Power96 who was a Rhythmic station for many years before flipping to top 40 has now gone to Rhythmic throwback, playing Rhythmic hits of the 90s and 2000s.

Power 106 needs to go back to playing throwbacks but sadly it won’t happen because KDAY FM 93.5 and Power are owned by the same company and I understand why because the overlapping. I’ve never listened to Power 96 because I live in Los Angeles and Power is the heritage rhythmic which has Where Hip Hop Lives since the 90’s and it even used to play dance especially during 1995-96 when they play Lina Santiago, Angelina, Devoné,etc. Boy I can’t that the rhythmic format is almost pushing 40. This format has been through so many phases since the mid 80’s. For example flagship Rhythmic stations like KPWR Los Angeles and WQHT Hot 103/Hot 97 started as stations that were heavy on dance but both went hip hop in circa 1994. On the other hand Power was playing deep house again between 1995 & 1996. Sorry about my history assignment lol.
