6.5 million streams only good enough for #2 is *insane*. Phew @ 'Cruel Summer' coming in under the wire. Hope it manages to squeeze out a few more weeks, but it may still be fairly far from 'SIO' in overall points.

Based on this only the first two or three Hot 100 charts in 2020 had UGC included.
"Non-song UGC", which is the biggest form was removed starting with the chart dated January 18, 2020. That's when Yummy debuted at #2, lol. "Song UGC" was removed in September 2020 the week when the Global charts were launched. However, they also made another change simultaneously in January 2020, which was removing logged-out users' streams from counting. Idk how much that is but it's probably at least 20% of views being filtered out even from "official" videos. This is part of Billboard's changes to kill YouTube's power after Old Town Road, and to ensure streams are better verified as requiring users to be signed-in allows them to vet the streams coming from U.S. users better.Interesting, I forgot about that. I would think that might have gotten rid of a significant number of streams as well (possibly more than 20%) and help to explain why streaming numbers seemed SO much less afterwards. And I wonder why they did that, I think they definitely should count, whether users are logged in or not, they're still listening to the music and contributing to its popularity. And there would be no reason to kill YouTube's power (they've been downweighing it heavily in other ways over the years anyway), but raw numbers there have been drastically cleaning even since 2020 anyway. 6.5 million streams only good enough for #2 is *insane*. Phew @ 'Cruel Summer' coming in under the wire. Hope it manages to squeeze out a few more weeks, but it may still be fairly far from 'SIO' in overall points. Agreed, however I think she would've been ok sacrificing it and definitely ok with it spending an entire year on the chart. But even if it does leave soon, with a possible summer resurgence in airplay and streams coming, I wonder if Billboard would allow it to re-chart, whether that would be a "significant reason" enough or not?

Concerning the UGC discussion, after Billboard disregarded all UGC content, they stated they'd count "only official audio and video streams". I was wondering about the status of videos uploaded by users where the whole song is featured, as is the case with lyric videos or videos featuring simply the song. These have a "Licensed to YouTube by" tag in their description followed by all the song, artist and label credits. This means that labels and artists clearly benefit from these videos. I would assume their streams count as "official audio and video streams" and not as UGC, given their nature. But I'm not entirely sure, do you guys know anything about this? Asking because these videos oftentimes have massive viewership, especially in the case of older song's lyric videos etc.

Side Note - With numbers and sounds like this, Morgan is never beating the “Just male early Taylor Swift” allegations

