As far as other songs mentioned, weren't PPP and Too Sweet pushed by auto-play on Spotify?

I know I know... but a person who is active on a pop forum is likely to be at least curious about the biggest hits of our times. Not if you’re not interested to begin with. Yeah, basically this. I frequent the Pop forum a lot but there are multiple threads that I have yet to click (and likely never will) simply because they don't pique my interest. It was believable because I myself had put off listening to "Shallow" for a while as well. I'm more of a casual fan of Gaga so I won't necessarily go seeking out everything she releases, and a soundtrack single for a movie I had no interest in was not something I was in a rush to listen to. In fact the only reason I went and listened to it was not because of this forum, but because a co-worker of mine had brought it up in conversation and praised it. This, however, did grab my interest more immediately since a collab with Bruno and Gaga is more intriguing to me. I'm glad that this seems to be paying off for the both of them. It should set up their next eras quite well. |

I have to say, I've listened to this song a few times, and don't really like it. There's actually just one part of the chorus I have a problem with:
"If the world was ending, I'd wanna be next to you.
If the party was over, And our time on Earth was through."
The second line is just a melodic repetition of the second, but it seems like the end of the "through" part, instead of being the same as "you" and going a note down, it should go a note up (if that makes any sense, sorry I have no better way to describe it). It just seems like that would be a natural progression, more pleasing to the ear, and for some reason it's just this small thing that almost kills the whole song for me. Maybe things will change and I'll grow to like it, but that would probably only be because it's destined to be a big hit.

Can't wait for this to get the autoplay allegations since it's been smashing and the algorithm responsible for that will pick up on that very soon and start spamming it.
(I'm not saying it didn't help those other two songs, but all three songs connected before and after getting spammed by the Spotify algorithm).

Honestly, Spotify autoplay is the closest thing we have to a musical monoculture, so I'm not necessarily mad at it. I know where to turn off the autoplay settings if it bothers me too much (which happened with Please Please Please a few days into its autoplay week).
