Billboard’s Canada Top 40 chart is gone

Its former page is now a 404: www.billboard.com/charts/canada-chr-top-40/

It’s also disappeared from the landing page even though the Canadian Hot 100 & Canadian Albums charts are still there: www.billboard.com/charts/

I discovered that also. Quite disappointed. It was a good chart. While all Billboard charts based on radio airplay are Mediabase and Medaibase charts are available elsewhere, the actual Mediabase charts pull the trigger on songs and transfer them to recurrent way too fast. The Billboard Canada CHR/Top 40 chart took a more realistic approach and kept these songs on the chart much longer. 

The criteria for transferring a song from the chart to recurrent is based on the length of time on the chart and when it drops below a pre-set position. I think with Billboard it came when a song dropped out of the Top 20 and had been on the chart more than a certain number of weeks. With Mediabase it is 20 weeks and as soon as it drops below #10.

I wish Mediabase took the same approach as Billboard. Having a long standing hit vanish from the chart the minute it drops out of the Top 10 is not realistic and that happens regularly. It does make room to bring new stuff onto the chart sooner, but Mediabase needs to take a more modified approach for songs that are still legitimate hits.

Do you happen to know where I can find the full Mediabase Canada Top 40 chart? Their site only lists the first 30 positions: www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/networkmag/chart.asp?format=z1k

I thought I answered this yesterday, but I see my reply doesn't show, so here we go again.

You will need to sign up. To get to the sign up box click on the Login symbol at the right end of the menu line. You will see a box to the right that says "sign up now". Click on that and provide the information requested.

Once you are a member you will have access to the charts. The default screen for me is Top 40/Mainstream (the US chart). Click on that or "Charts" in the menu bar. On the screen that opens click on the v in the "Panel" box. Two the the selection choices are: All Stations (Canada) and Published (Canada). Select Published (Canada) and in the box beside "Select a Format" click and select Canada Top 40. You also need to choose between Rolling and Published. Rolling will give you the current day's chart (it is updated daily) and Published will give you the published chart for the week (updated weekly). All charts list the To 50.
