Smith - "Lemon"

Managed by Hitmaker Music Group, this began seeing signs of being promoted to Pop and Rhythmic back in June. She’s female alt-rocker Smith, whose presence online is almost non-existent.  She peaked at #32 on Rhythmic earlier this month and still climbing on Pop.

• She claims her TikTok campaign for this song has 75+ million views. Going on the app, the official sound has 922 videos. To her credit, a few of these videos have millions of views. Still, I would say the view count is around 20-25 million views max. It’s important to note this song has 130K streams on Spotify, which seems a little low to me for how many views it’s gotten on TikTok.
• She claims she’s gotten over 100 million streams worldwide. Again, to her credit, she has at least three songs over the 1M mark. That’s around 7.5M streams. When you factor in that she only has 10 unique (non remixed) singles out, I’d say she’s closer to 8-9M streams. Factoring in Apple Music, YouTube, and various international apps, I don’t think that would get her close to 100M.
• The aforementioned “Billboard Top 40 charting song at Alternative Radio” she doesn’t have. I know a lot of artists have access to radio info, so it’s possible she got Mediabase and Billboard mixed up.
• She doesn’t talk about the Jack Harlow album she helped produce by name, but rather as “the Jack Harlow album”, despite him having two releases eligible for Grammy nominations. She’s probably talking about “Come Home the Kids Miss You”, which was nominated for Best Rap Album. Anyway, that album has at least 35 producers. Extra note: she’s credited as Lux Smith on her own songs.
• “SMITH has NEVER revealed her face or her identity”. Her first song was released on April 27, 2020. Considering the real world circumstances at the time, I don’t think she’d need to reveal either.

Anyhow, top 50 on Hot AC and top 40 on Pop!
