Oh good! I really like this.
This feels very Carly Rae Jepsen 'Emotion' era, which I am totally here for.

"you got me misunderstood / but at least I look this good"
These lyrics are kinda tragic lol. It does sound very CRJ--cute enough and entirely toothless.
She's 0/2 for me in the sense that I wouldn't seek either out, but they're pleasant enough. Lukewarm.
Also...why is she allergic to using the full power of her voice? It's not called for in every song of course but this four-note range head voice thing she's been rocking lately is such an odd, boring choice.

I see a lot of people comparing this to Robyn and Carly online. If there's one thing those ladies know how to capture in a pop song, it's "the feeling." Their songs always hit the necessary emotional peak.
This song never peaks, just keeps on coasting by. Her vocal is deadening.

Like yes and clearly only being chosen because to try be a hit off controversy, this is a misstep single to me. The chorus is so flat, and she sounds like she is sleepwalking. It’s a lazy, sleepy Never Really Over

This is a “Love Me Harder” type bop!! Another #1, then release “Bye” for the third one!

This reminds me of Dancing On My Own by Robyn, All The Lovers by Kylie, and Somebody by Dagny. A very pleasant pop track, I hope it does well for her.

The comparisons are spot on but this is a lovely little single. I’d love club remixes of this asap.

I really liked the video. She looked great, especially in the bridge
The song it reminds me of most is Your Type. by Carly Rae Jepsen

I wouldn't turn the station if this came on, but it's so lethargic and never goes anywhere or does anything interesting. And this is the album highlight? mm.

This is absolutely the right choice for the second single. It gives me "Into You" vibes which has always been a favorite of mine.

Can’t believe people compared this to Never Really Over and Your Type—those are two of my favorite songs ever. No wonder I like this

This is probably one of my favorite Ariana songs and the music video is amazing.

This was really beautiful. I definitely get the Robyn and Carly similarities as the production is dripping in sentimentality.
I didn't mind her vocals here, but I think that may be because I listened to this first while watching the music video which soars with emotions. That may have given all that was needed in spite of her somewhat emotionless vocal delivery.
The comparison to Katy Perry is also apt though, as I think Katy tends to have an emotionless and cold delivery in general to sell commoditized hook filled candy-coated pop music. Ariana is sort of doing that here, so I get the NRO comparison too.

Beautiful video, very moving.
It took Ariana Grande doing her take on Robyn to do it, but now even I am on the Evan Peters hype train. Gonna start praying to get someone like him after every Friday prayer!

I haven't watched the video yet but I do really like the song. Definitely hear a bit of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" and Carly's "Your Type" in the production as others seem to have mentioned, and I guess I'm one of the few but I like the more somber delivery she went with vocally.
I don't necessarily think this is the best choice for the second single though. I like it more than "yes, and?" personally but I'm not sure this is what people want from her.

This was instant and a standout for me - I LOVE a synthy dance pop song with a melancholy vocal.

I really like this. Definitely gives me Robyn vibes. Actually reminds me of "Trustfall" by P!nk a little bit in the production.
Not sure how this will do. Hopefully a decent sized hit with longevity at least!

I love the idea of Ariana doing a Robyn cosplay… but she didn’t deliver here. The vocal delivery is lifeless and lacks Robyn’s wrenching emotion and storytelling.
