11. Speed Demon

According to Quincy Jones, "Speed Demon", written and produced by MJ, came about after Michael received a traffic ticket, which caused him to arrive late to the recording studio. It was released as a promotional single in September 1989 and was also used in the 1988 movie Moonwalker.

10. Just Good Friends (w/Stevie Wonder)

Written by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, "Just Good Friends" was a duet with Stevie Wonder, who had previously written "I Can't Help It" for Off The Wall. The song is similar to "The Girl Is Mine" in that the two are arguing over a woman.

9. I Just Can't Stop Loving You (w/Siedah Garrett)

Michael had originally intended "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" to be a duet with either Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston. Babs turned down the offer, because she had reservations about their 16-year age differences and thought the lyrics wouldn’t be believable for them. Whitney's label Arista thought it would be too risky as she was promoting her album Whitney at the time. Ultimately, MJ's duet partner turned out to be Siedah Garrett, who at the time was most known for her 1984 duet with Dennis Edwards, "Don't Look Any Further".

The song was released in July 1987 as the lead single from Bad. It topped the soul, AC, and Hot 100 charts, and hit #1 in six other countries. During the Bad tour he performed it with his backup singer Sheryl Crow.

The earliest pressings of Bad included a spoken-word intro by MJ. It was cut out of the single version as well as later pressings of the album.

8. Liberian Girl

MJ had written "Liberian Girl" as early as 1983 and was in contention for the Jacksons' Victory album. It was later recorded for Bad, and was released in July 1989 as the ninth and final single across Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. It topped the charts in Ireland and reached the Top 10 in Finland, and receieved a positive response in the country of Liberia. The swahili chant is performed by Letta Mbulu. It means "I love you too, I want you too, my love".

The music video is filled with numerous celebrity cameos, including Steven Spielberg, Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, Paula Abdul, and Dan Aykroyd.

I figured the songs from 6-9 or so would be a bit harder to identify a real order, and then the big hits would clearly make up the top 5 or so.

Like RoseColoredGirl I like "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" a lot, as evidenced by my #4 placement (samesies lol!).

7. Leave Me Alone

Written by MJ, "Leave Me Alone" was essentially a response to the negative rumors about him that surfaced after the success of Thriller. It was released in February 1989 as the eighth single from Bad outside of North America. It topped the charts in Greece and Ireland and hit the Top 10 in eight other countries.

The music video appears in Moonwalker. It won a Grammy For Best Short Form Music Video.

6. Another Part Of Me

"Another Part Of Me" was originally written for the 1986 3D short film Captain EO. It was later reworked for Bad, but almost didn't make it on the album. Quincy Jones wanted this song while MJ wanted "Streetwalker", but when MJ's manager Frank DiLeo started dancing to "Another Part Of Me", that broke the tie.

It was released in July 1988 as the sixth single from Bad. It topped the soul chart and peaked at #11 on the Hot 100, and hit the Top 10 in six other countries. The music video was taken from his performances during the Bad tour.

Speed Demon - I guess I shouldn't be surprised this was revealed first but it's too funky for me to rank low, and how many other MJ songs are there about the thrill of speeding?

Just Good Friends - Can we at least agree this is a better duet than The Girl Is Mine?

I Just Can't Stop Loving You - if there is one track I would skip when revisiting the album, it's this one. Admittedly the chorus is memorable.

Leave Me Alone - Now this is an underrated bop. It is sad how MJ's reputation went downhill in later years.

Liberian Girl - I enjoy the tropical vibes on this track but not as much as most of the other songs.

Another Part Of Me - I actually have been to the Captain EO attraction at EPCOT at Walt Disney World.

11. Speed Demon: Aww I'm a little sad with this showing up as it was my #9 but not upset or devastated by it. I get this being last as it wasn't one of the singles (I think?), but still a good and enjoyable song.

10. Just Good Friends (w/Stevie Wonder): Ahh dangg now my #8 shows up. I feel the same way with this showing up. This was fun and really good to hear Michael & Stevie on the same track. Wish this could have been a bit better and do better than my Bottom 2.

9. I Just Can't Stop Loving You (w/Siedah Garrett): Dangg now my #7 shows up. What will it take for my Bottom 2 to show up already? lmaooo. This is a really beautiful and stunning song. It's different from all of the other songs on the album but it's beautiful and that helps make it stand out. It could be one of my favorite ballads from Michael but I need to think this through.

8. Liberian Girl: Oooh okay, yay I was waiting for my #11 to show up so I'm happy it's shown up now. I can get this song being polarizing with the highest SD. It's a good song but just the song I least cared for from this album. Interesting how this song didn't have any #4 or #5 rankings.

7. Leave Me Alone: Ahh this was my #6. This is such a fun song and I do love this song. It's such a fun, catchy and infectious jam. It's another one of those songs I wish I had paid much more attention to than I did.

6. Another Part Of Me: This is my #10, so thank goodness this song shows up and misses the Top 5. This was nice but it's also not a song I cared or was that big on while listening to it especially compared to the other songs. Nice song though.

But yesss, this is such a FLAWLESS Top 5! My Top 5 all makes it to the Top 5. I would be happy with any of these songs winning.
