There are no debuts in the Top 20 at midweek, but thereโs still action.
Travis Scottโs Days Before Rodeo (Cactus Jack/Epic) vinyl is shipping this week, spurring the album to re-enter the chart at #1 with a projection of 130k.
Meanwhile, Eminemโs The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grรขce) is set to triple its activity from last week as its deluxe Expanded Mournerโs Edition sends the Shady/Aftermath/Interscope rap god back into the Top 5.
And Paris Hilton, who debuted in the Top 50 last week, vaults to the Top 10 in her sophomore frame with 40k+ in physical sales. The album, on Hiltonโs 11:11 Media, is looking good for #8. Rumors that the CDs can double as toast points for caviar couldn't be confirmed at press time.
In political news, shortly after his infamous "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT" post appeared on Truth Social, Donald Trump was mysteriously overrun by thousands of cats.

Rn I'm thinking Chappell vinyls out later this week won't be enough for a new peak, but we'll see I think her vinyl are shipping this Friday. Hopefully she sold enough to get #1. She's going to need about 35-40k pure sales to get it.

First top 10 album for Paris in 18 years, right?
I wonder, how many years, the record for the longest gap between top 10 albums?

I don't know the record, but Santana went from 1981-1999 without a top 10 album. Depending how you count Cher, I think she went from a top 10 album in the 1960s as part of Sonny & Cher until a top 10 album with Heart of Stone something like 25 years later. That's going from a duo to solo artist, though.

I'm not sure how much Katy can drop below that mark with physicals inflating debut numbers but never would have expected Paris to have a chance at beating her lol.

First top 10 album for Paris in 18 years, right? I wonder, how many years, the record for the longest gap between top 10 albums? An important distinction though is that she hasn't released any other albums in that time, so it's different from suffering a long period of low commercial performance and then bouncing back. She's released some singles in that time, but interestingly her first, Stars Are Blind, is still her only Hot 100 hit. It goes to show that hit singles are not always what it takes to sell albums, sometimes it's the celebrity or the personality. With regards to Katy Perry, it's arguable that Paris is currently a bigger star than her, and maybe always has been.

She may have more relevance now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. lol They were both huge of course, but I'm talking about overall celebrity/star noteriety (not just recording artists), and mainly from 2003 on and for most of the aughts, well before Katy became famous, and yes she lost fame post-2010, but still if you consider the whole time period averaged out from 2003 until now. She was the original socialite heiress queen of the century, as big as Kim Kardashian now. You'd really have to have lived through the era, first with the explosive sex tape, the "that's so hot" catchphrase, and then all the numerous gigs, tv shows, movies, hair/makeup products, etc. Trust me, I think it definitely rivaled Katy. Not that I am a huge fan of Paris or think her output was of particular quality; I'm a much bigger fan of Katy.

What was the last album that didn't debut at #1 that got a number one eventually? F*ck Love by Kid Laroi? That one is even more of an asterisk* than Travis (asterisk in the name aside ๐).
What was the last legit "just got more popular and rose to number one" album?

What was the last legit "just got more popular and rose to number one" album? Encanto was after Kid Laroi's album, and had an 'organic' rise without any new editions releasing or shipping.

It will be interesting to see how much Travis Scott falls next week:
Friday, September 20, 2024
Cactus Jack/Epic's Travis Scott get his #1 on the HITS Top 50 for the 10-year anniversary release of Days Before Rodeo. Shipped physical sales of DBR lift the project to 156k this week. Since nearly spoiling Sabrina Carpenter's chart-topping debut for Short n' Sweet four weeks ago, Scott's DBR has moved nearly 500k units, the majority coming from pure sales.
Island's Carpenter slides to #2 after a three-week run at #1. Labelmate Chappell Roan maintains #3 with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
Eminem's The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grรขce) (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) rises to #5 with the deluxe Mourner's Edition. Paris Hilton's Infinite Icon (ADA) also leaps into the Top 10, moving 45k in its second week.
Vanner/Republic's Miranda Lambert lands the top debut with Postcards From Texas at #20, followed by Island's keshi at #26.
Streeting this week are new titles from Freebandz/Epic's Future, Capitol's Katy Perry, Capitol Nashville's Keith Urban and Galactic/Republic's Lil Tecca.
