Homegirl is tired and jetlagged to buggery, I don’t think Rep TV is happening and this music video feels like the end of the current tour domination with the Europe leg ended.
This video for me had the opposite effect, has actually made me dislike the song.

Like many of us predicted, this single turned out to be somewhat of a misfire. Hoping they pivot quickly to Down Bad and allow it to fulfill its destiny as a sad girl autumn anthem.

I truly believe any of the other 29 songs would have performed the same on radio (and probably same or worse on streaming).
The live video and incoming possible break after the Tour also scream "last single from the album!!" imo.

While this is technically the catchiest, poppiest song on the album pretty easily, it’s also… annoying. So I can both see why it would have been chosen and also why it wouldn’t do much. But agreed nothing was going to do anything beyond whatever Taylor’s name gets a song right now.

Just realized that while "Fortnight" broke her #1 streak on Pop, her #1 streak on Hot AC is still going. If this hits #1 there, it'll be her fifth in a row. She's also on a streak of 15 top 10 singles, going back to "Delicate" hitting #1 in 2018. Here's her Billboard Adult Pop Airplay peaks: Radio Singles: #1. Anti-Hero #4. Lavender Haze #1. Karma Lavender Haze stays getting shafted despite being the best song from that album

This song had a horrible burn rate for me. I loved the hooks for the first month and now I’m over it.
Down Bad ASAP please before people start to move on from this era.

Kinda funny that the video actually didn't move the needle at all for this. Music videos are a dying thing it seems.

Let this ride to the top 5 on pop and #1 on HAC and call it a day. If Rep TV comes this year or next, she'll still have a break on radio for a bit which will be good. She's basically had 7 singles back to back with zero breaks since before "Anti-Hero."

All other songs on the album are already done on streaming so it would be pretty pointless to try to rebirth them just for pop airplay. She will finish the tour and start with something new.

If she were to release one more single, Down Bad is definitely the way to go.

ICDIWABH is doing just fine. As it heads toward 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, it still is hanging in there. Singles are really meant more for casual fans and those who still might not own her album. Believe it or not, it is still selling and streaming and songs on the radio or streaming in public places do help. Until the radio and streams plummet and it falls off the Hot 100, there is no rush for another single. I agree, Down Bad will be the perfect way for them to end this era. So, in the case of her TTTPD album, this song is just a way for the project to be in the eyes of the general public. Taylor and her camp get the big picture, and longevity means radio and streaming in public places. You have to admit, we sure hear Taylor in public places. Like most on here, I too love Down Bad and hope they make a push for that in a month or two.

'Down Bad' can be the CS of 2028.
Honestly, Taylor was *done* with TTPD the moment it was released. It was her way to get closure on that part of her life. Perhaps they'll do a push for this track right around the Miami shows in mid-Oct to kick-off the final US/Eras shows.

Yes that is so true, I was even surprised she included a section on The Eras Tour on the album. This song feels like its just a tasty morsel to tide us over until her next big thing. It also feels like the appropriate track to wind down the Taylor Swift enterprise as a juggernaut of the past three years. Because some of the backlash is indeed starting, at no fault of hers, just gradual progression. ETA: Adding quote for the user I was replying to

She left way more obvious hits like Cruel Summer, Don't Blame, Getaway Car, Enchanted and August as album tracks (until audiences streamed them into hits), and none of the tracks on TTPD feel to me like obvious hits like those. Down Bad kinda seems to be building towards an explosive chorus and then the actual chorus comes and it's just as lethargic as the rest of the track. Truly one of the producing choices of all time lol; there's actually a pop hit hidden there but they just didn't approach the song in a way that made it shine.
I'm not saying 2024 Taylor Swift could not turn it into a hit, but the very small effort made for ICDIWABH didn't reignite it's streaming when it was already kinda high on Spotify, it's gonna be much harder to turn a song already out of the top 200 into anything meaningful. (Also noteworthy that even with smaller numbers than last year, august is on track to potentially beat this on streaming this week)

Down Bad can't be the Cruel Summer of the album. Guilty as Sin already has that title!
I'm not sure how many streams it's getting in the US alone (since it's been outside the top 200 for a bit), but globally, it's getting the 3rd most streams daily from the album (around 1 million daily, after Fortnight at 1.9 and Broken Heart at 1.7). In terms of total streams, it's currently 4th (a bit behind Down Bad but outgaining it by 150k daily at the moment).
Not too bad for a song that began behind 9 other TS songs its debut week, especially since it's not a single and not part of the tour setlist.

'Down Bad' almost went top 40 on pop radio long before they ever pulled the trigger on this as the 2nd single. Radio easily could've forced the label's hand. Radio was chomping at the bit to play anything from her when this era launched, her momentum was unprecedented. They latched onto the songs doing best on streaming initially when it was clear there weren’t obvious radio hits on the album (which were mostly the opening tracks). Down Bad is like approximately the 117th most radio ready song she’s recorded.
