Finally reaching the top are...
1. Red Planets (Again) (BB🌕 & Fire ) Total Score: 71.1 | Detour Rank: #2 | Roadblock Rank: #2 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.4
Detour Results:
(Literally Written)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9)
District: i do enjoy sometimes but megan has better (8.4)
lyhom: (9.1)
Gabe: bars after bars after bars (9)
Overall Score: 35.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by BB)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9.5)
District: (8.4)
Surf: This is a great pick that I hadn’t heard of before judging the challenge! The song itself is good, not my absolutely favorite, but a very solid choice. I do love the guitar riff and tone. Feels like something that would play in the soundtrack of a cult classic 80s film. (8.5)
Red: Listened to this song again not too long ago before it was in this roadblock, and, honestly, I think something clicked with me on that listen. While I still wouldn't say it's one of my favorite Chameleons songs, there's a reason it has the reputation that it does have. (8.8)
Overall Score: 35.2
Hopefully you can keep this momentum with a +1.3 bonus for the next round! You'll need it...

Also getting a season-high placement are...
2. The Putas (MoD & reputainbow ) Total Score: 69.5 | Detour Rank: #6 | Roadblock Rank: #1 | Bonus From Last Leg: 0
Detour Results:
(Literally Written)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9.3)
District: i love this band. alvvays ftw (10)
lyhom: (7.8)
Gabe: love the instrumental and production for the most part. these vocals are really really irritating for me. I feel like this is the type of song other judges will score well though so… hopefully I’m not screwing you but sorry if I do!! (5.5)
Overall Score: 32.6
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Rep)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9.0)
District: The best song this round I fear. I do quite enjoy a city-pop moment. (9.2)
Surf: This song embodies what I was looking for coming into the challenge - something I hadn’t heard before and shows the person choosing gave time and effort in their knowledge to choose something I wouldn’t have thought of before judging. This song is excellent, the funky brass, the danceability, a SAXOPHONE solo!! Absolutely, sign me up!! (10)
Red: This is basically 2b to the 2a of "Plastic Love", two titanic city pop songs that stand above all others in the genre. (Well, other than STAY WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, anyway.) (8.7)
Overall Score: 36.9
A strong roadblock nullified a poor performance in your detour! Congrats on winning the Seven Wonders challenge. Here's a +0.8 bonus for the next leg.

3. LeRom James (rom & maine ) Total Score: 67.2 | Detour Rank: #4 | Roadblock Rank: #4 | Speed Bump: -0.4
Detour Results:
(Still Hidden)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9.2)
District: if car in space, why drive on road? (9.4)
lyhom: (8.4)
Gabe: this is admittedly not my genre of music but I was still very impressed by this pick. This is really only losing points because the extended instrumental break didn’t quite do it for me and overall personal preference. (7.5)
Overall Score: 34.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by James)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (9.3)
District: (8.6)
Surf: Weirdly this feels like a “safe” pick. It’s perfectly okay, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression on me. It droned on in the songwriting sense; however, the instrumental and production shone through and I appreciated that. (7)
Red: There was a point where I was really into The National around the time that Sleep Well Beast dropped. I didn't listen to this song all that much at that time, but that could be because this song was TOO effective for me. It hurts so good. (8.2)
Overall Score: 33.1
Speed Bump Results:
Speed Bump: Graves Upon Graves Petra is home to over 1000 graves, including four "royal tombs" considered among the most beautiful burial sites in the world. For this speed bump, you must send a song that got a burial of its own: one that finished last in a rankdown. (Please include the rankdown link).
Nick: (-0.3)
District: my first shadow community listen! I deeply enjoy (-0.1)

Red: Out of every song on this list, this song not being on Spotify is the biggest shame. (8.4)

Surf: Two of the best songwriters and their song together is a cover of a song available on Spotify. 😦 Their voices together are gorgeous, I will say. But it does lose points because it is a cover for me. (6)
Red: The only song in this roadblock that I'm pretty sure I've never listened to before, and I almost didn't even realize it was a cover until the chorus popped in. Dare I say, better than the original? Also the best song I've heard from Maggie Rogers by some distance. (8)

This next leg will be run in groups of 4, with two teams combining for the leg. The losing group of four will all be eliminated from the race. Your advantage is that you may select the pairs of teams for this leg. Rep: yeah i was initially thinking me you walt mayman

