Situation became straight up disturbing. I mean if everything is as said then Kendrick wins but this is some cold dark bitter shit going down here. I mean I already did not feel like “Family Matters” from Drake was enough to take on “euphoria” alone nor combined with “6:16 in LA” of course, but to hear immediately after the release of “Family Matters” with this? Rap wise, rap battle wise, diss wise, there is no contest. Kendrick has it. And this basically feels like a fight ender. But with all the implications of the claims made I just don’t even know. I’m just going to be waiting for receipts on both ends.

Meghan Trainor, Charlie puth. Same thing happened when they didn't alter their sound enough. Singles started doing worse and worse despite decent radio airplay

it’s wild because like the overall reviews were still positive for Dua. But a bit samey from Future Nostalgia.

It's not the end of the world for Dua but I don't see her becoming a staple hit singles act. She's hit her ceiling but it's not like she can't recover from this. Even if she doesn't ever reach her commercial peak ever again, she's still got a fanbase. She could pivot into being more of an indie act the way Charli XCX or Carly Rae Jepsen did. Or (and what I think is more likely) her career really becomes more localized the same way Kylie Minogue has. And hey, Kylie's career has also lasted longer even if it never really rebounded commercially.

Disappointing for those who like Dua's music no doubt but her success is also much more than any other pop star from Europe who wasn't named Adele.