I know I've said how wild this month has been for the past two weeks but holy shit was this week crazy! So as has been covered multiple times at this point, the biggest story of the week (and probably the entire year, at least music wise) was the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. 4 songs from Kendrick and 3 songs from Drake came out in the span of 7 days with Kendrick decisively coming on top as the victor both in numbers and in bars. And whether you were following the feud or thought it was a waste of everyeone's time, what can't be denied is how huge it was to draw this big of numbers. Case in point: the final song from Kendrick and the also the one that's least heavy and is already going viral, setting new records for both Biggest Daily Streams and Biggest Weekly Streams for a rap song ever - Not Like Us lands on top with 31M despite just five days of tracking! It was almost double what Drake's diss 'Family Matters' did at 13M. And rubbing more salt in the wounds is euphoria more than doubling its streams as it shot up to #3 with 135.67% gains. And yet somehow another rap song was able to breakthrough and do just as big a number as Kendrick or Drake! Because Tommy Richman's viral smash 'MILLION DOLLAR BABY' rose up to 29M with an equally huge 134.2% increase! It would've actually been the top song of the week with combined streams with the VHS version, as unlike Not Like Us, it actually had a full week of tracking. This predictably had Espresso dropping from the top spot to #4, as it was down 6.2%. It meant a Bar Song (Tipsy) couldn't move up despite it being up 4.38% in streams. All of this also pushed down Fortnight which was down 30.38% but still had 15.1M which would've been enough to be #1 for several weeks just a few months ago. Having better longevity however is I Can Do It With A Broken Heart which dropped less, 29.04% to be exact. Both Down Bad and So Long, London fell out of the Top 10 as they were down 31.78% and 31.75% respectively. Unfortunately the good streams didn't extend to Dua Lipa as Radical Optimism sadly bombed with only 4 songs charting (3 of them already being singles that simply re-entered), and only garnering 11.9M streams. To put that into perspective: if Radical Optimism were a song, with these combined streams it would be #11, below I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. The only other single to drop from last week Myke Tower and Bad Bunny's collab ADIVINO which seems to be underperforming worldwide as well as it harshly fell 29.75% in streams. Yet despite being on WEEK THREE, Taylor still managed ot get 167M streams, with only two songs dropping out. We did see Gracie Abrams debut a song on the weekly charts for the first time, Kendrick's scathing killing blow of a track 'meet the grahams' debut at #11, and Marshmello teamed up with Kane Brown yet agian. Elsewhere, Illusion bounced back thanks to the album, and a number of Kendrick's catalog re-entered or rose up thanks to the beef. Notable Gains:euphoria - 135.67% MILLION DOLLAR BABY - 134.2% Money Trees - 53.56% All the Stars - 46.24% Illusion - 29.74% Like That - 29.46% As It Was - 26.47% Bandit - 24.85% Everlong - 23.3% I KNOW ? - 22.74% See You Again - 22.46% First Person Shooter - 21.12% Snooze - 17.91% Sweater Weather - 16.45% Fast Car - 15.65% Kill Bill - 14.97% Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 - 13.22% Slow It Down - 12.48% Back On My BS - 11.94% Good Days - 11.48% Never Lose Me - 11.27% Get It Sexyy - 10.74% US WEEKLY TOP 20 WITHOUT TTPD#1. Is Money Trees getting Running Up That Hill'd? Or is this a ripple effect from the beef? Likely a ripple from the beef. Money Trees has always had consistent streaming,

Houdini going recurrent on the week of Radical Optimism's release + no new album tracks.... That album really tanked huh Houdini already went recurrent, TOTC just included to show how close it would be to re-entering

TOTC is projected to occupy 25% (10 tracks) of the Top 40 in Week 3. When was the last time that happened?

