Excited to hear this at the Superbowl next year! They picked the perfect performer at the perfect time! Idk about anyone else, but the public discourse online of him performing currently from other artists is SO annoying to watch. Like, entitled whiny artists complaining it wasn't Lil Wayne, as if anything is owed to these people (let alone a performance slot), and for Lil Wayne to then publicly throw himself a pity party when he was one of Kendrick's inspirations and has shown him so much love is wiiiild. It's all so incredibly disrespectful smh and takes focus off an overall win for the black community and an incredible moment for Kendrick. Like can we all just collectively celebrate this man please?? That isn't asking too much.

Sheer popularity is making it climb. People are still listening to it a lot. It's going to go down as one of 2024's most iconic songs. I feel like CHR is obligated to have this peak in the top 10, though it certainly won't hit #1.

Yeah, I also can’t think of anything this purely rap getting so high on CHR. Could certainly be forgetting something though. Actually, Humble is the other one coming to mind, but that missed top 20 and I’d argue is more melodic and hooky than this.

in the 2000s, Rap crossovers would be common on Pop, in the 2010s, not so much, didn't In Da Club get to number 1 on Pop for like 5 weeks? If I am not mistaken.

Finally heard this on my other local CHR today, and oof, it sounded rough. They edited down the song to only two minutes through completely removing the second verse, and most of the final bridge is edited out as well (it jumps from the chorus to "Hey, hey, hey, hey, run for your life"). For some reason, the "wop wop wop" part is also removed and it jumps to "Why you trollin'..."

According to AllAccess, they also appear to only be giving this about 10-ish spins per week, almost all of which are overnight. It sucks that we still have pop stations that are hesitant about playing a rap song in 2024, particularly given this is arguably pretty pop-friendly.

My local pop station runs the full song, but the lyrics are absolutely massacred. Almost half the lyrics are muted, I swear. They at least let the "A-minor" and "wop, wop, wop" parts go, though.

I don't think it is just because it is a rap song, it is because it is a very controversial rap song lol and contains a lot of (false) lines about underage children.

It might have been the iHeart Radio festival, lots of songs got bad updates today, (Die With A Smile which is doing incredibly well on streaming lost spins as well).

I haven't heard this once on my local pop station but I know KIIS FM in Los Angeles plays this like once an hour and like others have said, it's rough. It's a very hard listen because 70 percent of the song is censored and it just doesn't work, honestly.
