Obviously I didn't mean they would be EXACTLY the same but structurally: two singles prior to the album and not a third hit in streaming to boost the album itself. Illusion did well in airplay for Dua though.

That's a great number for Post, no? More than I expected!
Also in terms "Tortured Poets" won't return to #1 without a release of sorts, let's not forget she'll be back stateside next month for the continuation of her tour and we know all her albums get huge boosts when she's touring here. lol

Dua flop singles led to flop album Is much more relevant than the implication that two singles leads to flopping

You seem so sure that Sabrina has the third big hit on the album, we'll see. I think the hype has long gone - PPP has dropped to 11.3M streams on Spotify weekly, it peaked at 31.8M. The album should've come out two months ago OR they should've released a new single recently.

In her case, two big singles before the album will give her a bigger opening than her previous work.("Feather" blowing up helped that one)

Should Sabrina's album been out when her singles were at their peak? Of course. Is Sabrina still on a high that will carry her to a 100k+ opening? ABSOLUTELY. I don't understand the opinions that she's going to have a flop album. She's had one of the two biggest hits of the year (and one of the biggest hits of the moment).

I meAn, not every album has three big singles Actually no other album this year has even two ten week top ten hits so it's reductive to think not having a third for sure dooms her

2 concurrent top 10s for weeks on end (and a third still charting) --- doom for sure

Again we'll see the true demand of TTPD, at least for a week until new versions appear. I wouldn't be surprised if it completely falls out of the Top 10. Besides, everyone is streaming Die With a Smile all day now, lol.

People are starting getting tired of Taylor. Even in the US. Fortnight was pushed as crazy by the radios and fell quickly in streaming data. It's currently doing much worse than Cruel Summer (which entered 80 weeks ago), because Cruel Summer was the true peak moment last year for Taylor in terms of general public reception. TTPD's success is clearly inflated by all the additional versions released strategically to get more weeks at #1.
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is also floating in the top 20 just because of the radios. Once the radio push will be retired, it will quickly fall just as Fortnight.
There is not going to be any longevity in terms of success for TTPD's era, despite all the artificial pushes, strategies and investments.
For the next release Taylor seriously needs a total REBRANDING if she wants to keep her status outside of her fanbase.

TTPD's success is clearly inflated by all the additional versions released strategically to get more weeks at #1. Not specifically aimed at you, but this is such a tired and misleading argument with the average TPD criticisms on Pulse. Yet again, Taylor's additional versions only accounted for 3 of her 15 weeks at #1 (meaning she would have cleared 12 of those weeks at #1 without them). Furthermore they only end up equating to around 20k sales on several occasions when dropped and maybe 50-75k at most a time or two, which is a mere sliver (we're talking maybe 200-250k of padding at most) of her near-6 million SPS domestic total sans her debut week which would be impossible to tally. Least we factor in all the streaming records the album broke and the fact it has cleared 5 billion streams in 4 months which all these people claiming the variants are responsible for the album's success always forget/purposely neglect to mention because it contradicts their argument. I get not everyone is a fan of this album. I get that not everyone is a fan of its variants. I understand the variants have helped secure a few additional weeks at the top, but to act as if the variants are the or even a large reason The Tortured Poets Department is successful or the main reason it spent double digits at #1 is just factually wrong and a gross mischaracterization/dismissal of the album's success. Had she never released additional variants TTPD would still have over 5 million SPS domestically and 12 weeks at the top, which is still a resounding smash. Now people can argue the reasoning for its popularity and success all day, but it has been huge on its own merits with or without all the excessive variants being released since its debut; they really haven't made all that much of a remarkable difference.

For the next release Taylor seriously needs a total REBRANDING if she wants to keep her status outside of her fanbase. This entire post is just flat out wrong. Fortnight and ICDIWABH are still charting on the Streaming Songs chart for one, so no the former did not fall quickly on streaming. It's actually stayed a lot more stable at this point than I would've thought. Radio is not carrying Broken Heart, considering 68% of its points come from streaming as of this week. A song carried by radio, Dua's Illusion, is #82 this week with roughly the same amount of audience. We can say that the singles aren't performing as strong as the Midnights singles sure, but all of the points you made in your original post are just blatant lies. As much as the countless variants are annoying to me, as stated above she didn't need them for most of her weeks at #1. The album is streaming well, but it seems like the streams are more spread out on different tracks rather than centered on 4-5 songs.

One could point out how there are little subtle signs of overexposure finally catching up to Taylor but to say people are tired is just incorrect. "...Broken Heart" is not setting any chart on fire, the songs from the album didn't really pop out and it was more of a folklore type of hit album where the whole project sells without a particularly impressive single run for any of the songs, the "august" resurgence this year was noticeably smaller and her catalogue sales have slowed down vs last year. None of that denies she has sold like 6 million copies of the new album.
Plus tbh she's aware of it. I think there'll be a lengthy break once Eras Tour wraps up in November. It's why ICDIWABH barely gets a live video, why there's not another leg as it was rumored for a while, why Austria shows are cancelled instead of rescheduled... at this point it's likely that there's no re-recording coming this year either after we all assumed the last two would drop before the end of the tour. Even the slight decrease she got for her older album still yields better results than almost every other act.

Dunno, they'll probably take advantage of what's left of Christmas gift market and release Reputation TV later this year.

If Taylor were to release an album tomorrow full of Cruel Summers and Shake It Offs every single would go #1. Nonsense. TTPD is a beautiful album. In fact it's an art.

Taylor's shout out will boost his sales.. So he should thank her anyway. She'll do it next week for Sabrina as well. She'll try to block Sabrina for sure. They are not label mates. Taylor just posted a story supporting Sabrina's album, btw.

I just wonder what kind of fall Post is gonna have. If it's a small fall does Sabrina have enough juice to pass it?

I haven't really tracked Post closely... is he really streaming well enough to be a threat to Sabrina? His pure sales will plummet, that's the norm for week 2 anyways.

sabrina predictions were all over between 60k-120k. Post 2nd week could be around that on the lower end. I am pretty sure sabrina will pass it, there seems to be some positive reaction around her. I think she should easily do 80k+ probably 100?

Based on her first day numbers, I've seen people saying she'll do 175k from streaming alone.
The 80k predictions... lol

The 80k predictions... lol some people really thought lol, I think there were 50-60k preds too. clsvltn I don't think Taylor will be Sabrina's biggest competition next week, unless she does something. I can easily see another 100k+ for Sabrina, if not 100k+, 90k+.
