Just discovered this. This song is incredible. I knew his original version of Forgot To Be A Lover, later overhauled by Billy Idol as To Be A Lover.
Released in 1961 on the Stax label, this became one of the fledgling label’s first hits. Reached #95 on the pop charts. Since then, the track has gone on to become considered a Southern soul classic. The song revolves around the singer's confession of his unfaithfulness to his lover and, now that she's gone, his realization of his foolishness.
I need to check out his catalogue.

I love this one too. It has to be one of the very few (only?) times I prefer someone else's version to a song Otis Redding also did.
