On another note this Saturday marks ten years since the 'countdown king' left us. I noticed on this week's show Ryan listed in a row all the songs that fell off of the countdown [like Casey used to do] instead of just one or two. He also gave a shoutout to a bunch of affilates who air the countdown [like Casey also used to do]. Is Ryan switching it up or emulating his predacessor's habits? i heard the station shoutouts that included my hometown affiliate KSLZ in St Louis My hometown affiliate was mentioned on the HOT AC version. Wild 955. When did you hear the shoutouts? I guess that my station was included too. Thanks. |

Well that's kind of odd of "greedy" to be the biggest fall for a #1 smash. I don't think I've seen this kind of thing happen since "Watermelon Sugar", another #1 smash, dropped 7 from the top 10 as the biggest fall 4 years ago. If that's not bad enough, take "Same Old Love", for example, when that one fell 9 from #19 to #28 as the biggest fall 8 years ago. It seems like we're seeing what happened earlier in the 2000s when #1 songs began to fall big. Just hope that "greedy" can still manage to drop slowly down before that one's gone. Is It Over Now? was a big dropper when it fell from #1 to #6 on 4/6 but yes, and? fell worst that week (down 16 from#17 to #33) Meanwhile, on the Hot AC chart, “Stick Season” falls from #1 to #6. It’s the biggest fall of the week (I don’t ever remember that happening from #1) and may be the biggest fall from #1 since Ryan started that version in December 2004. |

Yes that is so true about ‘Greedy’ by Tate McRae falling to 21. Meanwhile ‘Is it over now?’ By Taylor Swift is still on the chart where in real stats it’s in the 60’s and how long to ‘Get him back’ by Olivia Rodriogo bow out of the countdown. It’s very inconsistent in regards to AT40. Hopefully the drop doesn’t affect ‘Greedy’s run for the number one of the year |

I'll Be by Edwin McCain probably was a recurrent in 98 when it spent 40+ weeks on the chart, same with Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas

Casey used the official R&R/Mediabase pop chart for most of his 1989-2004 run (CT40 + AT40), which had a recurrent rule beginning in 1996. So yes, recurrents were cut from Casey's show. I remember it was a whole big thing when Ryan took over and all these old songs were suddenly back on the show. True. Only difference with recurrency between now and then is that it was under number 20 with atleast 20 weeks on the chart instead of below number 10 these days |

God I miss Casey as host so much :( Speaking of Casey, Ryan led into "Memories" by noting that the listener who requested it (Tim from San Francisco) is a long time AT40 listener, going back to "our founding host, Casey Kasem". I wonder if it's only a coincidence that "Memories" was a requested extra on the 10th anniversary of Casey's death. |
