Sabrina and Chappell's numbers are really holding up!  Great debut for GG.  Interesting to see #50, the Kid Laroi's sales number of 6 albums sold. I know streaming is more important and Kid Laroi streamed enough for #50 but it shows how low sales figures are.

TOP 50: SABRINA'S SWEET RETURN

Island’s Sabrina Carpenter returns to #1 on this week’s HITS Top 50 with Short n’ Sweet. Earning significant AOTY Grammy buzz, the set posts 100k in its sixth week. This is Carpenter’s fourth chart-topping week—only Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (Republic) has spent more weeks at #1 this year (17, since you asked).

Imran Majid and Justin Eshak’s Island goes 1-2, with Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess holding onto the runner-up spot. Roan’s album reached a new sales peak last week, surpassing 100k units for the first time thanks to her one-year-anniversary vinyl. Rise and Fall logs 63k this week.

Following last week’s #1 bow, Freebandz/Epic’s Future moves to #3 with MIXTAPE PLUTO. Big Loud/Mercury/Republic’s Morgan Wallen and Darkroom/ Interscope’s Billie Eilish round out the Top 5.

Lady Gaga lands the week’s top new entry at #15 with Harlequin (Interscope), a companion album to the Joker: Folie à Deux soundtrack. Gaga’s project opened with 26k, making it the week’s #1 jazz album (among the numbers assayed by the diva are Harold Arlen's 1932 "I've Got the World on a String," also recorded by Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, among many others). It likewise had the biggest opening day ever on Spotify for a jazz set. Physical sales, available exclusively via D2C, accounted for 16k of the total. Traditional retail for Harlequin rolls out on 10/11.

Streeting this week are new titles by WMG’s Coldplay, SCMG/Capitol’s Toosii, Columbia’s Leon Bridges, Sony Nashville’s Nate Smith, Back Blocks/EMI Nashville’s Tucker Wetmore, Mercury’s James Bay and OYOY/Interscope’s FINNEAS, as well as the Joker: Folie à Deux soundtrack (Water Tower/Interscope) and an eternal sunshine deluxe from Republic’s Ariana Grande

Yes it seems like the physicals drop for the album in stores is on the 11th. All physicals accounted for this week were sold through her site, but only preorders counted. A majority of the purchases during the track week will shipped on or around the 4th (next weeks chart) and the rest of the purchases late in the tracking week and this week will be shipped on October 11. So her D2C site purchases are kind of split up, so I'd say 26k for an album full of standards and covers from an underperforming movie is decent.

26k and #15 for that kind of album is really decent, it's far from tragic, but it's also not something that should be considered a SUCCESS. Now, with a nice longevity - like 2 months in the top 100 or something, I'd change my mind.
But this doesn't mean anything for her future, Gaga will surely have great numbers when the REAL album comes out.

I've never believed side projects should be given the same expectations as main projects, so I think that figure is respectable for LG!

I think no one is considering Harlequin as huge success to be honest, and some of the absolute knob heads actually are comparing it to a studio album lol.

I think both were close to or at 1 million pre-release units, although I'm not positive about that. OTAAT should be eligible for 8x platinum and Dangerous for 11x platinum.

Honestly I'm starting to believe she only dropped it to prove she can sing better than what she did on the film. They said they purposefully sang poorly on some sections to make it more believable and if you hear the songs side by side it mostly rings true.
