with Brenda Lee hitting #1 this past week there have been three Christmas #1 songs since the Hot 100 began in 1958 . The Chipmunks had 4 weeks in 1958/59 , Mariah 12 weeks so far and Brenda Lee with one and potentially two weeks . before the Hot 100 started in 1940 there were 5 Christmas songs that reached #1 on the best selling charts . one of them was not considered a Christmas song at the time but is now .
"White Christmas" -Bing Crosby October 31 1942 11 weeks #1 "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"-Vaughn Monroe January 26 1946 5 weeks #1 ( not considered a Christmas song but just winter related at the time) "All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth)"- Spike Jones January 8th 1949 1 week #1 "Rudolph, The Red-nosed Reindeer" - Gene Autry January 7th 1950 1 week #1 "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" - Jimmy Boyd December 27th 1952 2 weeks #1
