This was nearly impossible but I tried to narrow it down to her songs I couldn’t live without:
All Too Well (10 Minute Version) Blank Space Better Man cardigan exile I Did Something Bad invisible string Maroon ‘tis the damn season tolerate it Vigilante Shit Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve You Need to Calm Down

This week, "Cruel Summer" finally hit #1 in Australia in its 38th week. Definitely the current tour in Australia help making this song finally hitting the top spot. Also it makes senses it hits number 1 in the summer season in Australia. Hoping the same happens in the UK!

^^ Everything that we said still applies, I’m not about to say it again. The aesthetic of this one is really a serve though, and I just KNOW that bonus song is going to skin me alive, especially if it goes in any of the same direction as The Alcott… *don’t do it don’t do it don’t do it DO NOT DO IT*https://www.instagram.com/p/C3sF3Z-O1Q4

Yeah, that's probably my favorite artwork so far. But she just had to be gross and release another variant with an exclusive bonus track. It's bordering on parody at this point.

Everyone please prepare yourselves. There’s at least one more variant coming. She doesn’t do less than four.

This is not new. 😂 It was annoying then, it’s annoying now, it has nothing to do with Taylor Swift personally exploiting her fans to wring out money because she’s greedy, this is what labels and the music industry does now. It indeed sucks. It’s possible that this is something that she doesn’t have total control over, too — there could be contractual obligations or decisions that require this to not be solely her choice — she is on a label, after all, she’s not Independent. I think that’s why rushing to say something about her character didn’t feel like the best of faiths. I hope the people who are upset about the additional bonus tracks will just listen to the leak of them until they get on Spotify. That’s the best way to stick it to industry practices you don’t like.

Same - unless he’s referring to versions of albums released in different geographic regions. The Japanese version of an album always had bonus tracks. As a collector, it was fun hunting down different versions of my favourite albums years later while visiting record shops in other cities or countries. I *guess* this could be a modern day version of that?

Yeah...that must be it, but I don't know if I would REALLY count international versions in the same way, as I feel like, often times, the tracklistings were different based on the musical preferences of those countries (see: Up! (Blue Version))

I don’t think it’s a *literal* 1-1 comparison with, like, you’d go to Tower Records and see the same album with different covers and different bonus tracks. But huge artists have always released special edition versions of albums along the way, or there’s been international versions as you said. Plus there was different kinds of shit like HitClips or McDonalds giving away singles (IF I RECALL CORRECTLY I could be wrong but I thought they did this). It’s not like from every run of the mill pop star, but for someone the equivalent of Taylor’s stature, sure.
Whenever there is a system in place, the most popular acts and the labels have always sought to maximize it. That’s more of the thrust of the point.
With labels actually being able to make money on the sale of actual music in the last few years after that revenue stream basically was non-existent for a decade, it’s no surprise they’re doing stuff. But again, I’m not trying to rehash the argument, the difference is that this time you really don’t have to pay if you don’t want to, it’ll just be on Spotify in a few months or you can find it illegally, which you couldn’t do in the 90s.

You won't catch me purchasing all of these. Lemme stream whatever is available on Spotify and pirate whatever isn't until it inevitably is.

Woke up this morning and the very first thing after The Albatross Edition that I saw was Katy and Taylor together, and the caption melted my heart. I’m so happy they moved past the pettiness of 2015-17 and reconciled and remain friends ever since. It’s beautiful to see, and such a great example for younger generations. Everyone please prepare yourselves. There’s at least one more variant coming. She doesn’t do less than four. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) says hello with three I saw a Twitter fan theory that she’ll be doing five variants in total, to represent the five stages of grief, as this is what the album is almost certainly about—her grief over the demise of her relationship with Joe.

When Olivia did the different bonus track on different variants thing, the first thing I thought was "I'm surprised Taylor hasn't done this yet," so... not surprised she followed suit. Annoying, sure, but I'm sure she'll release a complete edition eventually, at least on streaming.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we still not have a complete Midnights edition anywhere?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we still not have a complete Midnights edition anywhere? You are correct. Closest one can get is purchase the 'Til Dawn edition + You're Losing Me as a standalone track.

So labels needed to give consumers a reason to not import by adding on Japan-exclusive tracks.
