This has crossed over from active rock and (sorta) alternative where it made the top spot and the top 10 (Mediabase) respectively.

I don’t see any reason why this can’t at least make top 15-20. Great song, great message.

Currently 26 on mediabase
Be sure to do the rate the music survey hot ac for this song.
And I promise I’m not spamming this site. I posted about the rate the music survey in another Carrie fan thread on this site but this thread definitely seems more appropriate.

I’d say this could get to the Top 15 at least.

Bullet over 200, yeah i think top 15 feels likely! Maaaaaybe even top 10?!? This better go top 10. I have a doc tracking all the hot AC exclusive hits (top 20) since 2013, and we are currently in the third longest “drought” of not having any HAC-exclusive top 10s during that time period (second place was a year and 4 months in 2017-18, and first place was over 2 years long between 2020 and 2022!) I get that the format has always been an extension of both CHR and AC, but it’s sad seeing how the format has swayed closer and closer to CHR in recent years. Luckily, this song has many things going in its favor toward breaking that streak. It has a relatable message (see: How Do I Say Goodbye), with crossover appeal to country/rock (see: The Bones, Take my Name, and the large amount of alt/AAA crossovers), and features a recognizable artist with a prior smash hit at the format (which the vast majority of hot AC-exclusive top 10s have — the only exceptions being “Take my Name”, “HandClap”, “Cecelia and the Satellites” and “Best Day of my Life”, which all had crossover success). Edit: I realize many of the songs I mentioned did eventually cross over to CHR, however, I was tracking exclusive top 10s based upon them being exclusive at the time that they entered the top 10. Thus, several songs that ended up becoming large CHR hits (Counting Stars, The Bones, Unstoppable, etc) are still considered “exclusive”.

I see this made it to 19 but is now at 21. Is it done?
How many stations that count towards the chart are playing it and how many haven't added it yet?

This isn’t done at all, it just got passed by “Hot to Go” and “Belong Together”, but will be up to #18 by the end of the week with “The Door” and “Good Luck Babe” going recurrent and “Whoops” beginning to fall.

It's still at #19, but seems to keep pulling adds each week.
Unsure if there are any patterns to song progression on the Hot AC charts, but would love to hear if anyone has any updated thoughts on its chart run! : )
Also, do we have any confirmation whether this is actively being promoted by either artists' radio teams?

This has to be Papa Roach's biggest hit on Hot AC. Can't imagine they ever came close to top 20 in their heyday (although I know "Scars" was a huge pop hit)

They were way too heavy for Hot AC in those days i guess that makes sense considering the target demographic of the two formats -- i've just always thought of hac as the one that's more open to alt / rock crossovers

But HAC in the 90s and early 2K was a different beast — stations often billed themselves as having no rap AND no hard rock stuff either. It wasn’t until Bring me to Life and Boulevard of Broken Dreams that HAC finally became receptive to that stuff

It wasn’t until Bring me to Life and Boulevard of Broken Dreams that HAC finally became receptive to that stuff I have to disagree. Many Hot ACs in the mid-late '90s and much of the '00s were very open to alt-rock crossovers, even more so than the last 5-10 years. Go back and look at the charts from that time period. The top 20 songs on Hot AC were nearly dominated by Matchbox 20, Creed, Goo Goo Dolls, and Nickelback. Most of those stations were branded as modern AC or pop-alternative, but still identified as Hot AC. Then there were the more traditional Hot ACs that focused more on being a "hit music with no rap or hard rock" format, but the general direction of Hot AC at that time was pop music with a significant alt-rock emphasis. Leave a Light on is being pretty heavily played on Mix 96.9 in Phoenix, which conveniently is now a modern AC/borderline Triple A station.

Hot AC has always been receptive to Alt crossovers....just not ones that were as heavy as Papa Roach would've been perceived to be at that time.
