not (not) Just a pretty face She's (She's) got (Got) everything it takes She's not just a pretty face She's got everything it takes She's not just a pretty face

"Juanita" (3:51/3:50/3:51) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"Juanita" is the fourth song on Up! and was not released as a single. I have always loved how smooth this song sounds. The production compliments Shania's voice perfectly and it makes for a great song.
I can see why this was not released as a single compared to the other songs on the album. While I do enjoy this one, I do believe other songs on the album are stronger and were more worthy of being singles so I am okay with this one being just an album track.
The last time Shania performed this song was during the Up! tour and I would not mind if she brought it back from time to time. Even though her current voice might struggle with the song, I think she could rework it a bit to make it easier for her to sing.
Final Score: 7.5/10
Hey Oh, oh Yeah, yeah Oh
She is the restless river running through my veins She rides without the reins Her name's Juanita She lives in the heart of every woman in the world Within' the reach of every girl who wants to meet her
(She's gonna be riding through) Her name's Juanita (She's gonna be riding free) She's riding free (She's gonna be inside of you, gonna be inside of me) She's inside of you and inside of me, yeah
Oh, go with her, flow with her Dream with her, scream with her Let her take over, or just get to know her Be everything you can be If you can find her and free her Juanita will unchain your heart
When someone tries to take away the freedom of your choice To take away your voice, that's when you need her She's there if you dare to give her broken wings a try Come on and take a leap and fly (Gon' try), and you can be her (Oh Juanita)
(She's gonna be riding through) Oh Juanita (She's gonna be riding free) Riding free (She's gonna be part of you, gonna a part of me) She's a part of you and a part of me, yeah
Oh, go with her, flow with her Yeah, dream with her, scream with her Oh, let her take over, or just get to know her Be everything you can be If you can find her and free her Juanita will unchain your heart Ooh
Oh, Juanita Yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Hm, yeah Ah
Oh, go with her, flow with her (Juanita) Dream with her, scream with her (Juanita) Let her take over, or just get to know her Be everything you can be Oh, go with her, flow with her (Juanita) Oh, dream with her, scream with her (Juanita) Let her take over, or just get to know her Be everything you can be Oh, if you can find her and free her Juanita will unchain your heart

"Forever and for Always" (4:43/4:43/4:52) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"Forever and for Always" is the fifth track and fourth single from Shania Twain's album Up!. The romantic ballad sounds so smooth and just flows so well. I am glad this became a single. The single reached #4 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Forever and for Always" was the best performing song from the Up! era on the country charts. I prefer "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" but this one is also deserving of its success.
The music video depicts Shania on a beach which is a recurring feature in her music videos. The picturesque video was filmed in New Zealand and matches the mood for the song perfectly in my opinion.
Shania did not perform this song for the longest time after she return from her hiatus but she finally brought it back during the "Let's Go" residency. I hope she continues to perform it for years to come.
Final Score: 9/10
Mmm, mmm Mmm, in your arms Ohh I can hear your heartbeat now I can hear it beating loud
In your arms I can still feel the way you want me when you hold me I can still hear the words you whispered when you told me I can stay right here forever in your arms
And there ain't no way I'm letting you go now And there ain't no way And there ain't no how I'll never see that day
'Cause I'm keeping you forever and for always We will be together all of our days Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face Always Mmm, baby
In your heart I can still hear a beat for every time you kiss me And when we're apart, I know how much you miss me I can feel your love for me in your heart
And there ain't no way (And there ain't no way) I'm letting you go now And there ain't no way (And there ain't no way) And there ain't no how I'll never see that day
'Cause I'm keeping you forever and for always We will be together all of our days Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face Always
Oh, yeah Wanna wake up every morning, yeah Oh
In your eyes (I can still see the look of the one) I can still see the look of the one who really loves me (I can still feel the way that you want) The one who wouldn't put anything else in the world above me (I can still see love for me) I can still see love for me in your eyes (I still see the love)
And there ain't no way (And there ain't no way) I'm letting you go now And there ain't no way (And there ain't no way) And there ain't no how I'll never see that day
'Cause I'm keeping you forever and for always We will be together all of our days Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face I'm keeping you forever and for always We will be together all of our days Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face I'm keeping you forever and for always
Oh I'm keeping you forever Got to keep you, baby Oh, forever In your arms

