This seems like a huge bomb in the making. I meant to post a little review of this disc on the "Save Me" thread, but I hadn't gotten around to posting by then yet. Anyway, the verses have a catchy little acoustic flow (kind of like the opening of the third chorus on "Save Me"), and the bridge has a nice hook. But the chorus is pretty boring - mainly some heavy pogo-crunch and shouting - and the vocals on it seem too gruff for decent airplay.
I was personally a huge fan of Elva, but Here's to the Mourning just seems to leak boring filler. A lot of songs have gimmicks for the sake of being different, they come off as being too heavy and slow for the band's style, and "Save Me" automatically pops out as the radio single that the entire campaign for this CD was built around. Releasing "She Says" reminds me of when Nick Hexum said 311 released "Beyond Gray Skys" because they knew Evolver was really done with radio play.
Anyway, Unwritten Law seems to deserve this as Scott (their lead singer) usually comes off as obnoxious and an ego-tripper.

Josh, before this afternoon, you'd only posted one time on here?

Apparently so. I had tried to post a number of times in the past, but my password would not go through. Today, it has. But I have kept up on the topics by reading most of them.
And for anyone who doesn't know me (which I guess is probably most everyone), I posted on the R&R boards under the same name a couple years ago. I'm 23, from MO, typical movie/music junkie ... yada yada yada.

This reminds me of 'Little Black Backpack'. Same tempo changes, only with more shouting.
