yes and is a song for us gay male Ariana fans, simple as that. And not in the way Vogue or Born This Way were gay but also still universal, yes and is just straight up gay lol. Like it needs to be blasting at a gay club or forget it. Nice. 90% of her fans clearly didn't agree lol I mean I kinda beg to differ… the song just didn’t stick even in her core fandom the way nearly all of her other singles have. I personally know so many straight female Ariana fans who didn’t care for it, and that’s a first. And obviously me saying it’s for gay fans doesn’t mean you HAVE to be gay to like it or EVERY gay man does (lol, come on now people). It just means if you find the biggest yes and fans out there, it’s highly likely to be disproportionately LGBTQ community vs your typical mainstream song (or Ari song for that matter). |

Or maybe not every single gay man has the same interests or taste in music… Yes And? was clearly catered to the stereotypical gay men. I don't watch drag race, I dont vogue, I don't dance, nor do I sashay, or use standard gay lingo. Lol I also don't relate to the socalled iconic 3rd verse, I'm not out there hooking up with every guy.. I've never had a 1 night stand or slept with anyone unless we were officially in a relationship.. So I don't have people commenting on whose D I ride.. which is why I stick out like a sore thumb at gay bars and clubs for all of the reasons I posted. I also don't like Madonna, which is where Yes And? was clearly ripped from.. Lol so in reality the song was a total mess and trash to me. |

The song was 100% catered to one audience and one audience only. That's why it did so poorly. That being said.. this is why We Cant Be Friends is doing the complete opposite and is doing well.