"Ain't No Particular Way" (4:25/4:25/4:27) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"Ain't No Particular Way" is track six ofn Shania's 2002 album Up!. This song is one of the eleven from the project to not be released as a single. I do believe it would have worked well as one, though.
Shania performed the song during the Up! tour but has not brought it back since. I hope she brings it back at some point because I really enjoy the melody in this one. I would even be okay with her including it in a medley like she did with a few song on her Queen of Me tour.
Because it wasn't released as a single, the song does not have a music video. I think every song from the album could have had a video, regardless if it was a single or not.
Final Score: 8/10
Here it comes Mmm, the thing about love
Love has a way to find ya Sneaks up right behind ya There ain't no particular way You don't know when it's gonna Come runnin' 'round the corner There ain't no particular way

Oh, it could come so fast, it fools ya Might take its time to move ya There ain't no particular way It might just drift in while you're dreamin' It don't sleep, always schemin' There ain't no particular way
So, don't give up (Don't give up on love 'til you get your share) You're gonna get your share The thing about love (The thing about love is it's) Is that it's everywhere
There ain't nowhere it won't hide (There ain't nowhere it won't hide) There ain't no speed it won't drive (There ain't no speed it won't drive) There ain't no law it won't break (There ain't no law it won't break) And there ain't no chance it won't take There ain't no, no particular way
Ohh Yeah You can't hide, oh
(There ain't no time) It comes when you least expect it (There ain't no day) When you thought you've been rejected (There ain't no how) There ain't no particular way, yeah (There ain't no way) (There ain't no why) Love ain't for just the lucky (There ain't no way) It's there for everybody (There ain't no why) There ain't no particular way, yeah (There ain't no way)
So, don't give up (Don't give up on love 'til you get your share) You're gonna get your share The thing about love (The thing about love is it's) Is that it's everywhere
There ain't nowhere it won't hide (There ain't nowhere it won't hide) There ain't no speed it won't drive (There ain't no speed it won't drive) There ain't no law it won't break (Oh, no, no) (There ain't no law it won't break) There ain't no chance it won't take (There ain't nowhere it won't hide) There ain't nowhere it won't hide (There ain't no speed it won't drive) I'm gonna tell you now There ain't no speed it won't drive

"It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing" (3:19/3:20/3:32) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing" is track #7 on Up! and was released as the eighth and final single from the 19 track project. According to Wikipedia, the song received mixed reviews. Hartford Courant writer Eric R. Danton's review included a part stating the song was a "spectacularly cynical attempt to make money while expending as little effort as possible." While I get what the writer was saying, I do not find it to be a "cynical attempt".
The song to have a message that a lot of people can relate to which is not a bad thing. Missing one's partner when they are apart is a completely natural feeling and Shania and Mutt managed to show those feelings in an almost three-and-a-half minute song which deserves credit.
"It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing" reached #18 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #71 on the Billboard Hot 100. It fared better in Shania's home country of Canada.
The song does not have a music video but Shania did perform it during the making of the Up! Tour DVD. She has not performed it since. Because of the relatively laid back feeling of the song, I feel she could add it back into her current concerts and still manage it with her new voice.
Final Score: 7.5/10
Oh, no, no, no
Hope life's been good to you Since you've been gone I'm doing fine now โ I've finally moved on It's not so bad โ I'm not that sad I'm not surprised just how well I survived I'm over the worst, and I feel so alive I can't complain โ I'm free again
And it only hurts when I'm breathing My heart only breaks when it's beating My dreams only die when I'm dreaming So, I hold my breath โ to forget
Don't think I'm lyin' 'round, cryin' at night There's no need to worry, I'm really alright I've never looked back โ as a matter of fact
And it only hurts when I'm breathing My heart only breaks when it's beating My dreams only die when I'm dreaming So, I hold my breath โ to forget
It only hurts when I breathe Mmm, no, I've never looked back As a matter of fact
And it only hurts when I'm breathing My heart only breaks when it's beating My dreams only die when I'm dreaming So, I hold my breath โ to forget
Hurts when I'm breathing Breaks when it's beating Die when I'm dreaming It only hurts when I breathe

