I think Come on Over is her best work, and it makes sense as its so iconic. But Up! has "highs" that are maybe her highest.

"Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon) (4:01/4:01/4:01)
Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
In what I believe may be one of the longest titles in Shania Twain history, "Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon)" is track #13 on Up!. Released as the fifth single exclusively in Europe, the song did not chart in the United States. It did, however, reach #11 on the UK Singles chart.
The music video was originally also only available in Europe before being posted YouTube for other countries. The video consists of Shania being on different screens in an art gallery. Visitors of the gallery start to notice Shania during the course of the video and decide to watch.
Originally performed during the Up! Tour, Shania brought the song back and featured it in a medley during the Queen of Me Tour which I honestly found shocking. Especially because it was not released as a single in the United States.
Overall, I enjoy the song but it is not one of my favorites from the album. Since she brought it back to tour, Shania must really like the song and I could see it being one she keeps bringing back for years to come.
Final Score: 7/10
Check it out Oh, oh Hmm, oh Oh, thank you baby for lovin' me like you do

"Waiter! Bring Me Water!" (3:20/3:20/3:37) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain
Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Waiter! Check out this song! "Waiter! Bring Me Water!" is track #14 on Up! and one of the eleven to not be released as a single. The lyrics of this song are so iconic and are classic Shania. In the song, the female narrator tries to cool her boyfriend off after he spots a beautiful waitress. The narrator over a waiter to get her boyfriend water. Such an interesting topic for a song.
To my knowledge, Shania has only ever performed this song during the Queen of Me Tour as part of a medley. Sometimes I wonder if she remembers all of her songs considering she's only had a few albums.
While I don't think this song would have made sense as a single, I can imagine how a music video would go considering how visual the lyrics are. This song is just one example of Shania (and Mutt's) great songwriting.
Final Score: 8/10
Yeah
He took me to our favorite spot A place we go to hang a lot Something seemed to catch his eye Over my shoulder Over my shoulder I turned around to see what's up A pretty young thing sure enough She was new, he wanted to Know her Know her
Oh, yeah Then she flicked her hair (Yeah) Oh, yeah, he began to stare
Waiter! (Waiter!) Bring me water! I gotta make him keep his cool (Waiter!) Bring me water! He's acting like a fool (Waiter!) Bring me water!
Uh, oh I did my best to block his view But it was like he could see through me I just knew he wanted to Know her Know her
Oh, yeah, I ain't getting nowhere (Yeah) Oh, yeah, she's still standing there
Waiter! (Waiter!) Bring me water! I gotta make him keep his cool (Waiter!) Bring me water! He's acting like a fool (Waiter!) Bring me water! Ohh, yeah Hah!
There's gotta be a way to cool this clown He's starting to embarrass me I may even have to hose him down Bring me water! I don't know what he finds so distracting What's so hot about her I really don't like the way he's acting Bring me water! Bring it on
Oh What's so hot about her? Uh, uh, uh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Waiter!) Bring me water! I gotta make him keep his cool (Waiter!) Bring me water! Send him back to school (Waiter!) Bring me water! He's acting like a fool (Waiter!) Bring me water! Waiter! Bring me water!

"What a Way to Wanna Be!" (3:36/3:33/3:33) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Occasionally known for her wordy titles, "What a Way to Wanna Be" fits right into that category. The song is #15 on Up! and was not released as single. One of the aspects I love about the Up! era are the songs that talk about topics not commonly discussed in music. In this particular song, Shania sings about how everyone is just following trends instead of thinking for themselves.
Shania performed "What a Way to Wanna Be" during the Up! Tour but has not performed it since. There are some higher parts of the song so I am unsure if her current voice would be able to handle it.
While I don't think this would have made a good single, I think it would have been cool to have a music video focusing on different trends that everyone was gravitating toward (in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way).
Final Score: 8/10
I don't wanna wear that It only makes me look fat Time to tone my thighs, gotta lose another size, yeah What a way to wanna be Exfoliate, look great Feel guilty 'bout what you ate You're buying all the books To learn the latest looks, yeah What a way to wanna be
We like to buy, we like to spend To keep up with the latest trend But we don't get no satisfaction Living like a slave to fashion No more thinking for yourself Just get it off a shelf
Oh-oh, why be perfect? No, oh, it's not worth it Don't be so obsessed C'mon, give it a rest This is not some contest, just do your best 'Cause nobody's perfect What a way to wanna be
Moisturize, exercise Erase the Rings around your eyes Cover what you can Get a Coppertone tan, yeah What a way to wanna be (Wanna be) Stabilize the mood you're in You're back on diet food again Bigger is the best, but only in the chest, yeah What a way to wanna be (Wanna be)
We like to buy, we like to spend To keep up with the latest trend But we don't get no satisfaction Living like a slave to fashion No more thinking for yourself Just get it off a shelf
Oh-oh, why be perfect? No, oh, it's not worth it Don't be so obsessed C'mon, give it a rest This is not some contest, just do your best 'Cause nobody's perfect What a way to wanna be
It's so very unnecessary Yeah, how insane to be so vain It's so synthetic, I just don't get it I don't get it, baby, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Don't be so obsessed C'mon, give it a rest This is not some contest, just do your best 'Cause no-o-body's perfect
Oh, nobody's perfect No, oh, it's not worth it Don't be so obsessed (Nobody's perfect) This is not some contest (Nobody's perfect) What a way to wanna be

