How much will TTPD sell first week (vinyls, cds, digital, streaming combined)? Can Taylor top 1989 (TVs) sales?

From what I've seen and heard about the preorders (Incl. Target preorder data) and her stratospheric stance right now in the industry, my prediction is that this is doing MINIMUM 2.5 million first week. The 90,000 signed albums sold out in less than an hour and I've seen hundreds of people online lamenting about how they missed out. She has so man new fans and casual listeners since Midnights came out. With streaming units, I think 25's record could be reachable. There is so much demand, industry folk are speculating that you won't even be able to buy a copy in store. I hope she can achieve this!

Sadly the lack of stock may be her Achilles Heal from reaching Adele’s numbers. I remember when 25 was released the shelves were stocked. So much so that I was able to buy and album the second week of release. 1989 (TV) sold out at my two local Targets by the first night and wasn’t restocked from what I could tell until a week later. IF they properly stock this release in stores and IF they have something else up their sleeves, I can see it passing 2.5 million but unfortunately I think that’s the high end of things. I hope she proves me wrong but Adele had no haters during 25 era and everyone was rooting for her. Unfortunately Taylor does not have that same kind of appeal but this will be her career peak IMO. Coming off of Midnights, The Eras Tour and Film, and the TVs… it may never get as good as this. Let’s just celebrate the moment and enjoy whatever it debuts at!

I completely agree that this is the pinnacle of her commercial success. She's approaching 40 (geriatric by industry standards - I love how she referenced that in one of her late night appearances a few years ago now), I'll be happy with anything as I know it's almost guaranteed to be the best selling debut of this year. It's just so hard to quantify sentiment. I think she's definitely overexposed and a portion of the gp are tired of her, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if the sheer amount of success and reach she's had since Midnights negates her overexposure. This is such an exciting time and I' so ready to celebrate no matter how much she sells (unless ofc it's under 1.5 mill - I will riot in the streets haha). Hopefully they stocked right and all the needed conditions can come together! I'm also so excited to see how she will approach TS12 and then TS13. I think she's definitely smart enough to make TS13 into a career capstone, eras 2.0-esque, celebration by the time she reaches 38-40ish. If she can just hold on relevancy-wise (we've seen how Beyonce's star has naturally dwindled a little since the late 2010s - since passing 40), I think she could pull it off and she'll further cement herself as the last juggernaut and be on par with the greatest music legends; a level I think she's just reached since last year.

In this era, opening with a million is a big deal and Taylor sure will surpass that. The amazing thing to me is her physical sales. Tayler pumps out physical sales like a machine.

I definitely hope she explores new genres in the next few eras. I would LOVE a Rock/Alternative album in the vein of K Flay meets Imagine Dragons meets Paramore. I’d also LOVE a Dance/Electro album from her in the vein of This Is What We Came For. I think my biggest ask is that she explores other producers. I fcuking love Jack and Aaron and the work they’ve done with her, but new perspective can also bring new creativity and freshness. Hey hey hey! I’m only two months younger than Tay, I don’t appreciate the geriatric jab 😭😂 we are not even 35 yet, let us live!!! With the two TVs likely to be released this year too (my guess is October for Reputation and December for Debut), I could totally picture TTPD running April-July, announcement for Rep (TV) late July with 2-3 months of pre-orders, and then Debut on her birthday with a surprise drop the week after. She’s never had 4 #1 albums in a calendar year and I can totally see her try for it one more time since she has the TVs as easy #1s. With all of this said, it’s just a fun time to be a fan! She spoils us like crazy and I just appreciate her for the love she gives the fans and her art.

Whoa, predicting over 1 million, don't go too far out on that limb! 2 million is the floor and now with the extended version I think 2.5m+ is realistic.

2.5 mil is my current guess but we'll have to see how numbers change throughout the week.
