Thanks to tonight's plot twist, this just reached the top 40. That makes her the third indie nightcrawler in recent memory to hit the top 40 after SMITH and Johnnie Mikel. (I'm not counting Kesha, Tinashe or Akon, who are known names with prior history on the format and they weren't nightcrawling.)

EDIT: Yeaaaah there's probably a fair few more that made the top 40 that I'm not thinking about for whatever reason.

Hayes Warner is with an indie label, yeah. I think Lawrence is also indie (two top 40's now). I think Lonnie was with a major (Atlantic, I think?) Olivia Lunny might be one, Charlotte Sands, Jena Rose... hell, if Hitco counted as an independent label then Dixie D'Amelio counts too.

I guess I was just thinking about making top 40 specifically from nightcrawling, while some of the other indie artists that crop up seem like they might've had more around-the-clock support from the stations that were playing them, IDK.

I looked it up and Lonnie was with Muse Records. His situation was a bit different than most of these others though, as somehow, he managed to get a top-of-the-hour iHeartRadio deal on his song's release date.
