I’m an Ariana stan first and foremost but I loved deeper well and NEED Kacey to finally have a #1 album😭. Also, where is Justin in all of this? I fully thought he would be #1 by a large margin.

I thought JT would at least be in the 70-80k range. Yikes.

Did JT have a physical/vinyl release? If so, yikes Yes, indeed. But he’s weak on streaming. The bulk of his sales will be from the vinyl/CD release. I think he’ll probably still debut top five, which is fine with a sold out tour ahead of him.

So happy for Kacey! Wasn’t expecting this at all
I don’t think she’s getting the top spot but it would be amazing if she did. Had she released the album a couple of weeks a go, this would have been an easy #01…

What a reversal a decade later
She's the only woman with three top 3s 2010+ with no number one

Kacey continuing the streak of peaking at #1 in country album charts with non-Christmas albums is good enough. Hope she gets a #1 overall album finally.

Just looked at the streaming numbers for Justin and .... yikes. Not surprised it's nowhere to be found in that write-up.

I can't find his numbers anywhere I believe the album debuted with less than 6 million streams for the entire album, and it's not found on any of the US, Global, or UK Charts. Still surprised that there's no projection for him at all though. He opened with 290k last album cycle.

I can't find his numbers anywhere I found them on ATRL; it looks like it did 5.9M first day and 4.8M second day, but those are the *global* totals (and honestly even worse since Selfish's 1M is a part of those each day too alone) - so the US numbers are going to be even uglier - pretty low especially when you realize the album has 18 songs too

It should be remembered that he performed on the Sunday of release week for his previous album and he hasn't been releasing much new music until recently. I think he took too long a hiatus between both projects.

And I didn't even think his last album opened that high. I expected at least 100k even up to last week. Guess I should stop predicting.. I'm honestly the worst at predicting album sales. Lol

I'm shocked also lol. Maybe the Backlash against him was bigger than just internet forums? LOL
But maybe it will also have legs? Or some surprise hits? A lot of people I talked to enjoyed the NSYNC song and some of the songs from the era so far. Who knows. Maybe some people were also still initially hesitant after the last album which was so different and this is more of a return to sound so it could grow ?

JT’s numbers just come down to: constant long breaks, weak comeback singles, and lack of good promotion leading to the album release.
When he always disappears for half a decade it’s easier for people to just no longer have him on their radar. He should’ve done better promotion and performed at the Grammys or something to have the public eye be more aware of his return.
The material also isn’t really anything that good or anywhere near his prime material.

I know he normally does stuff with Fallon, but I don't believe he did anything with him on his show. those appearances/skits normally go viral. But yeah, maybe this will have some surprise hits later on? and as others stated, he at least is having a big tour coming so it's fine ? At this point, I wonder if he will give in to the pressure and do NSYNC reunion. It would be fun if they dropped an EP and did a small tour just for fun. I don't really see what he has to lose at this point, especially if at the end of this album it is a bomb. Might as well go for the nostalgia factor that people clearly want

The material also isn’t really anything that good or anywhere near his prime material. This is what I think too. It has nothing to do with any type of backlash from a few people. It's the fact that he drops an album and disappears for 6 years at a time, and on top of that his last album wasn't a hit and he still disappeared like he normally does. It all comes down to long absences and his fans forgetting about him, moving on, and growing up.

That is also why it could play in his favor if he has a song they can use to "re-launch" or build interest in the album later on. A lot of album bombs suffer from exposure initially and everyone knows the songs right up front. In his case, there is room for songs to grow with a promo line up. they should just really push the NSYNC song like crazy

It all comes down to long absences and his fans forgetting about him, moving on, and growing up. I disagree. I don't think the poor numbers have anything to do with lack of promotion or album quality (if you listen to it, it's actually pretty strong material, or at least I think so) and very similar to his earlier styles, circa FutureSex/Lovesounds and the 2020 Experience. It has something to do with the long breaks and a large amount of time going by (over 20 years now since he began his solo career), but the breaks between his first and second eras (4 years between Justified and FutureSex) and second and third eras (7 years between FutureSex and 2020) actually helped him, as his opening numbers went way up, from 440k for Justified to 680k for FutureSex to 970k for 2020 Pt. 1. Man of the Woods was released five years after 2020, his first album to experience a significant drop, but at 290k still not a flop number (still probably wouldn't have been without the Super Bowl performance) and far more than Everything I Thought It Was will open with. I think this time, the extremely poor numbers have almost everything to do with the Britney backlash that much of the public probably shares, as well as the increasing negative image of his celebrity. I also think his recent comment during that performance of "I will apologize to f**king no one!" was the final nail in the coffin. What a stupid ass move, he knows the public is against him, so that practically guaranteed the floppage of this album. And this is coming from someone who actually listened to and likes the album and has been a fairly strong defender of Justin until recently.

Projections based on Friday's sales and streams find Kacey Musgraves' sixth album, Deeper Well (Interscope/MCA Nashville), heading for an opening salvo in the 75-85k range. Deeper Well's big debut will exceed that of the artist's previous release, Star-Crossed, which debuted with 77k in September 2021. Musgraves is repped by Sandbox Entertainment's Jason Owen.
Meanwhile, our experts have just set down the abacus and predicted that Ariana Grande, who's managed by Good World’s Brandon Creed, will repeat at #1 with eternal sunshine (Republic), itself projecting 80-90k after opening last week with over 200k. If Deeper Well overperforms, things could get interesting. Stay tuned…
Kacey Musgraves (Interscope/MCA Nashville): 75-85k Justin Timberlake (RCA): 60-65k Bossman Dlow (Alamo): 21-24k

60-65k from 300k last album, a collapse. I really thought he’d stay above 100k.
Kacey! Slay a bit

I would love KM to finally get a #1! Solid enough for Justin. Let's see if he can get some more hits from it.