"I Ain't Goin' Down" (3:58/3:45/3:43) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
The only thing going down is the amount of songs we have left on this album. "I Ain't Goin' Down" is track #16 on Up! and was one of the tracks not released as a single. The song holds a strong message about peer pressure. Specifically, it tells the story about a young woman refusing to give up her child despite others telling her she should.
It wasn't until I was a lot older before I realized what the song was about. It continues the theme of the album with talking about topics not commonly discussed in music. The narrator of the song uses their own strength to hold on and not give in to what others are telling her she should do. It's a positive message that definitely fits with the Up! album.
To my knowledge, the only time Shania has ever performed "I Ain't Goin' Down" was during the Up! Close and Personal special. The title of the song could also apply to her current life with her voice struggles. She continued to fight through the struggles to make a return to music and did not let anything stop her. Her resilience continues to make her an icon.
Final Score: 9/10
I'm gonna hold on 'Cause what I believe in is so strong No matter how long No one can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down
I had a baby at fifteen Daddy never did forgive me I never heard from the guy again, oh I had to drop outta high school Everybody treated me so cruel But I didn't give in and give her away
I'm gonna hold on 'Cause what I believe in is so strong No matter how long No one can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down
Her smile got me through the day And every night I'd pray I could give her enough At night, I'd lie awake and cry Hoping we'd get by 'Cause you can't live on love
I worked night and day to keep us goin' Through the sweat and tears without her knowing It was worth it just to watch her grow Oh, oh At least I was able to hold her Whenever she needed my shoulder I'm so glad I never let her go
Oh, I'm gonna hold on 'Cause what I believe in is so strong No matter how long No one can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down
Her smile got me through the years Dried away the tears It filled me with hope At night, I'd lie awake and cry Prayed we would get by And for the courage to go, oh
Her smile got me through the day And every night, I'd pray I could give her enough
I'm gonna hold on (Hold on) 'Cause what I believe in is so strong (So strong) No matter how long No one (No one) can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down I'm gonna hold on 'Cause what I believe in is so strong No matter how long No one can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down
No one can tell me I'm wrong I ain't goin' down

"I'm Not in the Mood (To Say No)!" (3:26/3:26/3:23) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Shania is not in the mood to say no! "I'm Not in the Mood (to Say No)!" is #17 on Up! and we are only a few songs away from the end of the album. This is one of the tracks not to be released as a single. The song is about taking chances and stepping outside of one's comfort zone to experience new things.
Shania performed the song during the Up! era but has not brought it back since. While I enjoy this song, I would not say it is one of my favorites from the album. I love every song on this album though so that isn't saying much.
One of the best things about the song is its carefree nature. The narrator wants to go through life having a good time and it is very uplifting just like the album overall.
Final Score: 7/10
Yeah Ok

I won't be laying low (Uh-uh) It's not my style to take it slow (Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh) No, it ain't like me to slack (Uh-uh) There's no time for holding back (Uh-uh-uh-uh)
I won't be sitting down doing nothing I'd rather spend my time doing something Ain't no need to plan it Jump right in and jam it No need to say no Oh, oh, oh
(I'm not in the mood) I'm not in the mood (I'm not in the mood) To be shy To stand by and not give it a try No, I'm not in the mood (I'm not in the mood) To stay home Be alone, face the night on my own No, I'm not in the mood (To say) To say (To say) to say no

