He was/is always more of an album seller, which isn't a bad thing either lol a bit surprising though but still it is like he traded single success for multiple diamond albums He wasn’t a radio darling. But the GP clearly loved his singles (and albums), hence all the diamond plaques 💅🏻. Also a huge MTV staple; his videography helped his cultural status a lot, back when that mattered. |

Thanks very much posting that. It’s crazy that for someone of his status, h actually had very little pop radio success. Being a teenager around the time of his biggest success, he was everywhere. Even on Urban radio a lot of his singles seemed more like long running moderate hits. But I'm surprised by his Pop radio success, I thought it was much bigger. I was around your age during his prime and I also remember him being a massive star |

He still was and is one of the most iconic stars then and now. I think just some radio still didn't want to play the "controversy" but everyone still knew the songs. The videos got massive airplay on MTV, etc.

Even back then, pop radio wasn't really where teens (especially boys) got their music. I was a tween during Eminem's rise. Every single he dropped was a cultural event, was played and discussed everywhere. We were buying the CD (downloading from Limewire  ) and listening on our headphones in school, or watching the video on MTV. We had no clue what the radio or Billboard peaks were, they all felt like #1s. |

As someone who was constantly listening to pop, urban, and ac radio as an adolescent/teen, it’s certainly no surprise to me he didn’t have a lot of radio smashes back then. I don’t remember hearing his songs on radio much at all outside of Lose Yourself, maybe Without Me. The Eminem songs I’ve heard on radio the most are both of the Rihanna #1s, and it’s not even remotely close.
