I went to see The Eras tour last weekend and musically the TTPD era was just abysmal comparing to her best moments to date. They had put effort on staging there though, which was nice.

TTPD is one of Taylor's top albums. It's a beautiful album. If it had 2 or 3 more fast songs the casuals would love it more.

Beyonce's streaming is surprising to me given how ubiquitous love for her seems to be these days. Granted as a veteran artists I'm not expecting her to be at the top of streaming, but I would expect better numbers than what she's presenting. Cowboy Carter feels as if it came and went in a flash. Regardless, it will still be a "setup" if she doesn't take AOTY home come February in the eyes of some. 🤷♀️ You're checking all the right boxes in everything you post. The grammy should by no means be handed to Beyonce just because. I don't think CBC is by any means one of her top albums.

Well let me be clear in my stance and say I think Cowboy Carter is a great album personally and I wouldn't hate it winning AOTY whatsoever. I just think the notion anyone should be awarded AOTY as a consolation, or that any artist "deserves" AOTY because of their stature, to be ridiculous. It should be about the material itself first and foremost and if not solely the material, the performance and material.

This feels like the first time in a while that the top songs are like, really relevant culturally. Those top four songs feel like they’re everywhere right now in the way a lot of big hits recently haven’t.

Meanwhile stan Twitter: "nO oNe KnOWs ThE tOp 4 SoNgS" despite them being some of the objectively biggest hits of the decade by peak performance, solely because they only know their pop girlies' songs

Beyoncé should have three AOTY's by now. And it has nothing to do with her being owed one or her stature. Performance, acclaim and the material have been there. Especially when mid albums like Harry's House and Midnights get rewarded, I don't wanna hear it, lol. Cowboy Carter is absolutely deserving as well.
And once again, Beyoncé has been doing this for over 25 years, her streaming numbers are fantastic and pound every single one of her peers into the dust. I'm not sure why people keep trying to compare her to these younger artists when she's the only act from the 90's that didn't totally fall off a cliff with new material on streaming. She's not some legacy act living off of past glories like her peers, the fact that she's still making vital new music that connects on any level and is still successful is an incredible feat. And Cowboy Carter is still in the top 10, y'all are acting like it tumbled off the chart Justin Timberlake style (her actual peer). The constant obsession with diminishing Beyoncé's success will never fail to astound me, she's literally one of the top 10 biggest female artists of all time, lol. Throw in DC she's even higher. Like what else does this woman need to accomplish?

We’re talking about the same award that gave Macklemore “Best Rap Album” over Kendrick Lamar?

I am surprised (impressed?) how well Kendrick is still holding up from a "diss" track. Is the beef over then? All of the sudden it just seemed to stop lol.

You aren't a Grammy voter (as far as I know), so your opinion of the album is irrelevant to the discussion. The facts are that Cowboy Carter is one of the best reviewed albums of the year, it has been commercially successful, and it has seemingly changed the game a bit in terms of bringing some new people to country music and opening some of the country industry to Black artists (i.e. "A Bar Song" being a hit is a direct path from CC). All of those are things that would certainly make it a great AOTY winner.

I think it's humorous if one even is surprised or questions Beyonce's current streaming figures with Cowboy Carter and the longevity of the era (which people do all day everyday with other artist's albums) they're suddenly "minimizing her success" or trying to diminish it. Chile we are gonna dislocate bones reaching. God forbid anyone criticize or dare question the Queen B in any way. Personally I am well aware Beyonce is a veteran artist, but Beyonce is also still ubiquitous and seen as competition to many these days. Her name is in circulation just as much as any big name presently. In the same way people don't compare Taylor Swift to her peers and judge her on her own merits given her stature (people give that woman no passes), the exact same should be applied with Beyonce and the bigger names as well. Who the hell is stacking Beyonce up to Justin Timberlake to measure whether or not she's doing well? 😂 Sure she's doing better relatively than her "peer(s)", but she's in a league of her own and isn't really comparable to them, much in the same way Taylor isn't to hers. I wasn't even saying Beyonce was doing poorly, just that her streaming numbers weren't what I thought they would be. The album is still a success at the end of the day and I never said any less. Just expected it to hold better. That's it. That's all.

