What do you guys think will be the next # 1 song on Alternative? By the looks of the chart, it might be a long time before we find out the answer.
I'm going to guess that it will be Three Days Grace.

I'm hoping The Killers will get another surge and capture #1 next, if only for a week.

I want The Killers to be the next #1, but I see Papa Roach on top, or even the new Queens Of The Stone Age song

I actually think it'll be none of the above.
The Killers and Jet seem two weak to have longevity long enough to take the #1 spot by default.
Jimmy Eat World's "Work" is probably too light to the format to go #1.
Breaking Benjamin, U2 and Unwritten Law all will fade off pretty fast to me.
Finally, "Scars" by Papa Roach will have to muscle airplay of "getting Away With Murder", so I think that will affect this single's overall potential.
I actually think the next Alternative #1 may be Queens of the Stone Age's "Little Sister"
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'm not really sure, but I have a feeling that the result's gonna be exactly like last year, where the next #1 is a song that debuted while the previous one was still #1.

You want a sleeper for the next #1? Though I agree it'll either be "Save Me" or "Little Sister," I want to say watch out for "I Don't Know" I know it's unlikly and will be an upset, but hey, that's what a sleeper is, isn't it?
Remember a few years ago when "The Middle" was #13 for three or four weeks? It had a week bullet, and looked like it might stop right there. But it eventually shot up and got #1. If there's a song out there that can do that, it's "I Don't Know" by the Lostprophets.
Funny thing is, I was about to make this exact same topic.

I think the Killers will be the next one once it gets it's "popularity surge", by this, I mean when it starts to crossover to other formats. Usually when this phenomenon happens, songs see a really big surge. I remember this happening with:
Jet- Are You Gonna Be My Girl Staind- So Far Away Modest Mouse- Float On The Killers- Somebody Told Me Green Day- Blvd. Of Broken Dreams (it got an extra large surge)

Holiday was in it's 5th week when E-Pro debuted on the chart.
Would anyone be willing to say that Be Yourself is a pretty safe pick for #1 right now? Sure, some have debuted this high and didn't, but others have and have some of the larger runs at #1 in alternative's history.

With as much as I hear(d) it and as much as its video was/is all over the TV, I would've figured "Mr. Brightside," would've been lodged firmly at #2 for over 75% of Green Day's reign. But no dice...

Holiday was in it's 5th week when E-Pro debuted on the chart. But what I was wondering was did Holiday debut before or after Boulevard debuted at #1? (Although based on that figure, it seems like the answer is after.)

But what I was wondering was did Holiday debut before or after Boulevard debuted at #1? "Holiday" debuted after "BOBD" hit #1.
