www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2005_03_14/jackunpacks.aspMonday, March 14, 2005 'Jack' Unpacks At WGLD/Indianapolis In a surprise move, the Susquehanna Oldies station known as "Gold 104.5" yesterday evening bid farewell to the market by adopting the eclectic Adult Hits "Jack FM" presentation. Steve Cannon stays on as PD for Jack FM, which is playing music from a wide variety of artists including Bruce Springsteen, No Doubt, Marvin Gaye, Lenny Kravitz and the Rolling Stones, to name a few. The format flip of WGLD continues a rising trend of stations dropping the Oldies format due to sales challenges; WGLD was consistently ranked among Indianapolis' top 5 stations 12+ and was nominated for the Marconi Award for Oldies Station of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2003. From me: WGLD is fifth in the ratings. It's the second Susquehanna format change in Indianapolis recently, 80s WGRL changed to Christian AC last July 9 and then changed call letters to WISG on August 12. Of course Susquehanna won't change the format of their other Indianapolis station, Country WFMS is Number 1. It leaves Indianapolis without an Oldies station.
