I have XM (mostly for sports talk and some music) and love it. I am thinkin about changing over to Sirius though. XM has Sporting News and Fox Sports Radio while Sirius has NBA, NHL and NFL games now. Iam torn cause Sirius doesn't offer Fox or Sporting News. Really can't afford to have them both (XM is 10 a month, Sirius 13)

I have XM and all their equipment is very small and compact, unlike Sirius.

I am an XM radio subscriber---maybe it's time to switch to Sirius since I finished a research project on sirius A & B (binary stars, not the radio company!) and every search I did resulted in advertisements for the radio company! It would be one way to show my gratitude, and one way to show my extreme disappointment in XM for playing "On Fire" every six hours, and "Fantasy" every day.

I'm considering getting XM in the coming months. Technically, I have more than enough money to get it, but I do have other priorities to take care of first.

I have never heard XM's programming. I have heard Sirius online a few years ago.

I'm a SIRIUS Subscriber.. I have 2 units one in home and one in car..
I have an XM unit too, but cancelled my subscription..
There are flaws and advantages to both services.. XM doesn't have the type of talk channels that I like (SIRIUS has 2 "liberal" talk channels and has "Air America" without making cuts to the programming that XM does).. Another thing that I like about Sirius over XM is there is more personality on the music streams.. On "First Wave" (The classic alternative/new wave stream) there is Richard Blade, Freddy Snakeskin, and Dusty Street from the old KROQ in L.A., on The Big 80's there's Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, and Alan Hunter from the original MTV (the one that actually showed Music videos), on the 70's station, Barry Williams from the "Brady Bunch" does a show, the personalities on the indie Alternative stream, "Left of Center" are great too.. Sirius also has an EMINEM stream, "Shade 45".. I'm not a fan of EMINEM but I hear it's a good stream.. ALSO: On their extreme Sports/music lifestyle stream, FACTION 28, they have Tony Hawk and other extreme sports athletes doing shows..
XM has personalites but for the most part their streams are automated.. I like hearing DJ's on stations and the sound quality seems a bit better better to me.. BUT.. XM does have a bigger and wider selection of music.. Sirius has a MAJOR problem with repetition.. XM gets into the more obscure and the "oh Wow!" songs while SIRIUS' focus is usually on the Hits (with an "Oh Wow!" every now and then)... XM also has a dedicated punk stream while SIRIUS' extreme sports stream mixes the punk with rap and nu-metal, and XM's Classic Alternative offerings have a better edge to them than SIRIUS' playlist wise.. As does the 80's Channel..
I guess though that it all depends on what you are looking for..

You have to really like radio if you're willing to pay for this kind of subscription. Granted there are no commercials, the quality is higher, there is a better selection, etc.
But at the same time, there are tons of internet radio stations that are commercial-free and you can find even more variety on them. With the advent of mp3 players and cd burning on top of that, it doesn't seem like there's a huge reason for many people to pay for satellite radio.

I haven't made the plunge to satellite radio yet, but I would get it mainly for talk radio programs, particularly the sports stations during football season (comes in handy when local affiliates break away for other programming) and for Air America, the liberal talk radio network.

I have XM and love it! I subscribe to Opie and Anthony and it is the funniest show I have ever heard. I love having ESPN because no one in my area carries it. They have excellent country stations and the 80's station is really good. It's hard because you are listening to something and wondering what's on another station. I have the Roadie Two and it is great because it's portable and can go anywhere. I bought a special plug from Wal-Mart so I can take it in my house without having to dish out 25.00 for the home kit. Also in the FM Modulator mode cars within 50 feet or so can pick up the signal and listen as well so if you are going on a trip and following someone, they can listen too.

Not during the day. They used to carry Dan Patrick then went with Jim Rome. They pulled him and are now doing all local shows. They may carry it at night but I live 70 miles away and lose them in the winter about 5:30 and about 7:30 in the summer.