Challenge #1: Seven Wonders DetourWhat is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for! Detour ThemesFlailing Gods or Alien PodsFlailing Gods: The infamous 2016 film Gods of Egypt, a massive flop with a bloated budget, was set around the pyramids. For this detour, send a song with Gods of Egypt-level flopping: a single that failed to crack the Hot 100's top 50 by an artist who had hit #1 on the Hot 100 with the song just before the flop single. OR Alien Pods: We're the pyramids built by aliens? Who's to say! For this detour, send a song that references aliens or space in its title or lyrics.
As the Seven Wonders challenge, the team with the #1 detour performance this round will receive an advantage that may help them in the game.
Challenge #2: Roadblock IWhat is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms.tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme. Challenge #3: Roadblock IISame roadblock rules apply. The roadblock players do NOT have to be from different teams, each team can strategize.
Remember: all results are combined. The superteam who comes in last (third place) will be eliminated. Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 48 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. The world is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!

Challenge #1: Seven Wonders Detour Detour Themes Flailing Gods or Alien Pods
Flailing Gods Songs:Tennis Court - Lorde
Alien Pods Songs:A Flock of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song Outkast - ATLiens
Challenge #2: Roadblock I Roadblock Theme: Old SchoolThe Giza pyramids were built without any use of modern technology — though, of course, we can't rule out alien technology. For this roadblock, you must send a song that similarly shuns modern conveniences: an a capella song. Songs:Elliott Smith - I Didn't Understand Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner (Acapella)
and joining us to judge this challenge are PREDS PRIDE & samo🦕
(Playlist will be updated soon.) Challenge #3: Roadblock II Roadblock Theme: HonorificsThe Pyramids in Giza are the only remaining original seven wonder, and this status helped them get the title of honorary new 7 wonder in 2014. For this roadblock, send a song from an artist with a similarly silly honorary title: a Grammys lifetime achievement award winner. Songs: Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up Donna Summer - I Feel Love The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love
and joining us to judge this challenge are Enyasurvivor & wheatsquares33
Judges, please submit your scores by 11 am EST on Saturday.

Our first safe superteam is...
1. Lerom Buddies 🏀🎶🏀🎶🏀🤘🏼🏀 (rom , maine , wrip , filthy ) Total Score: 104.9 | Detour Rank: #1 | Roadblock I Rank: #2 | Roadblock II Rank: #2 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1
Detour Results:
(Alien Pods)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: Sadly, not a fish and grits guy (9)
District: discovery of the season for me. will be on power rotation on botrict's on repeat i fear. (let me hear you say oh-yea-yer!) (10)
Navy: someone actually sent a good song finally (8.5)
Gates: Hardly anything comes close to 90s OutKast. The duo was hungry as hell and looking to break Southern rap stereotypes. Songs like "ATLiens" perfectly demonstrated how Big Boi and Andre 3000 were both versatile MCs, but also knew they had a balancing dynamic that could not be replicated. Big Boi was the boaster and fighter, weaving together mind-blowing worldplay, similes, and references to illustrate how the team overcomes hard roads to dispatch doubters and fools. And Andre 3000 lays down the humanist philosophy to explain what they're fighting for. All this, sprinkled with banging pop-ready hooks, is laid over a beat that twists deep funk together with psychedelic interstellar electronic soundscapes. (10)
Overall Score: 37.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Filthy)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: I didn't understand why I did an a Capella theme. I don't really like a Capella music too much I'm learning (7.7)
District: everything i've heard from this album eats, but this one only has a few bites (7.2)
Preds: (7)
Samo: i like everything i know from Elliott but i don’t think i fully get the hype yet. this is really good though, definitely one of his best imo. (8.3)
Overall Score: 30.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by rom)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The fact that every note of the phrase "Move on Up" is a bit higher always will be wonderful (9.1)
District: ok curtis! (8.8)
Enya: This was a pretty bold choice because it’s a song everyone has likely heard in adverts but never knew who it actually was. At least that’s how it was for me. Curtis Mayfield is a name I always hear but never actually listen to. Anywho, this song is dynamic, it’s fast-paced, it’s positive without being preachy. It’s a feat to include so many lines of instrumentation while still providing a digestible product. Great song. (9.3)
Wheat: The rhythm section on this song goes off. Awesome energy on this one, and it's the perfect runtime. I really like how this is structured to be just under 3 minutes of soul-funk fire with no punches pulled. Everything is so tight and perfectly executed. (9)
Overall Score: 36.2
The first top-placement for both teams! Here's a +0.4 bonus for each of you.

