CARNIVAL stays on top for a 6th week in a row, which was much closer than last week. It did dropped a tad by 10.09% but still had a big gap and Ariana's second single - we can't be friends - just couldn't maintain momentum as it decreased by 11.65%. This may be where its reign ends as Like That is going viral.
Ariana's album had a mediocre second week with all of her singles except we can't be friends falling hard. Dropping out of the Top 10: bye fell 44.39%, yes and? by 42.21%, eterrnal sunshine by 42.52%, and the boy is mine by 30.09%. The abum did have the best hold out of any album bomb so far this year with only a 40.9% drop although expect it to drop harder next week, especially with the new Future and Metro Boomin collab project.
We didn't get a ton of debuts this week outside of a remix for Never Lose Me that should give it a solid boost up the charts. Ironically, this saw the original Never Lose Me drop by 39.85%. Speaking of remixes, the Drake remix of act ii: fell by 32.13% whilst the original dropped 17.5%. We also saw new singles from Gunna, Ivan Cornejo, and Cardi B + Kacey Musgraves' Deeper Well re-enter off the back of her new album. And we saw solid gains from debuts last week in Gata Only, Austin, and Yeah Glo! which are building momentum
Notable Gains: Bandit - 22.32% Gata Only - 17.71% Austin - 16.41% Mmhmm - 13.7% Yeah Glo! - 11.89% Linger - 11.07% Buy Dirt - 10.19%
Albums Bombs of 2024 - Week 2 Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine: 66,128,826 (-41%) Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign - VULTURES 1: 43,210,450 (-51%) 21 Savage - american dream: 38,810,219 (-51%)

I remember everything still top ten after failing to crack top 20 on pop or country radio. I wonder the last time such a big hit was so radio unsupported

