Samples "Straight To Hell" by The Clash, and appeared in the trailer for the movie Pineapple Express and on the soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire. It received a Grammy nomination for Record Of The Year.

The success of the song garnered criticism in her native Sri Lanka, where she was accused of being a terrorist due to her support for the Tamil Tigers, who were considered a terrorist group in numerous countries. MIA accused the Sri Lankan government of ethnic cleansing and systematic genocide against the Tamils.

Solid top 10, despite some unfortunate losses along the way.

I was today years old when I realized that people (well, one person, really) went so hard for rankdowns that they had to result to borderline personal attacks over them, but I guess if one's sole contribution to the board is rankdowns, I guess it makes sense? The internet really is a special place. That said, maybe I need to pay attention to the other rankdowns, even the ones in which I don't participate, to see what kind of behavior goes down.

Honestly, I'm not really mad at that Top 10, though I do agree So Fresh, So Clean is not one of Outkast's best songs, but it's definitely one of their catchiest, which is probably why it's here and so high on the list.

15. Hip Hop Hooray - Naughty By Nature (9): OMG wow, I did not realize "Hip Hop Hooray" had sampled soo many songs. Dang that sample list sure is massive. And lol I knew how after yesterday's reveals went so beautifully for me that I was bound to lose a big favorite. This song is such a classic anthem! Absolutely love this song. It's so fun, so catchy and it just makes me so happy. So good! Happy with its placement though I would have loved seeing this rank even higher.

14. Paper Planes - M.I.A. (19): Ah it's so interesting seeing how this song made it all the way to 3rd on the 2008 Hot 100 rankdown but it makes it to 14th here. And then I have it much higher here, haha. Anyway, I do really like this. Such a cool, fun and slick jam. I enjoy the beat/production and how M.I.A. raps on this.

13. Party Up (Up In Here) - DMX (5): Ahh nooo, not another Top 10 loss. Gosh this one hurts even worse as this is my #5. Absolutely LOVE this song. This is such a banger and a jam! Love the music production and beat here. Also love how DMX raps here and how hard he goes here. And that chorus is so catchy, iconic and it's everything. Sad that this miss the Top 10 but happy it made it this far, at least.

12. Mo Money Mo Problems - The Notorious B.I.G. (7): Oooh nooo, this is another Top 10 favorite of mine gone now, ugh. :( Dangg this is another fire jam/song that I really love a ton too. It's a fun and catchy song. Love the sample, feel and vibe of the song and enjoy what all of the artists bring to the song. And one of my biggest favorites from Biggie.

11. Changes - 2Pac (6): Dangg today's reveals are REALLY gonna be brutal to me, huh? Dangg I can't believe I lost 4 out of 6 of my Top 10 songs just like this on this set. :( And also losing Biggie and 2Pac before the Top 10? So rude. :( Anyway, I love the mix of the softer and intense rapping style from 2Pac here. This is such a good song and I love the strong/powerful message it provides. One of my favorites from 2Pac.

10. So Fresh, So Clean - Outkast (13): Lol dangg, the time I am rooting for an OutKast song to rank super high and make it to at least the Top 5 or so, it's the first one to drop out of this Top 10! Anywho, I do love this jam! It's so fun, catchy and I just love the chill vibe of it. Glad that this was able to still make it to the Top 10 though.

9. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar (25): I'm not surprised this made it to the Top 10, as it's Kendrick after all. This is a really cool song and I like the vibe/feel of it. And of course Kendrick's rap delivery is great here. I think this was the song that introduced me to him? Or at least the song I liked first from him.

8. Stay Fly - Three 6 Mafia (26): Oooh kinda impressive to see that the lowest rank for this is #31. This is a really cool song and another song I do enjoy. I don't love it as much as most people but it's still a good song.

7. Award Tour - A Tribe Called Quest (36): Oooh nice, it's my lowest remaining entry getting revealed. I got no complaints about that. This was a cool enough and enjoyable song. I like the sound/feel of it. It's a song that I am not super familiar with but I enjoyed it while listening to it. Maybe I would have ranked this if I heard this more. But yeah I can get why this ranked so highly.

6. Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz (28): Not too surprised to see this song rank this high as I was expecting it to do so. I thought it would have made it to the Top 5 but I'm fine with this missing out. This is a cool and kinda funky song. Despite being really familiar with this and hearing this a lot, it's never been a song I was ever that huge on.

Samples "Boadicea" by Enya and interpolates "Ready Or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide From Love)" by The Delfonics. The use of the "Boadicea" sample was done without permission, which almost led to a lawsuit for copyright infringement. The matter was eventually settled out of court, and Enya was given songwriting credit. "Ready Or Not" was itself sampled in the Mario Winans hit "I Don't Wanna Know", which was later covered by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage under the title "Creepin'".

"Gangsta's Paradise" was released in 1995 from the soundtrack to the movie Dangerous Minds. It peaked at #2 on the R&B chart and topped the Hot 100 and was an international smash, reaching #1 in eighteen countries. It finished as the top single of 1995 in five countries, including the US. The song samples "Pastime Paradise" by Stevie Wonder, and won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance.

"Weird Al" Yankovic did a parody of the song titled "Amish Paradise".

"Stan" was released in 2000 from his album The Marshall Mathers LP. Featuring Dido, it peaked at #36 on the R&B chart and topped the charts in twelve other countries. It made the word "stan" enter the pop culture lexicon as another word for obsessed fan and has been used for all different kinds of fandoms. The song samples Dido's "Thank You", which in turn helped that song become a hit in its own right.
