Taylor Swift - "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart"

Bejeweled and this to me feel similarly “glitter-gel penned” sparkly dopamine rushes in the back half of the album to get some blood pumping again.

This did really hit me today though. Total bop. I just think Bejeweled is one of her best pure pop uptempos of the last few years.

Sometimes I feel like they will for sure release this as a single, other times I think “would that be weird messaging with Eras Tour”?

She is missing a hot 100 #1 if they don’t. She is in a position to legitimately make a run for the coveted Beatles’ record, so I wouldn’t just be throwing aside easy #1s if I were her…

The thing is I could see this having a really high burn rate. It’s really (deliberately) chaotic.

They have a very similar synth intro and the drum pattern in the verses/pre-chorus is exactly the same. Pretty sure they’re the same tempo. Think it was called out in a review or two as well.

This song has a universal appeal about it beyond just a break-up. I lost someone very close to me and, at the same time, I'm venturing into a new career. I have to put on this brave face as I'm networking with both old colleagues and new people. Frankly, it sucks.

Now before I chat or meet someone, I play this song to inspire me. Taylor did that. I hope they give this a real push to #1.

Yes. If I understand that user’s post correctly, they’re saying artists don’t ever score two hot 100 #1s after the album comes out anymore? While this is true, it’s also worth noting that Taylor is in a pretty unique position as one of the few big artists who has started releasing all her recent albums with no singles ahead of time. So this puts albums like that in a different category where the 2nd single after album release can absolutely still be viable to go #1 on the hot 100. I would agree that if they waited until single 3, this would likely need remix treatment for #1 on hot 100. And this would be a really awkward song to tack someone onto, so hopefully they don’t do that.

As for Midnights, 2 hot 100 #1s were 100% doable that era if either a) something like Midnight Rain, Karma or Bejeweled had been given the big second single push instead of LH or b) the Karma remix as single 3 wasn’t a total head scratcher artist choice that literally no one got on board with. Hell, 3 #1s were probably possible that era with MR or Bejeweled as single 2 and then Karma remix with a high profile artist who fit the song third. She just has to be smarter this era and push this next and I see no problem for hot 100 #1.

Or maybe they could push two singles at once like they did with Positions/34+35 and Anti-Hero/Lavender Haze. 'Cause at this point radio's onboard with 'Fortnight' so it doesn't necessarily need as aggressive a push. But if this is gonna be a single they need to start working it.
