Most KPOP albums from more well known KPOP acts have been underperforming in the US in last couple of months. Seventeen did this past week, and TXT the week before are examples.

Maybe expectations and hype for Kpop have been way overblown now that BTS is on hiatus. The releases from the genre to to get their first week numbers most from pure sales, which makes them quite frontloaded. As a result, there are 0 Kpop albums in the top 50 YTD HITS albums building chart.
Not to mention that Cupid was the only song from the genre that will make 2023 Year-End Hot 100 that had a nice steady, long chart run (25 weeks) without relying too much on song sales. Seven will also make it, but its chart run was particularly front-loaded because it relied early on on sales and it appears to have been quite short (13 weeks).

Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (Republic) will remain at #1 for a second week, while BIGHIT/Geffen’s Jung Kook is looking to debut in the runner-up slot with GOLDEN and Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous Equal Strain on All Parts (Mailboat/Sun) is on track to post a Top 10 bow.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a date with a pumpkin-spice vape.

Anyone else think Jason Aldean's numbers are pretty weak? They are. Lets please stream Cody Johnson's album so he has a bigger debut than Jason!

30k debut is good if TTIAST did not happen. It is also a top 10 contender number if the cutoff isn't so hugh nowadays. After occupying the news space though, you would expect it to be much higher, especially the pure sales part. Luckily (?) when the controversy happens, the album is not yet up for pre-order.

Not surprised Jason Aldean is opening low. TTIAST was just a 2 week fluke, most people purchasing it solely for the political statement. It did not represent a renewed surge in interest and popularity for Jason Aldean lol.

In addition to his The Tonight Show appearance earlier this week, Jung Kook appeared on the Today show today. So he's definitely trying to get #1 in the Billboard 200 this week.

What caused the big jump in the Jung Kook projection? Underestimated his fans? They seem to be pushing for the #1. They've still got the rest of today so wouldn't be surprised if they managed to pull it off and his projection ends up even higher than the already adjusted 200k!

Jung Kook also released 4 new physical versions whose difference is the voice memo included as an additional track.

We all know Taylor is Taylor with chatys... but you just got off the 1.6M sales week, let someone else take it. You have nothing to prove. Cheering for JK to be #1, although not sure he'll get there.

Jung Kook just did a surprise show at Times Square to promote the album. It's going to be a very close call, I assume.

Republic's Taylor Swift repeats at #1 on the HITS Top 50 with 1989 (Taylor's Version). The album, which opened with the biggest week of the year and of Swift's career, moves 240k in its second week.
BTS' Jung Kook earns the week's top bow with his debut album, Golden (BIGHIT/Geffen). The set enters north of 200k, which makes Golden the biggest opening ever by a K-pop soloist.
Other top entries go to the late Jimmy Buffett's Equal Strain of all Parts (Mailboat/Sun Records) at #6, Jason Aldean's Highway Desperado (BBR/BMG) at #18 and Cody Johnson's Leather (Cojo/Warner Nashville) at #19.
Drake, Morgan Wallen and Bad Bunny round out the Top 5.
Streeting this week are new titles from Mercury Nashville's Chris Stapleton, Columbia's The Kid LAROI, Maybach/gamma's Meek Mill & Rick Ross, Motown's Brandy, SM/Warner's aespa, Arista's Lola Brooke and reissues from The Beatles.
