It would need a pretty big gain. By comparing last week's Hot 100 with last week's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart we can see that "Popular" would have been below "One of the Girls" at 67 and above "Sneaky" at 71. Then again, it did hit #10 in the UK this week, giving Madonna her first Top Ten hit there in almost 15 years and her 61st overall (64th if you count re-issues - "Holiday" made the top ten there three separate times!).

Popular did experience a significant increase in streaming, but its chances of returning to the Hot 100 diminished as the week came to a close. I expect it to achieve between 67 and 75 chart points, which last week would have placed it between 46 and 53 on the Hot 100. If that area of the chart is more competitive this week, Popular will have to be satisfied with its 19-week run.

I don't get the hate for yes, and? either. Like I understand people aren't going to like every song, but normally people are just like "This song is a bit meh" and move on and hope the next song is better, but with this song the people who don't like it have the vitriol dialed up to 10. I genuinely can't understand why the song is THAT offensive to some people. And I don't think I've seen one actual explanation for why, it's always really vague things like "The song just isn't very good", but that applies to half the songs in the chart which people are happy to tolerate and mostly ignore.

But what I will say is that Ariana Grande's fans didn't do any favors. Pre-release, they hyped up her comeback way too much, like as if she's guaranteed to have one of the biggest hits of the year (I was one of the few saying that I don't think she's guaranteed a #1 debut). So probably that annoyed a lot of people. That's the only possibility I can think of. Either that or people find the lyrical content offensive given her personal life. I can't find any other possible explanation for so much vitriol towards a song just for being "not very good". There have been Ariana Grande songs I didn't like before, and I just, didn't really care tbh. So I think there's something more going on that people aren't being open about. It can't be "I just don't like the song" driving people to so much hate. There are Ariana Grande songs I haven't liked before, and I just didn't really care. So something more is definitely going on. I hope one of the people who don't like the song can elaborate a bit rather than just continue with the vague "The song isn't very good" comments, because I'm genuinely curious what's going on.

That's insane! Why on Earth have Billboard put it on recurrent when it's only had 19 weeks? I thought every song was guaranteed to be able to chart in the lower half now if they have less than 20 weeks?

people just don't like it that much, it's very simple. I like almost every Ariana single, but this one just didn't click...really don't remember the last time I streamed it, it's like a definition of 'I won't play it, but if it comes up I won't skip it/change the station'. Also, like most people mentioned, house music isn't the most loved genre in the US, so I guess that plays a big role too - in the UK for example, the song is much more successful like I predicted when I heard it, still in the top 5 in its 3rd week, and currently #6 on Spotify and #5 on AM.

Well this week was a lot more interesting than expected. We got some movement in our Top 10, including a new number one. 21 Savage's redrum unseats Lovin On Me despite the former being down 1.28%. It's more a testament to Lovin On Me finally peaking in streams as it was down 9.97%. Don't expect redrum to stay on top for long however as debuting at #3 thanks to positive reception, virality, and a little embarassing flop that we'll get to later, Megan Thee Stallion's HISS debuts at #3. With the strong streaming numbers projecting the song to debut in the Top 2, maybe even debuting at #1, this is a huge win for Megan as it's her first big solo hit since WAP and Savage were collaborations. We also saw two songs reach new peaks in the Top 10; Never Lose Me increased ny 12.5% while Beautiful Things was up 12.15%. Whether you like the songs or not, these have long term staying power.

Besides Megan however, we actually got a few interesting debuts this week. After going viral on TikTok, Ice Spice's new song debuted with 5.7M and Morgan Wallen's re-released version of Spin You Around (perhaps Morgan's Version) got 4.96M in its first week. All of those songs + Good Neighbour's Home which is also going semi-viral on TikTok all did better than Justin Timberlake's Selfish which at least has the saving grace of having a very good radio deal. The same cannot be said for Nicki LOSER who's PATHETIC diss track barely debuted in the Top 100.

We also got debuts for Praise Jah in the Moonlight which has been growing Worldwide as well, it could be a good bubbling hit, and Reneé Rapp's song with Megan for Mean Girls - Not My Fault finally debuts on the weekly charts. We got yet another Peso Pluma collab with La Intención as he continues to have clout but the debut that's the weirdest as at #150 as a song from the second season of Hazbin Hotel made the charts. Hazbin has had songs go viral before so let's see if this has longevity.

Igual Que Un Ángel also falls out of the Top 10 although since it only fell by 7.2% it could easily back into the Top 10.