"Nah" (4:09/4:14/4:05) Album: Up!
Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"Nah" is track eight on Up! and is one of the album's tracks not to be released as a single. There were possible plans during the era for it to be released as a single but those plans never came to fruition.
I have always enjoyed this song and wished it would have received a music video. The song is all about how Shania had fun in a relationship but if given the chance, she would not go through with it again. The narrator does not regret the relationship but still thinks that their time together should remain in the past.
Shania performed the song during the Up! tour and has since brought it back in a medley of other songs during the Queen of Me tour. I am glad she brought it back and hope she continues to perform it in years to come.
Final Score: 8/10 Ohh Oh, yeah Oh, oh, yeah, yeah Oh
I thought I might begin by filling you in In case you didn't already know I'll never forget how you got up and left In fact, it was downright pretty low There ain't no way I wanna You know I ain't gonna Take you back, so don't even try You can beg, you can plead You can sweat, you can bleed Too bad I could care if you cry
That's it! (That's all!) We had fun (Had a ball) It was good while it lasted But now I'm past it (It was short!) It was sweet Sure you swept me off my feet I miss you now and then But would I do it all again? Nah!
You won't find me Naked and cold, justa sittin' on the doctor's table Waitin' to be told justa why I'm no longer able to feel my heart beatin' Give me a good reason why I kinda went numb Just around about the time you told me you were movin' on And you said that you were gonna phone me It's been so long and there ain't nothin' wrong with the line
It's too late to regret it But you're the one who said it We're better off being apart I hate to be a downer But don't bother comin' 'round here 'Cause I won't have a change of heart (A change of heart)
Nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah Ha Hey, yeah, yeah
Well, I hope you learned a lesson 'Cause you'll never be messing With my head again the way that you did It was never gonna work; you were too much of a jerk I'm finally fed up with it
That's it! (That's all!) We had fun (Had a ball) It was good while it lasted But now I'm past it (It was short!) It was sweet Sure you swept me off my feet I miss you now and then But would I do it all again? Nah!

"(Wanna Get to Know You) That Good!" (4:34/4:31/4:28) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"(Wanna Get to Know You) That Good!" is track #9 on Up! and one of the songs to not be released as a single.
I do not have a ton to say about this song. I find it enjoyable but I can understand why it stayed an album track. I like how Shania continued her naming technique with the use of parentheses and exclamation points.
It is to my knowledge that Shania has never performed this one live. It would be cool to see at least one though. She said she is taking requests for her current residency in Las Vegas so anything is possible.
Final Score: 7/10 Oh Mmm, yeah, yeah Oh, oh
I'll be there when you're sleepin' And every hour you're awake I wanna hear your secrets Wanna share your worries Wanna go the deepest I don't wanna hurry I wanna take a lifetime To memorize your face Wanna hold you closer; kiss you longer Wanna hear your heartbeat Stronger and stronger
Wanna know you all over Till I know you by heart Gotta know you with all that I got
I wanna know you that good Like no one knows you Gonna reach way down deep in your mind I wanna get to know you Wanna get to know Wanna get to know you that good Gonna know you right through You know I want to So badly, it hurts all the time I wanna get to know you Wanna get to know you Wanna get to know you that good Yeah, I wanna know you that good
Every feel of your fingers Every curl in your hair Don't wanna miss a minute Wanna be right in it Do everything you're doing Go everywhere you're going
Wanna know you all over Till I know you by heart Gotta know you with all that I got
I wanna know you that good Like no one knows you Gonna reach way down deep in your mind I wanna get to know you Wanna get to know Wanna get to know you that good
Oh Oh, yeah, yeah Oh Oh, wanna know you that good
Wanna know your emotions Wanna taste every tear I wanna hear you breathing Feel what you're feeling I wanna get to know
Know you that good Like no one knows you Gonna reach way down deep in your mind I wanna get to know you Wanna get to know I wanna get to know you Wanna get to know I wanna get to know you To know you Oh, oh Oh, oh
I wanna know you by heart Oh, I wanna know you that good

