I am disappointed, I was hoping that this would be their second number one Alternative hit. At the present moment it's a couple spins away from being a number one hit on my chart. 7/10 it appears that the Canadian pop R&B star Shawn Desman will hit number one on my chart instead.

Did anyone hear this on Saturday Night Live this past weekend? Will Ferrell was the host, and (perhaps predictably) they brought him on, dressed in the Blue Oyster Cult look, banging the cowbell throughout (to the dismay of Nicholas2.0 ).

Goddammit, I saw QOTSA interviewed on MTV2's Rock Countdown a couple months ago and while Josh definitely knew the difference, even he didn't really seem to bother differing the two, even though anyone with even a vague knowledge of percussion instruments knows that ignoring the nomenclature "temple block" and using "cowbell" as a blanket term is a glaring faux pas. For crying out loud, anyone who's seen the "Little Sister" video can see clear as day that their drummer is whacking a red plastic block! That don't look like no cowbell I ever seen! All because of that damn Will Ferrell sketch (which was funny, but moreso due to Christopher Walken), people are ironically obsessed with cowbell and go so far as to hear it in a different instrument used for the exact same purpose and not even care that they're wrong.

Plus, KNDD does the "Cowbell Remix" of the song sometimes. That is, they play the SNL sketch before the song (while playing the intro in place of when the BOC tries to play the song during the sketch). Personally, I find it quite unnecessary.
And yeah, and the end of it they always say "Of course it's not really a cowbell, it's a wood block of some sort", but since they say that every time, obviously they think nobody really cares.
And yeah, Walken really made that sketch what it was.

"I have a fever, and the only perscription is more cowbell."
That line always cracks me up.

"I have a fever, and the only perscription is more cowbell." That line always cracks me up. That is easily the funniest line of the sketch, and incidentally, the only one I remember, seeing as I only saw it once.
