If I am going to have to explain myself for my low ranking for "I Love You Always Forever," I'm sorry, but what's dreamy and relaxing to others is very boring adult contemporary schmaltz to me with this song in particular, and the extremely breathy vocals isn't something I vibe with either.

Children making it as high as it did is absolutely the biggest surprise of the whole rankdown. I wouldn't say it's a bad surprise except for the songs it beat that deserved being higher but it makes up about 2% of my disappointment over some of the other reveals.

Missing is also great but I’ll never get why a lot of people love this one so much compared to Where Do You Go when most people don’t enjoy that one as much. They have the same exact beat and flow, like the latter is a copy cat, is it probably the vocals or something.

It was always going to be hard for any song on this list to beat Tha Crossroads on my list. The flows are just insane and the hook is an earworm and a half.
As the song that was leading almost the entire time, I expected this to win and would've been fine if it did (compared to the actual winner that is; obviously I would've rather preferred Missing or California Love as the winner).

With the recent 1998 rankdown and now this one completed, only 1997 remains out of Year-Ends we have not done a rankdown for on Pulse yet since 1980. I'm glad I was able to host one of the late 1990's rankdowns because I consider this my favorite timespan of music.
The next rankdown I will host is the 2024 Hot 100 Year-End Rankdown, which I hope to see all of you send for! The tentative list of songs we'll be ranking is here, to be finalized when the Year-End officially releases.