"C'est la vie" (3:43/3:39/3:36) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"C'est la vie" which roughly translates to "that's life" is track #10 on Shania Twain's 2002 album Up!. This was one of the 11 songs on the album that were not released as a single.
I have always loved this song and think it is a great sing-along. Based on comments I have seen on the Internet, I believe this song to be a fan favorite and I 100% understand why.
Similarities between the chorus of "C'est la vie" and ABBA's "Dancing Queen" have been made over the years and I definitely hear the similarities. Whether it was meant as an official interpolation or purely a coincidence has never been confirmed.
Shania has not performed the song since the Up! Tour. This would be a nice one to welcome back into her repertoire. It is a good one.
Final Score: 9/10
Oh yeah Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
It must be Monday What a dumb day Can't drag my butt outta bed Somebody stop me I need another coffee Like a hole in my head
When every day begins this way Gets you down and can drive you mad The daily grind can freak your mind But life isn't all that bad
Don't let it get to you C'est la vie That's life and that's how it's gonna be C'est la vie Hold tight, it comes right eventually Oh
If only I could sleep in And wake up on the weekend Oh, what a dream that would be, yeah But fat chance for that one It ain't gonna happen Better get back to reality
I could be a slob or keep my job That is the choice we have The daily grind can freak your mind But life isn't all that bad
Don't let it get to you C'est la vie That's life and that's how it's gonna be C'est la vie Hold tight, it comes right eventually Oh
Everybody's got to do it Everybody's got to earn their way Oh, come on now You gotta work your own way through it Everybody's got their dues to pay Hey, yeah
Oh, the daily grind can freak your mind But life isn't all that bad
Don't let it get to you C'est la vie That's life and that's how it's gonna be C'est la vie Hold tight, it comes right eventually Yeah, yeah, yeah C'est la vie That's life and that's how it's gonna be Oh, come on, now C'est la vie Hold tight, it comes right eventually Oh
Oh C'est la vie

"(I Wanna Get To Know You) That Good!" remains one of my low-key faves from Shania's entire career. I think the chorus melody is set up in a way that feels very reminiscent of the Martina/Faith style vocalists that we all know I eat up. Something about the pre-chorus leading into the chorus just feels so epic! And I think this is a song that actually requires her to show off her good singing chops, where a lot of her career just requires a stylized personality.
Also, the chorus of "Nah" has NO RIGHT TO SLAP THAT HARD!!!! I remember 8-year old me going absolutely NUTS over that chorus! Why is it so catchy?! When is she going to breathe?!! All the important questions!

"I'm Jealous" (4:05/3:59/4:10) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Have you ever been jealous of an inanimate object? Well Shania Twain has. "I'm Jealous" is track #11 on Up! and has some very interesting lyrics. The song details the narrator being jealous of basically everything that the person they like can see or come into contact with. The last line of the song is "I'm even jealous of the moon" which just goes to show how deep that jealously is.
The song was never released as a single and I can completely understand why. While I enjoy the song, the lyrics are definitely bizarre and I do not think it would have worked on the radio. To my knowledge, the only time Shania has ever performed this song live was last year during a brief impromptu acoustic moment during the Queen of Me tour.
I do like how well this song flows and am glad it ended up on Up! but it is not one of my most favorites. It is still one I enjoy though every time I play the album.
Final Score: 7/10
Mmm, yeah
If I were the moon, I could catch your eye I'm jealous of the moon If I were the wind, I would make you fly I'm jealous of that too Mmm, yeah, yeah Mmm, oh
I wish I were the sun shining on your face Caressing like a lover I would wrap you up in a warm embrace We'd be holding one another (I'm jealous of the sun) I'm jealous of the sun (Jealous of the sun) I'm jealous of the sun Oh, I'm jealous of the sun (Jealous of the sun)
Oh, I don't wanna share you with nothing else I gotta have you to myself Oh, I can't help it, I'm so in love I just can't get you close enough, no
When the sun's on your skin I can't hold it in And I know it's a sin But I'm jealous of the sun
I wish I were the rain running down your neck And dripping from your fingers Then I could be the drops rolling off your back I'd love to let it linger (Jealous of the rain) Oh, I'm jealous of the rain (Jealous of the rain)
Oh, I don't wanna share you with nothing else I gotta have you to myself I can't help it, I'm so in love (So in love) I just can't get you close enough, no
When it rains on your face (When it rains on your face) I almost can taste (I almost can taste) Your beauty, your grace (So beautiful) I'm jealous of the rain Yeah, yeah Ooh, I'm jealous of the rain
When the wind's in your hair (I can feel it blowing) The way it blows through the air (It's so unfair) Oh, it seems so unfair, yeah When the moon's in your eyes (Moon's in your eyes) You seem to light up the skies (Light up the skies)
Yeah, and I realize I'm even jealous of the moon