That you look at Beyoncé as still current, competition and as a peer speaks to her insane longevity and name value. But it's not acknowledging reality or facts. She's been a successful household name for 25+ years. If Usher, JT, Christina Aguilera, Britney, P!nk where landing #1 hits and hitting album numbers that rival people twenty years their junior, people in here would be losing their minds and saying how insane it is. But nope, it's Beyoncé, she's doing alright!
Not a single artist from her generation is doing what she's doing. Hell, look at every single legend that came before her. Madonna, Prince, Michael, Janet, Mariah, etc. Not a single one of them were in the place she's at right now. And how many heavy-hitters that came after is she trumping? What she's accomplishing is not normal and quite astounding. And her doing it without promo and barely any effort (she's literally been on vacay in Japan since CC dropped) is even crazier.
So yeah, there's this little thing called context when it comes to Beyoncé and her numbers. Why anyone would be mystified by a 40+ year old veteran not pulling the same numbers as stars born of the streaming generation is beyond me. The fact that she's even this competitive is a total anomaly.

But nope, it's Beyoncé, she's doing alright! Trust me, I get what you're saying, but it's understandable given Beyonce is really in her own lane. Her longevity, success, and name (much like Taylor's) sets the bar much higher for her than for her peers, because she's on a whole other level. I said in my original post I wasn't expecting her to have huge streaming numbers. The gist of what I was saying was I expected the album would have more longevity than it has. That's all. Not that her numbers weren't good or she flopped. I wasn't trying to diminish anything. I dunno why people would be mystified by such as I never expected her to pull in top notch numbers and I said that intially. I just expected better longevity, but I guess that has to do with the awful second single choice. They should've released the Post collab.

An extended version of my favourite part of the song? Love it! *_* Hoping the new remix of "Fortnight" can manage to keep it in the top 10 for another week, although might be close!

I know this isn’t the right place to ask this, not sure where to, but does anyone know the date that Careless Whisper by Wham was released as a single in the United States? Not the album it’s from but the single.
I’m positive it was around Feb 1985 but someone is telling me it was in 1984.

I think a lot of this discussion is unnecessary circles because two things can both be true.
1. Beyonce still even pulling these numbers and having this relevance overall this long into her career is a great achievement and a testament to her legacy.
2. Texas Hold & Cowboy Carter both fizzled out earlier than many people expected based on their initial starts.

I want Kendrick back on top and dominating! "Not Like Us" >>>>>> "I Had Some Help" & "Million Dollar Baby"! And boy oh boy Sabrina got screwed over by timing! Perhaps a bold prediction, but i think sabrina is going to outlast all of those songs in the top 10. even if they these songs feel like bigger "moments" now, espresso has been lurking behind them and has stayed extremely consistent, or is even gaining, since it came out.

