It's also fitting for it to be Janet vs. Mariah. I'm happy about that as they were my two favorite artists of the '90s!

5. I Get Lonely - Janet Jackson: When I saw that I dropped this song from #11 to #15, I had a feeling it would be this song. I do love this song but thank goodness this is the first to drop out as this is my lowest remaining song by quite a margin, at #28. I do love and think this is a great song/video from Janet. But I don't agree with this being in the Top 5 amongst all of these songs but oh well. Still a great spot for this and I'll be happy with whichever song wins now. 4. Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson: Oooh yayy I finally get a perfect rank! I can't remember the last time this has happened but yayy finally! This is such an iconic and classic song. One of Janet's best and one of, if not my personal, favorite from here that I really love to give a #4 ranking. I was hoping for this to be Janet's last standing song but I'll take this being her 2nd highest ranked song. I don't get this being so polarizing with it having the 3rd highest SD though. 3. Creep - TLC: Oooh I love "Creep" and this song is such a jam and classic! Love this song and enough so to give it a #13 ranking. Ugh I'm sad and disappointed that I couldn't rank it higher within my Top 10 but it clearly didn't need that help from me. This is one of my favorites from TLC though I do prefer a few others. But of the Top 3, this was the song I was hoping to see would miss out making the Top 2. 2. That's The Way Love Goes - Janet Jackson: Oooh yess, I do really love this song and think this is such a hot, smooth jam from Janet. This is so good and smooth. I love this enough to give it a #10 ranking. It was at one time my favorite from Janet, though it's dropped a bit overtime - but it's still great. Of the Top 2, also glad that this song came in 2nd. 1. Fantasy - Mariah Carey: Yayyy "Fantasy" dominants yet again! This song is amazing, iconic, memorable and amongst one of my all-time favorite songs. It's the song that helped me become a true Mariah fan! Yeah I love this a ton and so much so to give it my #1 ranking. And yayy another perfect ranking. Ooh I didn't expect 312999 to rank this at #1 but given his comment on thinking he & #LisaRinna ranked this at #1, it all makes sense. Ahh yeah I just KNEW that this was the song that had the #50 tanking. Baddd Lucy88 for tanking this but I am glad it didn't work, lol.  But I love how this still dominated even with that #50 rank and with only two #1 ranks. But wow all of those Top 3 and then those Top 10 ranks are surely impressive! Though as much as I love how this song won another rankdown, it's probably time to retire this song from future rankdowns since nothing else can compete with it. This was such a great way to close out the 90s R&B Rankdown! I'm sad I missed out on '90 and '91 (though I wasn't huge on '91 so I don't think I missed out too much there), but glad I was able to participate in all of the 90s R&B rankdowns. And as always, such a wonderful and amazing job hosting this rankdown, Soulsista! :clap: Can't wait for the next R&B rankdowns - and hoping we can go into the 2000s! |

Well since I love or really like most of the songs
I am ok with whatever outcome.
But Mariah has like 50 songs at least that are better than Fantasy
And Janet maybe 40 better than That's the way love goes or Rhythm nation

I had some hope that Rhythm Nation 1814's mega classic status would be strong enough for the title track to win, but lol here we are. Fantasy is still super fun though, so I can't be actual mad. Nah, the real disappointing thing is how hip-hop was treated here >:c Still, I had a blast listening to this, and I rediscovered some songs I haven't listened to in a while that I now super appreciate. I do really like that song best from those 5 Janet ones
But now I would rank it under The boy is mine and You're makin me high.
So rather in top 5 than #2
