The video seems very “Poor Things”-inspired. well “Poor” has the same vowel sound as “fort” and “Things” has a lot of the same letters as “night” Come to think of it, “Yorgos Lanthimos” is an anagram for “Taylor Swift” |

It shoulda been “Carly Rae should be a bigger artist…”, if only she’d use her powers for good lol. Haven't not seen the rest of the lyrics, I was under the impression there was a hint of sarcasm in there tbh. I was wondering that too, but I think Taylor would avoid name dropping an artist for the purposes of shade like that unless there was major beef. She didn’t even name drop or really hint at Katy in Bad Blood. Charlie has also collabed with both Selena and Sabrina Carpenter, who are friends with Taylor, so maybe they’re actually friends. |

Between being the follow up album to one of mainstream music’s most successful album eras ever, the reception I’m seeing about Fortnight not really sounding like a hit, the darker visuals for the video, and some of the early discourse on the album lyrics… I’m starting to get major Reputation vibes from this whole era. I can only hope I like the album even a fraction as much as that…

After the first few tracks, they’re really really blending together for me initially. I don’t remember ever having this issue with her albums on first listen before? Down Bad stands out the most so far (and that rather jarring “I want to kill her” bit on Fortnight, that was a whole choice).

To me it's a 1989 x Midnights mashup. She's not doing anything new here necessarily but there are no bad songs that I've heard so far