Plus, Lamar's "Euphoria" leaps 11-3 among his sparring with Drake, whose "Family Matters" debuts at No. 7.
The seething rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake spills into the upper reaches of the latest Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, tilted in the former’s favor. Lamar’s “Not Like Us” launches at No. 1, while his “Euphoria” soars 11-3 in its second week on the survey. Plus, Future, Metro Boomin and Lamar’s former three-week leader “Like That” reignites 8-6. Meanwhile, Drake debuts at No. 7 with his top-charting entry in the clash, “Family Matters.”
Lamar lands his fourth Hot 100 No. 1 and ups his career count to 15 top 10s. Drake adds his record-extending 78th Hot 100 top 10.
As previously analyzed, the rappers’ feud dates back at least a decade, while the latest chapter heightened in March with the release of “Like That,” in which Lamar’s verse serves up alleged disses at Drake and J. Cole. Since then, Lamar, Drake, J. Cole and other hip-hop luminaries, including A$AP Rocky, Rick Ross, The Weeknd and Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), have all been involved, either as targets or hurling their own disses.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated May 18, 2024) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, May 14. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious or unverifiable is removed, using established criteria, before final chart calculations are made and published. Below is a rundown of the latest Hot 100’s top 10. ‘Not Like Us’ No. 1 “Not Like Us,” on pgLang/Interscope Records/ICLG, premieres on the Hot 100 with 70.9 million official streams, 5 million radio airplay audience impressions and 15,000 sold in the U.S. in the week ending May 9, despite the scathing track, which namechecks Drake and his 2021 album Certified Lover Boy, having not been released until late Sunday, May 5 (after the May 3 start of the latest charts’ tracking week). Here’s a recap of Lamar’s four Hot 100 No. 1s, his two most recent of which have debuted at the summit: “Not Like Us,” one week at No. 1 to-date, May 18, 2024 “Like That” (Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar), three weeks, beginning April 6, 2024 “Humble.,” one week, May 6, 2017 “Bad Blood” (Taylor Swift feat. Lamar), one week, June 6, 2015 “Not Like Us” arrives as the 1,171st No. 1 in the Hot 100’s 65-year history, and the 79th to debut in the top spot. The track also starts at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, where it’s Lamar’s fifth chart-topper. Its 70.9 million streams mark the top weekly total among R&B/hip-hop titles (defined as those that have hit or are eligible for Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart) since YouTube song user-generated content was removed from chart calculations in 2020. It surpasses the 67.3 million that Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug, drew in its first week, as reflected on rankings dated Sept. 18, 2021. “Not Like Us” likewise opens atop the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, as Lamar logs his fourth leader on each list.
‘Euphoria’ Roars to No. 3
Concurrently, Lamar’s “Euphoria” bounds 11-3 in its second week on the Hot 100. Released April 30 (amid the April 26-May 2 chart tracking week), it drew 49 million streams (up from 28.9 million in its first frame) and 1.9 million in airplay audience (down from 2.5 million) and sold 7,000 (up from 6,000) May 3-9.
Thanks to “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria,” Lamar ups his career total to 15 Hot 100 top 10s. He first reached the region in February 2013 as featured – with Drake, as well as 2 Chainz – on A$AP Rocky’s “F**kin Problems.”
‘Like That’ Up 22% in Streams
Rounding out Lamar’s trio of titles in the Hot 100’s top 10, his and Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” pushes 8-6. It debuted atop the April 6-dated chart and spent its first three weeks at No. 1. It gained by 22% to 34.2 million streams May 3-9, as well as 13% to 29.4 million in radio reach and 76% to 3,000 sold.
Drake’s Record-Extending 78th Top 10
Drake’s “Family Matters,” released May 4 and laser-focused on Lamar (and Metro Boomin) lyrically, debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 7 with 38 million streams, 646,000 airplay audience impressions and 5,000 sold through May 9.
With the entrance, Drake adds his record-padding 78th Hot 100 top 10, dating to his first, “Best I Ever Had,” in 2009. “Family Matters” is also his record-extending 331st entry on the chart overall.
Most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10s:
78, Drake 59, Taylor Swift 38, Madonna 35, The Beatles 32, Rihanna 30, Michael Jackson 29, Elton John 28, Mariah Carey 28, Stevie Wonder 27, Janet Jackson 26, Justin Bieber 25, Lil Wayne 25, Elvis Presley (whose career start predated the Hot 100’s inception)
Richman Leads Rest of Top 10
Tommy Richman’s first Hot 100 hit, “Million Dollar Baby,” holds at No. 2 in its second week on the chart, up 54% to 58.3 million streams, 518% to 1.9 million in airplay audience and 58% to 6,000 sold. It tops the multimetric Hot R&B Songs chart for a second week.
Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, falls to No. 4 on the Hot 100 after spending its first two weeks on the chart at No. 1. It’s the top-selling song of the week, up 1,192% to 77,000 sold (powered by 73,000 CD singles that shipped during the tracking week).
Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” dips to No. 5 from its No. 3 Hot 100 high, as it notches a third week atop the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart.
Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” slips to No. 8 from its No. 4 best; Benson Boone’s No. 2-peaking “Beautiful Things” falls 5-9 and Teddy Swims’ former one-week No. 1 “Lose Control” descends 6-10, as it tops the Radio Songs chart for a fifth week (73 million in audience, up 4%).

It's silly but I love the fact that Fortnight was at #1 for two weeks so much ME TOO. That "Barenaked Ladies' 'One Week' was #1 for one week" has been one of my favorite fun facts since it happened (I was 5 years old), and for this to be the successor to that bit of trivia is genuinely thrilling.
