hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=337875&title=NEW-RELEASE%253A-DRAKES-FOR-ALL-THE-DOGS-HAS-A-BIG-BITESaturday, October 7, 2023 NEW RELEASE: DRAKE'S FOR ALL THE DOGS HAS A BIG BITEDrake's For All the Dogs (OVO/Republic) is trending to an opening of 400-450k after its initial day of streams and sales, with most of that number coming from streams. After several delays, the album was finally released on Friday (10/6) at 6am, several hours after the weekly turnover at the DSPs. This later than normal release suggests there could be some upside to today's projection, which would currently be the 4th biggest debut of 2023. Republic has three of the four with Taylor Swift's Speak Now (Taylor's Version) leading the year at 716k and Morgan Wallen's One Thing at a Time (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic) at #2 with 501k. Cactus Jack/Epic's Travis Scott is #3 with UTOPIA and 477k. As for us, we're celebrating October's Very Own with copious amounts of Halloween candy. Drake (OVO/Republic) 400-450k

About the best outcome expected.
There wasn’t nearly the hype for this as prior studio albums, the features weren’t as many heavy hitters as CLB, lack of Pop appeal, and etc.
We will see how the album pans out after the initial few weeks.

Would be a bit of humiliation if he lost to Travis (and with a longer album) but we'll see.

Would be a bit of humiliation if he lost to Travis (and with a longer album) but we'll see. There’s no “humiliation” for Drake that another album that had over 30 different versions for sale barely got a higher first week than a digital-only release. 💀 Nevermind the fact it was Travis Scott’s grand return/first release in 5 years, and this is Drake’s fifth full length release in 5 years. Always a half baked thought with you when the name Drake appears.

When all is said and done, I have a feeling Drake will be overtake Jay-Z on this leaderboard. It's crazy... if not insane, to think how dominate he is an artist.
Topping it off with 400k is also impressive... though there's no denying Taylor is still the biggest name on the planet.

450k is very good. I'm sure Travis beating him would hurt his ego a bit, but he also hasn't played the physical game that sells in 2023 so of course that hurts a bit.

yea I forgot to add that Travis has very strong vinyl backing for some reason (and he had the suspicious website sales for several weeks to lengthen the stint at #1 on album chart). But Drake needs to reach 400k no questions asked to maintain his "#1 in rap" crown.

travis also has 0 multiweek top 10 hits from this decade, so i don't think anyone considers him #1 in rap.

Maybe it's just me, but 400k+ is really good! Most can't even muster a third of that figure these days.

Maybe it's just me, but 400k+ is really good! Most can't even muster a third of that figure these days. Yep. Look at 'Scarlett' - it only managed 1/6 of that with a legit hit single. Drake, Taylor and Morgan are still far above their respective genre peers. Imagine if Drake sold vinyls ready for release week or preceded a project with a legit smash.

Is it just me or did HDD just change their font for the top 20 projections?

For FATD, slightly better numbers than Her Loss. Also, it would mean more than 500 million weekly on-demand streams for it.

Seems like they didn't expect Drake to be that frontloaded? 450k to 420k to 410k final.
Still a fine number. Not impossible for Bad Bunny to beat it though.

Crazy that Sufjan isn't top 50... his last two "normal" solo releases had top 10 debuts.

"headed for a #1 debut on Friday's HITS Top 50 with projected first week activity of 200-225k. The rap album is tracking to log first-week streams in the 260-290m range, slightly below the 328m of 2022's Un Verano Sin Ti." I never understood why anyone was predicting him to increase 50% in popularity from last year.

I never understood why anyone was predicting him to increase 50% in popularity from last year. Worldwide he's basically second to Taylor Swift right now so I expected some growth. But to be fair the last couple singles did point out to a slight decrease in interest (and the album doesn't seem to be connecting like UVST did).