"In My Car (I'll Be the Driver)" (3:17/3:15/3:11) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
In Shania's car, she'll be the driver! "In My Car (I'll Be the Driver)" is #18 and the penultimate track on Up! and honestly, it is one of my favorite non-singles from the project. There is just something about this song that I gravitate toward but I cannot put my finger on what it is.
Lyrically, the song talks about finding that one spot that you have complete control over. In the song, the narrator's car is that spot. I agree with the sentiment that everybody should have that one spot where they can be unapologetically themselves and have complete control over. Although, I disagree with the line "it's alright if you sleep with your socks on" - no, it is not alright lol.
Shania performed the song during the Up! era but has not sung it live since. Because of my love for the song, I would like to see it return to her setlists, even if it is just included in a medley like she has done for some of her other album tracks.
Final Score: 10/10
You can choose the channel when we're watchin' the TV Oh, babe, it's okay And you can pick the flavor when we're orderin' ice cream I don't mind, yeah, that's fine I'd do, ooh-ooh-ooh Anything for you, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ahh, it's alright if you sleep with your socks on Oh, babe, it's okay And you can hurt my head with your favorite rock song I don't mind, yeah, that's fine
For you, ooh-ooh-ooh There's nothin' that I wouldn't do, ooh-ooh-ooh You can put a hole in my shoe
But in my car, I'll be the driver In my car, I'm in control In my car, I come alive and In my car, I am the driver
You can blame me when you run outta razors Oh, babe, it's okay And I will run around when you ask me for favors I don't mind, that's fine
For you, ooh-ooh-ooh There's nothin' that I wouldn't do, ooh-ooh-ooh You can put a hole in my shoe
But in my car, I'll be the driver In my car, I'm in control In my car, I come alive and In my car, I am the driver
I don't mind if you think you're the strong one, yeah Oh, babe, it's okay And you can have your way, honey, even when you're wrong I don't mind, yeah, that's fine
For you, ooh-ooh-ooh There's nothin' that I wouldn't do, ooh-ooh-ooh You can put a hole in my shoe
But in my car, I'll be the driver In my car, I'm in control In my car, I come alive and In my car
Not you, ooh-ooh-ooh Not you, ooh-ooh-ooh Not you, ooh-ooh-ooh Yeah, in my car, I'll be the driver

"When You Kiss Me" (4:09/4:07/3:56) Album: Up! Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain Produced: Robert "Mutt" Lange
We have reached the end of the Up! album with track #19, "When You Kiss Me". Released as the 7th single on November 10, 2003, almost a complete year after the album came out, the track reached only #60 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Considering how iconic this song is, I believe that chart position to be quite low.
The original romantic music video depicts Shania on the beach with a man while the alternative video is a one-take with Shania on the beach by herself. Both videos were filmed in black-and-white.
"When You Kiss Me" is another song she performed on the Up! tour but has not performed it since. Given that the album had 19 songs, that is kinda understandable. I'd like to see her bring this one back though. It's so romantic and just a good-feeling song.
Final Score: 9/10
Yeah

Oh, when you kiss me (When you kiss me) I know you miss me (I know you miss me) And when you're with me The world just goes away The way you hold me (The way you kiss me) The way you show me (I know you miss me) That you adore me Oh, when you kiss me Oh, yeah
I can see you with me when I'm older All the lonely nights are finally over You took the weight of the world off my shoulders (The world just goes away)

"Party of Two" (3:31) Featuring: Billy Currington or Mark McGrath
Album: Greatest Hits
Written by: Robert "Mutt" Lange & Shania Twain Produced by: Robert "Mutt" Lange
Shania took a different approach for the song "Party for Two" off of her Greatest Hits album. She collaborated on one version with country artist Billy Currington and with pop artist Mark McGraw on another version. The song marks the second collaboration in Shania's career after having a duet with Bryan White on "From This Moment On".
You could already tell the damage Lyme's Disease has caused to Shania's voice on this song. She still sounds like herself but different at the same time. Her voice would continue to change after this. It's also one that remains a staple in her live shows nowadays.
I honestly do not know which version I prefer. Shania has always skirted the line of genres and working with artists of different genres stays true to that. While I don't go back to this song as much as others in her discography, I still quite enjoy it.
Final Score: 8/10
