We are in unprecedented waters on CHR with Sabrina this era. We have to remember that the CHR juggernaut eras that produced tons of #1s like Teenage Dream or 1989 never had their singles overlap in this way. Firework was not attempting to go #1 as the current single, while fighting months old California Gurls trying to return to the top, while Teenage Dream still wasn’t leaving the top ten, while the unreleased and unannounced 4th single ET was hitting top 20 on its own. That is absolutely the problem with this suddenly struggling for the top spot.

Also, and I know this may sound obvious, but let’s all remember to have a little perspective: This album has done massive things and achieved many titles. It’s not like it’s Teenage Dream level or bust. There are achievements now that weren’t even around during Teenage Dream. And at the end of the day, Teenage Dream having five #1s doesn’t really do much more than provide a talking point to Stan wars or nerdy pop music sales conversations. Basically, I think the five #1s thing is a little bit of an overrated, outdated metric. Amazing thing to have, sure, but it really disservices what Sabrina Carpenter has accomplished with this album to even bring it into the conversation. To have three songs in the top 10 simultaneously with a fourth one in the top 20 is *absolutely insane*. Do people not realize how insane that is? That is a stunning achievement that speaks to the power of her era. I think that alone speaks volumes about her ubiquity and presence and quality this era.