The arrangement of "I'm Jealous" is everything. I could probably have sex dreams about the moment when the bass and the piano suddenly drop in after the opening lyrical couplet...

Lol, the piano part is one of my favorite parts of the song so I can completely understand why you would feel that way. The smoothness of the song (and most of this album actually) remain timeless.

"Ka-Ching!" (3:21/3:20/3:33) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain
Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
"Ka-Ching!", we've made it to #12 on Up!. Released exclusively in Europe and Central America as the second single, this song definitely deserved a worldwide release. I absolutely love this song and wish Shania would have done more experimental songs using different sounds (such as the coins in the song). The song talks about topics that you don't commonly hear in songs which I thought was cool.
Shania performed the song during the Up! Tour and briefly did a portion of the song on the Now Tour in Europe but to my knowledge, she has not performed it since. I would even be content with her including it in some sort of medley like she did with the Queen of Me tour.
Because it wasn't released as a single in the United States, it never charted on either the Hot Country Songs chart or the Billboard Hot 100. Futhermore, the song was not included on the U.S. version of Shania's Greatest Hits album but was included on the International Version.
Overall, this is a great song and I wish it would have received single treatment in more countries.
Final Score: 10/10
Mm, oh
We live in a greedy little world That teaches every little boy and girl To earn as much as they can possibly Then turn around and spend it foolishly We've created us a credit card mess We spend the money that we don't possess Our religion is to go and blow it all So we're shoppin' every Sunday at the mall
All we ever want is more A lot more than we had before So take me to the nearest store
(Ka-ching!) Can you hear it ring? (Ka-ching!) It makes you wanna sing (Ka-ching!) It's such a beautiful thing Ka-ching! (Ka-ching!) Lots of diamond rings (Ka-ching!) The happiness it brings (Ka-ching!) You'll live like a king With lots of money and things
When you're broke, go and get a loan Take out another mortgage on your home Consolidate so you can afford To go and spend some more when you get bored
All we ever want is more A lot more than we had before So take me to the nearest store
(Ka-ching!) Can you hear it ring? (Ka-ching!) It makes you wanna sing (Ka-ching!) It's such a beautiful thing Ka-ching! (Ka-ching!) Lots of diamond rings (Ka-ching!) The happiness it brings (Ka-ching!) You'll live like a king With lots of money and things Let's swing
Dig deeper in your pocket Ooh, yeah, ah Come on, I know you've got it Dig deeper in your wallet Whoa
All we ever want is more A lot more than we had before So take me to the nearest store
(Ka-ching!) Can you hear it ring? (Ka-ching!) It makes you wanna sing (Ka-ching!) It's such a beautiful thing Ka-ching! (Ka-ching!) Lots of diamond rings (Ka-ching!) The happiness it brings (Ka-ching!) You'll live like a king With lots of money and things (Ka-ching!) Can you hear it ring? (Ka-ching!) It makes you wanna sing (Ka-ching!) You'll live like a king With lots of money and things
Ka-ching!