The singer-songwriter reigns with his first entry on the chart. Plus, Cardi B debuts in the top 10.
Teddy Swimsβ βLose Controlβ lifts to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The singer-songwriter reigns with his first career entry on the ranking.
Plus, making history, the song completes its ascent to the top of the Hot 100 in its 32nd week β wrapping the longest run to No. 1, by weeks on the chart, for a title by a solo male in the listβs 65-year archives.
Additionally in the Hot 100βs top 10, Cardi Bβs βEnough (Miami)β debuts at No. 9, marking her 12th top 10. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated March 30, 2024) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, March 26. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious or unverifiable is removed, using established criteria, before final chart calculations are made and published.
βLose Control,β on SWIMS Int./Warner Records, becomes the 1,167th No. 1 in the Hot 100βs history.
Hereβs a look at its coronation, as well as the rest of the latest Hot 100βs top 10.
Airplay, streams & sales
βLose Controlβ drew 59.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 9%) and 23.2 million streams (down 2%) and sold 8,000 (down 34%) in the week ending March 21, according to Luminate.
The single rises 5-3 on the Radio Songs chart; holds at No. 4, after reaching No. 3, on Streaming Songs; and falls to No. 6 after three nonconsecutive weeks atop Digital Song Sales.
The song spends a second week at No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart. It rose to No. 2 on Adult Alternative Airplay in January and ascends to the top five (6-4) on Pop Airplay.
Two new versions of βLose Controlβ arrived during the tracking week: a TiΓ«sto remix (March 19) and a radio edit (March 21). They joined the previously available original version; a cappella, instrumental, piano and strings versions; slowed down and sped up mixes; a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Session recording; a live version recorded at Nashvilleβs Ryman Auditorium, with Freak Freely; and a goddard. remix. "Pain is paying the bills"
Teddy Swims, real name Jaten Dimsdale, from Conyers, Ga., first appeared on Billboardβs charts in 2021, after he broke through with a viral cover of Michael Jacksonβs βRock With Youβ in mid-2019. (He signed to Warner Records on Christmas Eve 2019.) As a co-writer, he topped the Country Airplay chart via Thomas Rhettβs βAngels Donβt Always Have Wingsβ for a week in September 2023.
βIβm super grateful that person [broke my heart],β Teddy Swims recently told Billboard of the origin of βLose Control.β βI think itβs so great to know that that pain is necessary because β¦ pain is paying the bills still. Iβm trying to stop putting myself in positions to get hurt, because youβll always have to do that, but they say the best revenge is success.β
The song is from Teddy Swimsβ debut full-length, Iβve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part I). The set hit a No. 25 high on the March 16-dated Billboard 200 chart.
Of the LPβs title, he mused that therapy might βchange the fabric of my being. Itβs just, like, my little tics and my little anxiety that I have, my own ways β which is not a right way to go about it. But β¦ Iβm comfortable in my existence.β 32 weeks to No. 1
βLose Controlβ completes the longest climb to No. 1, by weeks on the chart, for a title by a solo male ever on the Hot 100. Overall, it finishes the fifth-steadiest rise to the summit.
Most chart weeks to No. 1 on the Hot 100:
59, βHeat Waves,β Glass Animals, reached No. 1 on the chart dated March 12, 2022 54, βRockinβ Around the Christmas Tree,β Brenda Lee, Dec. 9, 2023 35, βAll I Want for Christmas Is You,β Mariah Carey, Dec. 21, 2019 33, βMacarena (Bayside Boys Mix),β Los Del Rio, Aug. 3, 1996 32, βLose Control,β Teddy Swims, March 30, 2024 31, βDie for You,β The Weeknd & Ariana Grande, March 11, 2023 31, βAmazed,β Lonestar, March 4, 2000 30, βAll of Me,β John Legend, May 17, 2014
No. 1 as a writer
Teddy Swims scores his first Hot 100 No. 1 as a writer, as well as a recording artist. He co-penned βLose Controlβ with Julian Bunetta, Infamous and Mikky Ekko β all of whom also lead the list for the first time β and Josh Coleman, who previously topped the Hot 100 as a writer of Katy Perryβs βE.T.,β featuring Ye (then known as Kanye West), for five weeks in 2011, and Ke$haβs βWe R Who We R,β for a week in 2010.
βWhen it was finished, I was showing everybody before the song came out,β Teddy Swims told Billboard of βLose Controlβ last year. βI just felt that energy, like, βThis is lighting in a bottle.β I knew this was going to change my life.β Warner at Nos. 1&2
As βLose Controlβ leads the Hot 100, Benson Booneβs βBeautiful Thingsβ rises from No. 3 to a new No. 2 high.
With both songs on Warner Records, the label lands the Hot 100βs top two spots simultaneously for the first time since the chart dated April 6, 2013, when Macklemore & Ryan Lewisβ βThrift Shop,β featuring Wanz (on Macklemore/ADA/Warner [then Warner Bros.]), tallied its fifth of six weeks at No. 1 and Baauerβs βHarlem Shakeβ (on Jeffreeβs Mad Decent/Warner) placed at No. 2 following five weeks in charge. (Warner logged six weeks at Nos. 1 and 2 concurrently thanks to those songs, with βHarlem Shakeβ on top the prior five frames.) βLoseβ wins
βLose Controlβ is the fourth song with the word βloseβ in its title to emerge victorious on the Hot 100. The winners circle:
βLose Control,β Teddy Swims, one week at No. 1 to date, March 30, 2024 βLose You To Love Me,β Selena Gomez, one week, Nov. 9, 2019 βLose Yourself,β Eminem, 12 weeks, beginning Nov. 9, 2002 βDonβt Wanna Lose You,β Gloria Estefan, one week, Sept. 16, 1989
Plus, three songs with βlostβ in their titles have triumphed on the Hot 100: βLost in Your Eyes,β by Debbie Gibson (1989), βLost in Emotion,β by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam (1987) and βYouβve Lost That Lovinβ Feelinβ,β by The Righteous Brothers (1965).
(In perhaps an upset, no songs with βwinβ or βwonβ have taken the Hot 100βs top prize.)
Cardi Bβs 12th top 10
Also notable in the Hot 100βs top 10, Cardi Bβs βEnough (Miami)β debuts at No. 9. Released March 15, the song starts with 14.5 million streams, 8.8 million in radio audience and 37,000 sold (as it opens as her seventh Digital Song Sales leader).
Cardi B notches her 12th Hot 100 top 10, and first on her own since βUp,β which became her fifth No. 1 in March 2021.
(305 in top 10: Miami appears in the title of a Hot 100 top 10 for a second time β Jan Hammerβs βMiami Vice Themeβ sped to No. 1 for a week in 1985.)
Grande leads rest of the top 10
Elsewhere in the Hot 100βs top 10, Ariana Grandeβs βWe Canβt Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)β drops to No. 3 a week after it soared in as her ninth No. 1. Still, it tops Streaming Songs for a second week (26.3 million, down 19%) and claims the Hot 100βs top Airplay Gainer award (12.4 million, up 168%).
Jack Harlowβs βLovin on Meβ rebounds 5-4 on the Hot 100, following six nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning last December, as it notches a 10th week atop the Radio Songs chart (73.9 million, down 2%). It adds a 15th week each atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same multimetric methodology as the Hot 100. βCarnival,β by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign and featuring Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, falls 4-5 on the Hot 100 after a week at No. 1 two weeks earlier. BeyoncΓ©βs βTexas Hold βEmβ keeps at No. 6 after two weeks atop the Hot 100 earlier this month. It rules the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a sixth week. Zach Bryanβs βI Remember Everything,β featuring Kacey Musgraves, advances 9-7 on the Hot 100, after it led for a week upon its debut last September. It tops the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts for a 30th week each. Rounding out the Hot 100βs top 10, Tate McRaeβs βGreedyβ repeats at No. 8, after reaching No. 3, and Taylor Swiftβs βCruel Summerβ rebounds 13-10, following four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning last October. Again, for all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on Billboardβs social accounts, and all charts (dated March 30), including the Hot 100 in its entirety, will refresh on Billboard.com tomorrow (March 26).

I know it's typical for songs to stay long in the top 10 but I'm still amazed by the longevity of I remember everything, greedy, and cruel summer. They've been sitting near the bottom for SO long.

Interesting that there are 7 current and former number one hits in the top ten. Probably been awhile since we've seen that many together at once.

Interesting no one's mentioning Lovin' On Me, which has actually spent more time in the top 10 than Greedy lol (19 vs. 15 weeks). Nowadays, it almost seems like anything less than 20 weeks in the top 10 is "brief."

So that's 32 weeks to #1 for Lose Control. Does anyone know what the record is for all artists (Billboard's article says his record is "longest run to No. 1, by weeks on the chart, for a title by a solo male")?

^Further down the article is the list of longest chart runs to #1 in the Hot 100. The answer to your question is Heat Waves by Glass Animals at 59 weeks.

What happened to Ariana? Only 1 week at #1. it's still #1 on streaming, but the difference isn't big like last week, and both Lose Control and Beautiful Things have much more airplay. I don't get the hype for Beautiful Things, the song is annoying, Lose Control is a good song though.

I'm still shocked Jack Harlow is having such a mega hit. I am also shocked and appalled that radio did I Remember so dirty. I am so pleasantly surprised to see Kacey mentioned in the Hot 100 Top 10 week after week. I really wish Tate got a #1 but LOVE seeing her so stable! And congrats to Cardi for another Top 10!
