hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=341793&title=TOP-20%253A-TAYLOR-GOES-UP-TO-11Tuesday, July 2, 2024 TOP 20: TAYLOR GOES UP TO 11Taylor Swift's THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (Republic) will log another week at #1, its 11th. Megan Thee Stallion and Camila Cabello open in the Top 5 and Top 20, respectively. Zach Bryan's The Great American Bar Scene (Warner) gets a patriotic release on Thursday, July 4, and will chart on Friday's HITS Top 50 with only one day of sales and streams. While it's not included in our midweek Top 20, the album is expected to debut in the Top 10 and possibly give Bryan three albums in the Top 15.

Seems like Taylor's shipping two physical variants this week. And Camila just released a new digital version, priced at $5.

The biggest waste of label resources, budget, and overall commitment in modern times has to be the attempt to make something out of Fifth Harmony & their solo endeavors at this point.
These girls have been consistently underwhelming in every aspect for this past decade no matter how much backing and support they get. The few strings of consecutive hits for 5H, Camila, and Normani upon their launches has repeatedly lead to absolutely nothing and no real success story. They have still left zero mark on music.
Between Camila following up an album doing 30k first week with Drake, Playboi Carti, Lil Nas, and extensive promotion to again do 30k week first and Normani doing 10k after a half decade wait I really would be mind boggled to not see either of them dropped from their label really soon. There cannot be any true profit generated and they are approaching 30 years old. When are the supposed breakthroughs for girls that have been extensively pushed in public consciousness since being teenagers going to finally happen?

Beyonce also has physicals shipped this week. Otherwise, it wouldn't even be close to the top 10.

For how hard Taylor has pushed this era, I’m super curious if she plans to push during weeks 12 and 13… would be crazy if they don’t ever release the compete Anthology on physicals

Glad the physicals shipped for Cowboy Carter it was about to leave the top 50. That will put it around 272k pure , and the rest of the year + x mass will get it beyond 300k . My last renaissance number is 428k

By no means a Camila stan here, but you can't argue that Senorita (was this hers or Shawn's), Havana, Bam Bam, Never Be The Same and a few others aren't money makers for her label. But yes, this album isn't performing.

Camila's Familia debuted at #10 with 27.5k units (11.5k pure), so this isn't bad...and Familia had 3 songs that peaked higher than I Luv It on the Hot 100.

But yes, this album isn't performing. All those songs named are from half a decade ago except "Bam Bam" which was a modest hit at best. Is the money earned from that 1 single a 'money maker' when it has since went into budgeting subsequent flop singles on that album (and the next), buying features from top artists, tons of promotion, music videos for subsequent flop singles, etc? Same with Normani who has essentially only had "Wild Side" be some type of moderate hit in the last 5 years. The little streaks of successful singles they had in 2017-2018 ultimately isn't enough to justify half a decade of lukewarm results afterwards.

What I posted earlier has nothing to do with the early prediction. Some fans on Twitter are saying their copies are being shipped.

Dunno why Taylor's label would ship this week when the top spot is easily hers without it. It's the next few weeks they should've focused on (though wouldn't have done any good in all likelihood).

Very little point to hold on to these versions. The competition is fierce and it has finally fallen to a level where most big acts can catch up. It's OK to drop them this week.
Very good for Megan. OK for Camila.

Zach Bryan is likely too much and Eminem will likely take up the charts for a few weeks. Makes sense to be content with tying Whitney's record for most consecutive weeks at #1 from debut and then try for a few more weeks after Black Friday.

feels like stan twitter has talked about "consecutive from debut record," but idk if that's what taylor was going for. i think she just wanted to be on top as long as possible, and this would three-way-tie her personal record for most weeks on top.
i certainly never knew what the "consecutive from debut record" was until last month.

They should save all the possible variants for week starting 12th when Eminem releases because that'd be Taylor's 13th week. She unlikely to beat Eminem but the Swifties are probably willing to try.

The little streaks of successful singles they had in 2017-2018 ultimately isn't enough to justify half a decade of lukewarm results afterwards. I just looked at her Spotify. Each of the prior three album she's released has 2 songs with over half a billion streams, with her second album having 3. I'd imagine her label has been pretty content with that output, especially when each album is giving her one mega hit. She's by no means pulling huge numbers all around but she's the 60th most listened to artist on Spotify. I'd wager that's good enough for her label. This project seems like the outlier. It definitely may make her label spend less on her, but I doubt they're necessarily panicking like crazy. What Soundcl🕤ck mentioned about this actually being estimated to improve on her prior album's first week sales puts it a bit into perspective that it isn't that bad. However, I'm sure it'll have almost no legs.

It's insane how you are consistently wrong with everything you post 😭😭 We've known for weeks that she would have these physicals ship on or around July 1. No that user didn't conjure anything up. Don't think she's trying to protect her #1 this week, it would be there with or without these new physicals. And the "30-40k physicals" for a whole year is not true for any of her releases this decade. Let's take a look at the last two weeks where TTPD did less than that.

Hopefully Eminem will dominate Taylor! I don't want him to lose his streak.
Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP 1.76M 2000
Eminem The Eminem Show 1.322M 2002
Eminem Encore 710K 2004
Eminem Relapse 608K 2009
Eminem Recovery 741K 2010
Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP 2 792 2013
Eminem Revival 265K 2017
Eminem Kamikaze 434K 2018
Eminem Music To Be Murdered By 279K 2020
I have no idea what to expect. The buzz right now is pretty high for him and he doesn't have any new competition that week. I think with the nostalgia factor and the fact the song is being well received should allow him to at least get with Kamikaze numbers? I'd love to see 500k+ though!

Anything over 200k would be a win for Eminem I think.

Anything over 200k would be a win for Eminem I think. I can't imagine under 300K. He is still one of the biggest artists in the US/world and Revival which was critically panned and fan hated (at least in comparison to his others) by many in 2017 still did 265,000K He has also been running bonus track digital versions as well on his site for 1 week only which should help

However, I'm sure it'll have almost no legs. With big features and doing these kinda numbers she’ll have a hard time selling a tour, no question. And I know it bugs her. She got very good playlisting under Epic so her numbers may be inflated. I think that’s why she went to Drake as she knew she wouldn’t get good playlisting under a new label

I'm usually wrong with these opening weeks preds, but I think 250-300k for Eminem is a reality.

Zach Bryan's new album should appear on Friday's chart. How high will mostly depend on whatever streaming it can manage.
HITS' article update:
"Zach Bryan's The Great American Bar Scene (Warner) gets a patriotic release on Thursday, July 4, and will chart on Friday's HITS Top 50 with only one day of sales and streams. While it's not included in our midweek Top 20, the album is expected to debut in the Top 10 and possibly give Bryan three albums in the Top 15."
