1998 isn't quite as good as some of the previous years IMO, but I still like pretty much all of the songs and definitely love a few of them. (There is also one that I am sure will do really well that I find a bit overrated, but still like.)

I know my 1 but here’s a list where I have no idea what could be the overall last or overall first. This could go in any direction.

Yess, I was really looking forward to 1998 as this was the year I really started following music more closely. I know all of these songs so yayy! I like them all and definitely love a good portion of them. Can't wait to relisten to these and see how I rank them amongst each other.

Kicking off our extras is this song that pays homage to the birthplace of hip hop. It topped the rap chart and peaked at #4 on the R&B chart and #9 on the Hot 100. It samples "Black Cow" by Steely Dan, and in exchange Steely Dan got a $115,000 advance payment and 100% of the publishing royalties, making members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen the only credited songwriters. The intro samples "Amores Como El Nuestro" by Jerry Rivera.
Deja Vu (Uptown Baby) - Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz
And here we have another song that samples "Black Cow", this one by a teen best known for her role as Ashley Banks on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Produced and co-written by Rodney Jerkins, it peaked at #5 R&B and #6 on the Hot 100. Features a rap by Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz.
Daydreamin' - Tatyana Ali

A shame that they all couldn't go to #1. Of the extras posted, I love both "Deja Vu" and "Daydreamin'." I wish both acts could have had more hits as big as those. :(

May be useful to share the link to the aforementioned Hex Hector mix of the Deborah Cox track (which was included in her album). It was the version that I heard more often locally back in the day and probably contributed to her 14-week stay at the top.

I can't help but think how "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" sounds so much like a contemporary gospel song.
Missy arranged the hell out of "Make It Hot". I know Keli Nicole Price was miscredited as "Kelly Price" on the single, but I couldn't find her name in the album liner notes.
