Catching up on the main list!
11. Let's Ride - Montell Jordan feat. Master P & Silkk The Shocker: Oooh yess, very glad to see this song come in #11 as this was a very easy last place ranking for me. I liked this and it's a cool song but there are just wayy more songs I like or loved more from '98, so it was disappointing for me this made the list over others. But at least it was easy to decide a last place song. Also wow at 9 #11 rankings and the majority of Bottom 3 rankings.
No complaints.
10. How Deep Is Your Love - Dru Hill feat. Redman: From the Top 10 on this will be difficult, as I love the rest of these 10 songs, lol. This was my #9, which makes me sad to place it there as I do love this song. But I just happen to love other songs more. One of, if not, my favorite song of Dru Hill's.
9. Friend Of Mine - Kelly Price: Oh wait, there was a solo version of this song? I'm so used to the version with Ronald Isley and R. Kelly that I thought that was the original version, lol. Anyway, this is a really beautiful song and I do really like this a lot. It's one of those songs I forget how much I enjoy until I re-listen to it. But this was my easy #10 as I didn't love this as much as the other songs so I'm glad it showed up here and that my Bottom 3 showed up first!
8. Nice & Slow - Usher: Oooof, this is a tough loss to see this coming so soon. :( Ooh and wow I even ranked this at #6, which isn't as high as I thought. Ugh goes to show you how stacked this list of songs is. Anywho, this is a great and classic slow jam! One of my many favorite songs from Usher. Such a great song that never gets old.
7. All My Life - K-Ci & JoJo: Ugh dangg, I had a feeling and just knew this song would be the song with the highest SD. :'( Ouch at 6 #11 rankings, ugh really? That's way too many there. :'( Love that there were 4 #1s for this. Anyway, this was my #3. It's another one of those classic gorgeous songs that I really love. It really moves and gives me chills. So good, catchy and just an all around great song from K-Ci & JoJo. I knew this would miss the Top 5 but just glad to see it not in the Bottom 4.
6. No, No, No - Destiny's Child: I'm pleased to see this making it this far. Ugh I really love this so ranking this as my #7 was tough and disappointing for me to rank it that low. :( But this is a great song. I do prefer the Part 2 version and that version of the song is such a jam! Part 1 is also really good and smooth. Great debut from an iconic girl group!
Oooh this is a reallly amazing and iconic Top 4! I got my #1, 2, 4, 5 and 8 all remaining. Love all of these songs!
5. Nobody's Supposed To Be Here - Deborah Cox: Oooh I do really love this song and omggg oh snap, this was my #5! :o Wow, yayy I got a perfect ranking hee. When looking over the list of songs, I thought this was my #8 but oops, I guess not, haha. Anyway, really love this song! It's such a great and classic song from Deborah. Love both the R&B and dance version of this song! Also my favorite song of Deborah's too.
4. The First Night - Monica: Oh wow it's pretty impressive seeing this song making it to #4 without any #1 rankings. :o And yayy for no Bottom 2 rankings! Monica with that 1-2 punch of "The Boy is Mine" and "The First Night" was really something special! But ooo yayy for another perfect ranking here, as I also ranked this at #4. This is such a great jam and another classic that I love from Monica. Such a jam! Pleased to see this making it so high.
3. Too Close - Next: Ugh noooo, I was sooo close to scoring my perfect Top 2 here. Dangg. :'( But this is my #2 and yess absolutely LOVE this classic of a jam! I heard this song so much in '98 and never ever got tired of it. It was one of those songs I always loved despite not ever really knowing what it was about or saying, lol. I'm glad this made it this high, especially with a male artist song amongst the female artists. I feared this would have missed the Top 5 but so glad that's not the case.
Oh now it's #1 vs. #8! Please pull through, #1.
2. I Get Lonely - Janet Jackson: Oh phew, yay I'm pleased this didn't pull off the win. Ughh now I do also love this song and I hate ranking this so low at #8. But again, it just shows how stacked and strong this list of songs is for me. I do think it's the power of Janet, which I totally get, making it here. I do feel like she has some other songs that standout more, while this list had my favorites from other artists but wasn't the case for Janet for me. But still, I love both versions of this and it is another one of the many classics from Janet. 8 #1s is amazing for this!
1. The Boy Is Mine - Brandy & Monica: Oooh yayyy I'm so happy and pleased to see this song win this rankdown! :spaz: I ranked this at #1, sooo I absolutely LOVE this song and think it's such an iconic collaboration between Brandy & Monica. I love what they both bring to the song. It's simply such a classic. It's another one of those songs I heard so much and never got sick of and never would. Yayy for 7 #1 rankings and also yayy for no Bottom 3 rankings here either!
Oooh wow and I got 4 perfect ranks. I didn't realize that but yay. :o Another amazing rankdown from Soulsista! Thank you for hosting this. I can't wait for the 1999 list! This should be a lot of fun!
