107.7 WRAX in Birmingham is changing dial location to 100.5. Not sure when but the stations will be simulcast until a new format is found for 107.7. Most believe it will be Urban. 100.5 is in Tuscaloosa. It will become The X at 100.5 and will keep all on air talent as well as Tuttle and Kline (the morning show). That leaves NO alternative stations that I know of in the Birmingham area.

Word has it that 107.7 will be urban. Up until the late 90s, 107.7 was home to the legendary urban station WENN. WENN is still around, but as Hallelujah on 105.9.

I live in Gadsden which is 70 miles or so East of B'ham so I would not be able to pick up anything out of T'town. I barely have a small signal for the 100.5 but it is audible enough to listen to on a regular business. There used to be a hard rock station that was only about 50,000 watts or so because you could only pick it up in the B'ham area but it didn't last long. 107.7 has been slowly going down hill for a while now. Hopefully someone will step up with a kick ass station soon.
