Spotify US #101 (-11) Disease Apple Music US - Will this even chart next week on the Hot 100? Yes, with half this week's streams, a tenth of this week's sales, and the same amount of radio as this week, it should have enough points to chart in the 70 to 80 range. It could go higher or lower depending on how compact the chart is next week and the continued impact of Tyler, The Creator's album bomb, but falling off will be shocking.

Spotify US #101 (-11) Disease Apple Music US - Will this even chart next week on the Hot 100? No it wont and Gaga will fade into obscurity and Interscope will be bankrupt and Laurieann Gibson will climb Mount Everest. Happy now?

What exactly is Britany’s legacy-cementing era? Femme Fatale? She was only 30 years old and her next 3-4 albums were bombs. Both Britney Jean (8th album) and Glory (9th album) spent more time on BB 200 than Smile (5th album) and 143 (6th album) combined, so if you haven't noticed yet, as a Katy Perry fan you are not in position to talk about bombs.

I love LG and also love Katy Perry and Brittany S. No need to pit them against each other. All are great women and have put out great music. I love Disease and its creative video, and it tells me the 2025 LG7 will be fantastic! Just watched her Disease video a few times to get my mind off the election.

Just to put things into perspective and have the transparent haters foam at mouth, this debuted at #14 on Global 200 and #13 on Global 200 without US. People thinking that its flopping globally have no clue or understanding how charts work. Billboard Global 200: 14 (New) Disease Billboard Global 200 Excl. US 13 (New) Disease Flop is strong for sure (especially when we see what happened with her contemporary Katy recently), but it’s certainly disappointing by her recent standards. She’s been riding a high with BM and DWAS before this, and then the first two Chromatica singles also debuted much stronger as well. So not really sure how Disease’s performance so far could be spun as any kind of positive. With the caveat that it’s still kind of impressive considering just how anti-mainstream this is. Gaga obviously still has some name power, or we’d be getting a far worse debut here imo.

Somebody mentioned earlier in the thread that Gaga needs to do more to appeal to Gen Z to cement her legacy, and hence she must have another “mainstream album”. It dawned on me today …. She is doing that with this song.
Millennials loved Fame / FM era. They are her core base and show up for everything.
Gaga was smart when she started acting and doing more mature songs with Tony Bennett, she lured in a lot of Gen X fans with that.
So let’s discuss Gen Z. Gen Z have always known her music, stream her music, and have appreciated her. It was also Gen Z that just resurrected “Bloody Mary” and “Judas” to give her two massive hits well after their releases. On Spotify alone, Bloody Mary still gets about 600k daily spins and Judas almost 1m. Combined across platforms, they have both done more than 1B. The extreme bulk of that having been the last 2 years.
Gen Z clearly said “we like this sound” — this dark, electro, synth heavy sound that touches on darker topics. Very much like this song.
So naturally, Gaga is creating an album that her millennial fans and gen Z fans can equally enjoy. I’d consider that pretty dang mainstream, at least to the audiences that would like this. And should this era take off and work, she is likely going to gain a ton of new Gen Z fans from it.
Lastly, just gonna say this, Gaga has NEVER tried to be “relatable”. She has always bucked the trends and created her own. Why should she cave now to a generic sound or a dated sound?

I’d say this could bode wonderfully for this song, to be in such company as what would end up as one of her signature songs. Should Gen Z latch onto it somehow (for perspective, I am Gen Z and Maximillian described us perfectly about Gaga’s sound—I have been a fan since childhood, but this is still top tier Gaga for me), this could end up being one of her career songs. Certainly deserves to be.

Nice stability on Spotify. I am very disappointed in the video views though... still under 10 million. The video is good but doesn't have any viral moments I guess. It really lags behind in views compared to 911 even (which is a masterpiece and benchmark of our times if you ask me).

I agree with your sentiment that dark pop was the smartest route to go to target a mainstream hit and younger gens given the way they’ve latched onto BM and Judas recently. Could be mistaken, but I think I even brought that point up myself when we first learned this album would be “dark pop” inspired. Where I disagree is that I simply don’t think this particular song is mainstream friendly. I think it’s super niche to her core fandom. Whereas I always thought BM was one of the most infectious songs on BTW, and the only reason I never advocated for it as a single at the time was bc of the major religious backlash Judas got. BM would have suffered the same fate at the time.

I'm flabbergasted about why this song is doing so horribly on streaming. I mean yeah I think it's weak as hell for a lead single, but so was Stupid Love, and even it managed to make Top 5 on Billboard in spite of that. Where are all the folks who said they wanted "dark Gaga" back? She gave them what they wanted yet those folks suddenly disappeared. DWAS is the only thing keeping Gaga's career afloat at the moment, and it's kinda scary that only collabs can give her hits these days.

It was a Halloween promo single. The real lead ballad is coming early 2025.

Oh no, what’s GAGA gonna do once DWAS starts to decrease!? Her career will no longer be afloat. Someone please send her a life-jacket.

People need to get over this promo thing. It’s the first single for LG7, she said so herself We all love the charts, or else we wouldn’t be here. But I think some people are starting to grow this unhealthy idea that every single song needs to be a runaway smash, or else why bother releasing it. This is classic Gaga, a total bop that the fans love. It doesn’t need to be a multi week #1. It also doesn’t mean anything about her career. Do we all forget about DWAS? Stupid Love? Rain On Me? Shallow? People need to calm down because it’s actually becoming tiring coming into this thread and seeing people moan over nothing http://instagram.com/p/C_dmIltvMaH

Top 15-ish is looking likely, as I predicted. Sure I'd love to see it squeeze a little bit further, but oh well. I still love it :)

I’m not worried. Radio will help carry this through the end of the year. She still has DWAS smashing. Drop a new single in January with a performance at the Grammys and that should set her up well for the album release in February.

Should've been titled "Will Lady Gaga Ever Score Another Solo #1" because the article was all about hitting number one (and even used Beyoncé's "came-and-went-#1" Break My Soul as an example - Cuff It was a way bigger hit from that album).
Also, I had to compare the Spotify streams of their SOLO songs and on the 5th (Tuesday) Gaga's solo tracks got 11,307,645 streams and Bey's 7,331,986.
(Looking forward to their third duet!)
