Glad to see this turned around a bit. Now that she’s potentially teasing a new album, this may be the last single from her debut, which is a crime, but understandable consideringhow it’s all played out. I hope she has good stuff coming or else there’s wasted material from her debut. At least she’s gotten a top 10 from the album, a #1 from a droplet. Here’s hoping she has continued success with new music.

Considering it was like pulling teeth to get this to Top 10 here and it never made it there on the H100… I don’t see why they’d keep going with more singles, all the other songs and singles from the album feel like hits anyways. Bring on the new era!

I can’t say I ever thought of Bangerz as a “missed opportunity” era for hits personally. We Can’t Stop and Wrecking Ball were so clearly the smashes there imo. I can’t really imagine something else having been big too.

At any rate, I will maintain Hot To Go was never a good Fall/Winter song, but I know others disagree. Still think it seems awfully telling that its huge gains slowed so much almost as soon as Fall proper hit…

I don’t think any song would have done much better than this. It was the right choice! PPC is a bit slow and testy for radio and RWS… I just don’t think it would’ve outdone this one.

I strongly disagree and have never seen HTG as the “obvious” smash of the album, with the one caveat being that all of the most radio friendly songs on the album don’t have the most radio friendly lyrics. RWS, Casual, Kink, and Naked in Manhattan are pretty clearly smash #1s sonically imo, but all have quite sexually explicit lyrics. So I will admit that may have hurt them.

In at least RWS and Manhattan’s cases though, I really don’t think it’s anything too crazy for CHR today. Especially if Bed Chem is on its way to smashing.

I would have been curious to see as well though what After Midnight could have done, since that one is quite tame lyrically and is perhaps the biggest “sleeper” on the album with how deceptively catchy it is with little burn rate. HTG’s big problem (despite inherently fitting summer season the best) is it has the highest burn rate on the album imo.

I’m glad she went with PPC because it’s one of her signature songs and a good choice for her debut performance on SNL. Sets the tone and really sums her up as an artist. And is really the song that set her up to be who she is today. It’s also top 50 on Pop now, so that could entice radio to hop on board. That being said, this reallllly could use a performance since it’s right on the cusp.