Sadly leaving us are...
3. 2000s (Again) (BB🌕 , Fire , rnb , big2000 ) Total Score: 91.3 | Detour Rank: #3 | Roadblock I Rank: #3 | Roadblock II Rank: #1 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1.3
Detour Results:
(Flailing Gods)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: It's fine? But I'm sure there were better options (6.8)
District: one of my first itunes purchases i think. Team outsold tho. (8.8)
Navy: what a bore! (3.3)
Gates: Pretty standard example of debut-era Lorde. Production design is quite nice but mid-pace and minimal so it leaves matters up to the songwriting to keep me invested. I wouldn't call the chord progression basic but it lacks direction and doesn't evoke much for me. Lorde's melodic prowess here is not the strongest, but she makes up for it in certain moments with rhythmic flourishes.
I've always found her to be lyrically an enigma, because sometimes she can write lines that are either quite relatable or are good at pulling me into her inner world poetically (stuff like "I'll see the veins of my city like they do in space" and "How can I fuck with the fun again when I'm known?"), but she spends a lot of time trying to define this 'new paradigm of disaffected cool' that I have no interest in at all. (6.3)
Overall Score: 25.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Fire)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: eh (6.1)
District: (7.6)
Preds: (7)
Samo: i heard this years ago and it really creeped me out lmao. it’s totally fine with me now, but i do slightly prefer the DNA remix. (7.7)
Overall Score: 28.4
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by rnb)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Very real argument that this is just the best song (10)
District: (8.4)
Enya: Ok, so as someone from Boston, this is a no-brainer. She’s our hometown girl and this is just one of many innovative and creative hits to her name. Giorgio Moroder truly made art when he created this synth line and then add Donna’s sultry vocals on top of it? It’s ethereal, it’s otherworldly, it’s perfection. Also, kudos for not being afraid to submit the 9-minute version!! (8.7)
Wheat: Possibly the most important & influential song of the disco era, no one was doing quite what Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder were doing on this track. An all-time classic. (9.2)
Overall Score: 36.3
You both did really well and have a lot to be proud of! Thanks for playing!

2. Brockoputas (walt91 , Mayman , reputainbow , MoD ) Total Score: 102.9 | Detour Rank: #2 | Roadblock I Rank: #1 | Roadblock II Rank: #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1
Detour Results:
(Alien Pods)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: Spacey dreamy and fantastic (9.4)
District: (9)
Navy: seems good but I can’t really here the guy whos singing (6.2)
Gates: It takes a lot of work to make this type of "locked groove" song work, and boy did AFOS put that work in. The drums and bass lay the support structure with incredible driving force, and the soaring beauty of the synths sends chills up my spine. The hypnotic single-note guitar riffs bring an arrestingly unusual sense of harmony, which carry enough weight in the arrangement so Mike Score's powerful voice can deliver simple but effective romantic declarations with a slight air of ambiguity. The subtle variations from each player throughout the track allow the song to end not too distant from where it started, yet give the listener the feeling of having completed a lifelong journey. (10)
Overall Score: 34.6
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Mod)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: (8.4)
District: (8.5)
Preds: (8)
Samo: gorgis (8.9)
Overall Score: 33.8
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Mayman)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Adore it (9.3)
District: this song is just so joy. (9.3)
Enya: A bit disappointed that of all the artists who have won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, you chose one of the most commercial names and then chose one of their most commercial songs on top of that. It just screams, “please let me be safe.” It’s still an iconic song albeit simple, with a single loop throughout the song with a couple of key changes and a piano line. (5.5)
Wheat: A top 10 60s girl group pop song for sure (maybe top 5. Or top 2?) One of the catchiest choruses known to man, and Diana Ross is such an effortlessly charming singer. (9.4)
Overall Score: 33.5
You're still very much in the race and now in the top 4! Here's a +0.2 bonus.

Prompt: Send a Grammys lifetime achievement award winner. Enyasurvivor's interpretation of the prompt: Send a Grammys lifetime achievement award winner that is known enough to win the award but not too commercial because ew and don't even dare choose a song that is well known because that is blatant cheating. Two weeks in a row with people making up their own criteria for the categories and unfairly docking points for it 🤯

Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for! Detour ThemesBigger on the Inside or Four Sided RideBigger on the Inside: The Taj Mahal is a bit of an optical illusion, appearing massive when you're far away from it but getting smaller and smaller the closer you get. For this detour, send a song that also one appeared large before getting small: a radio edit of a song that cut at least a minute of its length. OR Four Sided Ride: The number four appears all over the Taj Mahal. For this detour, you must send a song tied up with the number 4: one released in April of any year.
Challenge #2: Seven Wonders RoadblockWhat is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here.