2024 ACM Awards Spur Streaming Gains for Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson & Kelsea Ballerini
Last week’s Reba McEntire-hosted ACM Awards (May 16) treated viewers to show-stopping performances and moving acceptance speeches, both of which resulted in impressive streaming gains for some of country music’s biggest stars.
Chris Stapleton – who took home three trophies, including male artist, artist-songwriter and album of the year – had the night’s buzziest performance thanks to a surprise appearance from Dua Lipa. The pop star joined the soulful country crooner on a duet version of “Think I’m in Love With You,” the second single from his 2023 album Higher. During the Friday and Saturday preceding the ACMs (May 10-11), Stapleton’s track pulled 1.6 million official on-demand U.S. streams, according to Luminate. That number grew by 15% to 1.86 million streams the following Friday-Saturday (May 18-19). Notably, U.S. digital sales for “Think I’m In Love With You” ballooned 908% from 114 copies sold (May 11-12) to 1,149 copies sold (May 18-19). This bodes well for the pair’s upcoming collaboration, slated for release later this year.
Stapleton and Lainey Wilson tied as the night’s most-awarded artists, with the recent Billboard cover star reigning victorious in the categories of entertainer, female artist and music event of the year. Wilson opened the show with a medley of Little Texas’ “God Blessed Texas” and her own “Hang Tight Honey,” the lead single for her forthcoming Whirlwind LP.
Released mid-tracking week on May 13, “Hang Tight Honey” earned just over 223,000 official on-demand U.S. streams during the weekend preceding the ACMs (May 15-16). By the following weekend (May 18-19), that figure exploded by 333% to 968,000 streams, likely boosted by both her performance and key New Music Friday playlist placements. Like Stapleton’s track, “Honey” also posted sizable sales gains, more than doubling from 402 copies sold (May 15-16) to 851 copies sold (May 18-19).
Wilson’s win for female artist of the year came at the expense of Kelsea Ballerini, who was recognized in that category at the 2024 ceremony. Nonetheless, Ballerini scored a streaming win of her own thanks to her Noah Kahan-assisted mash-up of her own “Mountain With a View” and his smash hit “Stick Season.”
“Mountain With a View,” the opening track to Ballerini’s Grammy-nominated Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP, earned 95,000 official on-demand U.S. streams during the weekend preceding the ACMs (May 11-12). Following her beautiful Kahan link-up, that figure rose by 21% to 115,000 streams the weekend following the awards show (May 18-19). – KYLE DENIS
Disqualified Eurovision Single Scores Bigger U.S. Streams Than Song Contest Winner
Although Eurovision, the long-running international song contest held each spring, has historically had a muted impact on the U.S. charts, recent contests did produce some crossover stars (such as 2021 winners Måneskin) and singles (like Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade,” which became a top 40 hit on the Hot 100 after earning the 2019 Eurovision crown). Following the 2024 edition last week, multiple Eurovision singles are earning sizable weekly streams in the U.S. — although the winning Eurovision single is actually being out-gained by a song that wasn’t allowed to place in the contest.
“The Code,” an operatic drum-n-bass track by Swiss performer Nemo about their self-acceptance as a non-binary artist, emerged victorious in the Eurovision final, and its streams have skyrocketed in the days following the competition. Released in February, “The Code” earned 86,000 U.S. on-demand streams during the week ending May 9, the day the song was featured in the second semi-final, according to Luminate; the following week (May 10-16), that number jumped to 868,000, essentially multiplying its weekly U.S. streams tenfold after winning the competition on May 11.
In a bizarre twist, however, “Europapa,” the Netherlands’ Eurovision nominee by the Dutch artist and former YouTuber Joost, is practically doubling the U.S. weekly streams of “The Code,” earning 1.75 million streams during the week ending May 16. The rave track was disqualified from the Eurovision final “following threatening behaviour directed at a female member of the production crew” by Joost backstage at the contest, according to an official statement. And while “Europapa” may be earning more streams from American listeners, “The Code” is resonating with global listeners, debuting at No. 18 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart this week, while “Europapa” bows at No. 37. – JASON LIPSHUTZ

I am surprised (impressed?) how well Kendrick is still holding up from a "diss" track. Is the beef over then? All of the sudden it just seemed to stop lol. Yeah, it’s over. Kendrick won, Drake got humiliated and is probably laying low hoping it passes without permanently damaging his career too much.

Drake's catalogue is like 10x the quantity of Kendrick's, obviously it will always have higher total streams lol.

The end all point is, his career is not in any danger and Kendrick's "Mainstream" moment is a flash in the pan. He will continue to be a critical darling and maybe get some small urban hits here and there, the end.

It may be true that Drake’s career is not over, but to say this has had no effect on him whatsoever is absurd. Even the Pusha T beef that he lost in 2018 had a forever everlasting effect on him, you think this massive ordeal won’t? It is not all or nothing, damage has been done. Also, calling KENDRICK LAMAR a flash in the pan is disgraceful.

It's crazy how Billie's LUNCH #5 debut would be her highest debut and 3rd highest-peaking Hot 100 song. You would think she AT LEAST has 5 top 5s.
